Move over Winnie-the-Pooh, and make room for Weavie-the-Sue! 🧸

A.A. Milne wrote two Pooh books, "Winnie-the-Pooh" and "The House at Pooh Corner". Disney made the most famous of their animated Pooh theatrical featurettes in the 1960s, stringing them together with new interstitial animated material to make a feature-length theatrical film in 1977.

This idea came to me last last night, to "Eastland-ize" the Pooh world with our "Facts" girls. Here are the matches I came up with, based largely on the old animated Disney versions:

Pooh - Sue (Ann)
Piglet - Cindy
Eeyore - Jo
Kanga - Nancy
Roo - Too(tie)
Owl - Blair
Rabbit - Natalie
Christopher Robin - Molly Parker

Late night reasonings:

Pooh 🧸- Since Sue Ann was one of the lead girls in season 1, and "Sue" rhymes with "Pooh". Also, Sue Ann was naive and "a girl of very little brain" early on. ;)

Piglet 🐷 - Piglet and Pooh are best friends, as are Cindy and Sue Ann. Like Piglet, Cindy is younger, more insecure, and sentimental. And Piglet was once "entirely surrounded by water", as was Cindy (Piglet in his house during a flood, Cindy in the basement during a flood).

Eeyore 🦛* - The realist, Eeyore is often negative and down and sometimes a drag, and sometimes Jo acts the same ways.

(there's no gray donkey emoji, so there's a gray hippo, lol)

Kanga 🦘- Nancy is often described in press material as "level-headed", and Disney's Kanga was very level-headed, soft-spoken, and often "Nancied" (interestingly, there was more to Milne's Kanga).

Roo :baby: 🦘- Like Roo, Tootie is the youngest, very precocious and daring, and gets into "trouuublllllle!"

Owl 🦉 - Owl can get puffed up and haughty, and rest on his "grand" laurels, which goes with our Blair.

Rabbit 🐰 - Rabbit takes his gardening and orderliness very seriously, as does Natalie her journalism and reputation. They both get very cross when those areas are disturbed!

Christopher Robin 👦 - Molly can be an independent "woman" in charge of all her own toys, and she can play Christopher Robin because, by golly, no one's gonna tell her she can't play a boy just because she's a girl!! :singer:

And instead of the Hundred Acre Wood, their adventures are in the "10 or 12 Girl Wood."

;)

Nice work, '80s! I think you did a great job matching up the girls'/animals' personalities! I tried to think of alternate pairings, but ultimately, I think these are pretty solid matches.

Thanks! This is the kind of thing that happens when you combine late night hours with a quarantine!

:lol::lol::lol::lol:

I thought you'd enjoy that in particular. ;) :p

The only one left is Tigger 🐅. Tigger didn't show up until a few chapters into the second book. Tigger, bouncy, energetic, out of control, troublesome...hmmmm, the girls are all taken...maybe Roy?

 This is my new fav thread! Combining two great childhood chars!

I'm honored!

Actually, now that you mention it, there's a deeper connection with me here than I'd thought about. While I was at my grandparents' watching daily morning re-runs of FOL on NBC, I was also watching the full-size costume show 'Welcome to Pooh Corner" on The Disney Channel on their satellite dish. :)

Back in the good ol' early days of The Disney Channel...I loved WtPC and Disney's other full-size costume show, "Dumbo's Circus". :loveya:

Why does BLAIR always has to be the bad guy? She's not HAUGHTY?!!:mad::mad:
And anyway: OWLS are rather known for bringing bad luck (they always do in horror movies) and other than that, they have beautiful big eyes and very expressive too, so no haughty boohoo!!!:p:p:p

And no, no bad guys here. But Blair was definitely haughty at times. That was part of her being a snob and and full of herself. But you to have to also remember I'm saying this not in criticism, but just as character traits, because Blair is my favorite after Cindy.

Hey Blair is one of the most popular chars, Valentina. Be happy your fav isn’t a lost girl who gets lots of hate for “bad acting” or “the writers gave her random plots that didn’t connect” or “she was awful at the reunion for lying”. Yep us Sue Ann fans have a lot to deal with. Atleast she’s pretty much the most popular of the lost girls, not that that’s saying much.

Ha ha ha nope i wasn't really 'raised' on British classics lol! (except for all the vampire movies starring CHRISTOPHER LEE and BARNABAS COLLINS, and the AGATHA CHRISTIE books i read).
Other than that, i grew up watching Japanese manga and American sitcoms, so no 'WINNIE THE POOH i'm afraid :lol::lol:

I was only slagging you off with BLAIR ha ha! I know she's one of the most popular character (if not the most) on FOL: the popularity ranges between her and JO (who got her fan club too).;)

I'm also glad BLAIR is your number 1 (after CINDY) and sadly it is true: the 'Lost girls' never reached the popularity the 'Core of 4' did i'm afraid....:(

Yeah, I heard about that. There was apparently some behind-the-scenes drama we never knew about.

As you know, Kanga was featured heavily in the pilot. But by the time the series itself began taping, Kanga noticed she was barely in the scripts. She went to the producers and asked, "Where's my part?!" Where's my character? My role has been severely diminished."

Producer Ken Kessel told her they were still working on her character, and muttered something about she wasn't "All-Marsupial" enough, whatever that means; they gave Kanga an invisible boyfriend, but did little else to develop her role. In her final episode, she finds out she doesn't get into the Heffalumps, and she's led out into the garden, where they put a flower in her hair. We see her in occasional cameos, but she has few lines until a late-season episode, where she confesses she's about to have another Roo.
