Vampire Clan (2002) on DVD :thumbsup:

The film is based on the true story of the 1996 double-murder committed by a "vampire clan", lead by 16-year-old Rod Ferrell, in Eustis, Florida.

A teenage girl joined Ferrell's "coven" and told them that the only way her parents would let her leave her home is if they "killed them", so Ferrell and a male accomplice broke into the girl's home one night and brutally murdered her parents.

Sam Elliott, Aidan Turner, Caitlin FitzGerald, Larry Miller, Ron Livingston.

In my top 5 of new films I've seen this year. Sam and Aidan were excellent as versions of the same character at different ages. I liked how they went back and forth between the 1940s and the 1980s.)

Child's Play '19 :thumbsup: (Blu Ray; After moving to a new city, young Andy Barclay receives a special present from his mother -- a seemingly innocent Buddi doll that becomes his best friend. When the doll suddenly takes on a life of its own, Andy unites with other neighborhood children to stop the sinister toy from wreaking bloody havoc.

I think I enjoyed it even more on second viewing.)

Gothic Vampires from Hell (2007) on DVD :thumbsup:

A female vampire group operate a gothic record label and "sign up" various bands only to feed on them. They have their eyes set on the lead singer of Gothic Vampires from Hell as their new master.



Not bad for an independent film featuring a ton of no-names. It has its flaws with the obvious fake blood and poor special FX, but the film shined w/ it's great soundtrack.

Only person I recognized was Mara Marini from her role as porn star Brandi Maxxxx on "Parks and Recreation".

A mentally ill man who works as a clown becomes fed up w/ life and goes on a murder spree against those who've done him wrong.

He unwittingly becomes an inspiration for the downtrodden citizens of Gotham in fighting back against those in power (not him per se, but his Joker make-up since nobody knows who he is.)

Joaquin Phoenix was amazing.

Pet Sematary '19 :thumbsup: (Decided to give it a second try. I actually enjoyed it this time around. Still no where near the book or the 1989 version. But I appreciated some of the things this time around- the pet funeral procession with the children wearing masks for one. Also, the ending I think is creepy in an EC Comics way.)

I originally wanted to watch this because of the lost film/cursed film aspect, but honestly they should have left that out and just had the film itself which I thought was a pretty good slow burn horror film and they did a good job making it look like it was from the late 70s.)

Watched this with my daughter, amazingly she hadn't seen it before, but she has seen the original several times. Granted this is no where as good as the original, it's still a fun gory slasher. Normally I'm not a fan of remakes explaining everything the original film purposely left vague, but I do enjoy how this one shows us what the phone calls were about in the original.

That being said, I have zero desire to see the newest remake.)

Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker '19 :thumbsup: (The surviving Resistance faces the First Order once more in the final chapter of the Skywalker saga.

Thought it was a lot of fun, and a good ending to the main franchise story line.

Saw the original in the theater when I was 7, and now have seen this last one in the theater and I'm almost 50, Star Wars has literally been part of my whole life. Seen all of the films in the theater during their releases, and some again during re releases.)

What I found interesting is that the "feud" between The Backstreet Boys and *NSYNC was manufactured as both bands were managed by Lou Pearlman.

The same man was making the money no matter which group the fans supported.

It's pretty much the legend of Bloody Mary made for the internet... if a person on an online chat types "I did it for the lulz" three times their chat partner will be killed by Smiley.

A college student's friends are all being killed online by Smiley and she has to figure out if Smiley is an actual demonic entity or someone very real close to her.

Not the greatest slasher flick.




The film is directed by Michael Gallagher of YouTube's Totally Sketch series and features actors from the online series in the film, as well as online personalities Shane Dawson and Toby Turner (Tobuscus).

Other cast members include Roger Bart, Keith David, Liza Weil, and Michael Traynor as Smiley.

My daughter wanted me to go see It's A Beautiful Day In The Neighborhood with her, so we did.
And even though I usually make it a point to never see movies made today, I can honestly and enthusiastically recommend this movie. It was a little different from what I expected, but it was very well done and it makes you want to be more like Mr. Rogers in the way he handled people, and things in his own life, gently and with his underlying and steadfast faith.

I also think Tom Hanks did an awesome job(although I was hesitant about his portrayal of Fred Rogers at first - like the first 5 minutes) in this role.

Rabid '19 :thumbsup: (Horribly disfigured after a freak accident, doctors perform a radical medical procedure on an aspiring young fashion designer. But when the bandages come off, the side effects soon cause her to develop an insatiable appetite for human blood.

This is the kind of remake I really enjoy, stays faithful to the original source, but still succeeds at making it its own.)

It's been a while since I've seen this. Originally the cast of the TV series was going to appear in the beginning of the film and get killed off. The TV cast hated the direction the film was going in and nobody from the show came back for the film.

Many of the original cast didn't like how they made the character Jim Phelps the bad guy in the film. Peter Graves, Greg Morris, and Martin Landau bashed the film.

Good movie! Regular Robert DeNiro type film, very violent and gritty but this time he plays a Jewish bad boy instead of an Italian! :D Also very long, 3 1/2 hours! I watched it in two sittings! ;)

eh, this one was ok. It's perhaps the weakest film of the franchise, IMO.

Directed by John Woo so the film has a lot of his trademarks like flying doves and dual-shooting while gliding across the floor.

Absolutely loved it. Really enjoyed its connection the 1980 film version of The Shining, from the score to the way the film was shot. Also liked how certain scenes from The Shining were recreated. The actress playing Shelley Duvall's Wendy was spot on.
Also like the connection to The Dark Tower books.

Blood Stalkers '76 :thumbsup: (On Blu Ray; Two couples from the city on vacation are made to feel unwelcome by the locals, and something stalking in the Florida Everglades

The film itself looks great, unlike the VHS releases, you can actually see what is happening in the night scenes.

The extras on the other hand are disappointing- the commentary with the director had way too many dead spots, the moderator should have done a better job keeping the conversation flowing.
The documentary was 4 minute footage of a showing of the film at a drive in the 2000's.
The interview with the director was decent, and I enjoyed seeing the opening titles with the original title The Night Daniel Dies.)
