Why did “FKB” hop from CBS to NBC then back to CBS? That seemed to be a sign that its ratings were mediocre at best, but the Wikipedia article about the series indicates it was a success.

Sponsors owned shows back in the day. Maybe a sponsor (Scott Paper was a major one for FKB) was shopping for a better deal.
