What a CRINGY episode! Yikes....I felt like I fell into an Afterschool Special and couldn't get out!!

And that coke head Nick....did producers just pick him up off Hollywood Blvd and toss him into the studio with a script?! The poor guy couldn't act his way out of a paper bag. OMG he was so wooden and terrible. puke:

And where the hell was he for the 3 months that he was supposedly dating Blair?! LOL! He just appeared out of thin air and they're in a 3 month relationship already. What?!

Ugh...terrible episode and so cringy! They should've aired this at 4pm after school was out. I almost expected Mrs. G to crack an egg and say "This is your brain on drugs!"

I know it was the 80's and that old hag Nancy Reagan was everywhere telling us all to "Just Say NO!"....But please....I just say NO to this horrible episode!!

No, I'm pretty sure he's the same guy who seasons earlier played "Leo" the mentally challenged delivery boy that Blair tried to mentor. If it's the guy who I'm thinking of, he also played a few roles on the show "Alice." I remember in one episode he was Tommy's friend from college who was a bad influence on Tommy. They got arrested for starting a food fight at a restaurant. So if it's that guy, he is not some unknown who was picked up on Hollywood Blvd.

That wan't being political...she was an old hag the same way Beverly Ann was. It has absolutely zero to do with any politics. I probably should've taken into account it could've been interpreted that way.

But really....I was just calling her an old hag as I would ANY old bat I didn't like regardless of politics.

I think Mrs. G knew what was going on but decided to let Blair handle it on her own like she said she'd do in "Working it Out". She walked in a couple of times and had that knowing look on her face, especially when she looked at coke head Nick. She knew at that point Blair could handle it herself.

Only thing I didn't like was when Blair STILL wanted to go out on their date together even after learning he was a coke head. That's not the Blair I know...I don't think she would've still went on that date with him after learning he was a drug addict. She isn't the co-dependent type at all.

Only after he insisted on waiting for his dealer at the store. Before that, and after she found out about his addiction, Blair still asked him to go with her on their date.

You're so right: MRS G did have that knowing look on her face and a little smile suggesting she was testing BLAIR, to see if she could handle the situation by herself!;) (what a smart chick she is ha ha!).

And no, i don't believe BLAIR ever dated that 'CREEPY' guy again: remember how she tells him she will not stand by if it meant it could get MRS G in trouble? (I thought that was very classy of her and it showed her loyalty towards MRS G)

I love how protective all the girls are of Mrs. G. Jo also mentioned it to Nick how him dealing there could get her shop closed down. I wanted Jo to twist his arm around his back and shove him out of the store and I almost expected her too. It would've been a great scene!

Remembering your question from before....When Beverley Ann and George came along, Blair chould've called him back to make a deal while they were there and had Bev and George sent up the river for drug dealing!

You MAY be right so i'll hold off until I watch the episodes. As of now i'm only going by my 16 year old self who couldn't stand them back then...but maybe my 50 year old self may be a little kinder on them. Perhaps more to Beverly Ann though because I like the actress on MTM, but probably not to George cause I despise that Loony Clooney and how he tilts his head in everything he does like it's some kind of tic he can't help.

And I do remember being annoyed by little Andy back in the day but now I like him.

Blair only had suspicions at that point when she tried to get him to go on the date. When she was totally sure that he was a druggie, she dropped him.

Only after he insisted on waiting for his dealer at the store. Before that, and after she found out about his addiction, Blair still asked him to go with her on their date.

I think her intention was to try to get him to see how drugs are ruining his life. She wasn't desperate for a guy, she was trying to be a friend and help him get away from using. I like this episode because it gave Blair a new story with a guy than just her normal routine of falling for a guy over his looks.

The reason I didn't like it was because it showed Blair as being possibly co dependent and I don't think that was in her character make up. The Blair I know would be nice, but firm and tell him that she just can't be around him if he's into that. I think she's smart enough to have known she'd have no ability to change his ways.

Also, this is the first time we see him and they're supposedly been dating for months? How can the viewer be invested in anything if we're not seeing their relationship? Had we met this character and saw the relationship for a few episodes before this one, the drug aspect probably wouldn't have been so black and white for me and i'd maybe understand Blair wanting to help him.

Yeah the writing for the girls romantic life wasn't the best in season 6. I get what you're saying. It is hard to be invested since he's only appeared once but I think we're supposed to imagine what it's like for someone in her situation. Do you dump the person right off the bat or do you try to help them? Blair didn't have a lot of time to think of her decisions. It was just thrown at her and didn't know what to do. I'm sure a lot of people who have been in that situation had the same reaction.

Edit: Happy belated birthday :cheers::birthday::dance:

Thanks!! :)

The way that episode was shown, for us the audience, it felt like a first date between them, so our natural reaction would be to quickly have him shown the door. To make that episode work better, Nick should've been seen for a few episodes first to get us invested in that relationship more.

Then it wouldn't have been played like a cringy Afterschool Special.

And come on!! Have a lookie at what I just discovered!

Look at the air dates of "Working it Out" where Blair just broke up with Cliff and is SO upset by that....1/9/85...and THEN---

In "With a Little Help from My Friends" , Blair is suddenly dating Nick for "months"??!!----Air Date for that was 1/30/85!!! The same damn month!

Audiences were to believe this big relationship happened after only THREE WEEKS?! Boy Blair really bounced back quickly from Cliff!!
