Karlen was nominated for three Emmys, winning one Emmy for best supporting drama actor (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=upXEjp8u-wM), for his role as Harvey Lacey, husband to Tyne Daly’s Mary Beth Lacey, on the 1980s CBS police drama. Karlen also played conman and scoundrel Willie Loomis (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dBfp-RPtP5Q) on Dark Shadows after replacing James Hall, who had abruptly left the show after five episodes.

I know!! I had already known of his passing when I was watching Cagney and Lacey today! I got tears in my eyes!:( Harv was such a sweet man, a very loving Husband and Father and I really think John was very much like that in real life!:) And he was Polish American like me! ;)
