Re the treat I agree. Not sure why they would write that dialog--what was the point? Re the bedroom visit--in a later shot the bedroom door was open.

Re the note, yes, Richard probably would have read it. The kids were probably not worried about Collins since he said he was going to a faculty meeting.

When I watched the episode the fact that Wally & Beaver were alone in their bedroom alone with Mary I found curious. Even with the door open it seems against how Ward & June manage things. I think June would have suggested they talk downstairs where she could peek in or slightly hear their conversation. I think writers having the door open was supposed to quell any concerns. But, I don't think the scenario would fly in a 50s family closely monitored like the Cleavers.

I thought it strange too that June had no problems with Mary and Beaver going to his bedroom to mess around. I think he says that when he and Gilbert were going upstairs but not with Mary. How do you play so many games of Monopoly when one game could last all afternoon and the next day.

You are so right how Mary could go from a sweet smile to that look of utter disgust towards Beaver when he asks if she'd like to listen to his radio. It's so obvious they wanted Mary to shun Beaver. Wally really tried to back out of walking her home and Beaver saw it so why think Wally was moving in on his new love? Beaver really was mean to Wally. I also wondered how Mary knew that Wally was a good baseball player being from another town.

Nope, Larry’s sister, Richard’s sister, Whitey’s sister who had twins and Gilbert was an only child but when he became Bates he got an older sister, all no shows. Alan Boothby might have been Evelyn’s brother but we’ll never know.

Right, I think Alan's last name was mentioned in the Drysdale episode by the kid whose father worked at the newspaper. He could have been been Evelyn's brother.

I'm usually wrong about these later Beaver friends, but that actor who played Alan was also in Sweatshirt Monsters and A Night In The Woods, but I don't think he was in any other episodes. Also I think the Boothbys disappeared after season 5.

Speaking of the Boothbys, Mr. (Bill) Boothby was twice played by Pat McCaffrie--once in the first episode of the season, where Ward didn't appear to know him, then later in the car trouble episode, where he worked at Ward's company. In Bill's other appearance, where Evelyn drove Wally to the dance, he was played by another actor. Oh, and the probably-uncredited actor who might have been Bill, who pulled the sweatshirt off Alan, was yet another actor.

Great observations! Yes Evelyn’s father was a whole different actor. Alan was in just those 3 episodes. I always thought it was so funny in Night in the Woods when Gilbert’s flute playing father, Mr. Harrison G. Bates, planned a camping trip for a whole month and at the last minute had to go to a wedding. What was it a shotgun wedding? I always found that funny. Why not say he had to work or had to play golf with Ken Langley and win back his $500.

One of the hardest working child actresses of the 1950s, Mimi Gibson earned over $100,000 (in 1963 dollars) from appearances in 35 movies and over 100 Television Shows. Her mother took Mimi and her sister to Los Angeles after her father's death when she was a baby. Her mother lived off her acting income. When Mimi turned 18 she found out that all her earnings were gone. At the age of 20 she had become very angry and upset. She skipped getting a college degree and got married to get away from her mother.

She reconciled with her mother a few years later but the experience has bothered her ever since. She is presently active in the Screen Actor's Guild and A Minor Consideration and has pushed for revisions in Coogan's Law that assures actors retain a substantial portion of their income.
