No. This wasn't a "random" murder. This was a murder to cover-up a random robbery. Just like all the murders that cover-up random rapes.

No. If one of those three hired him, why wouldn't he squeal? They're just three hillbillies, not Don Corleone. No one's going to keep quiet about it for them.

Absolutely not. Surely it was investigated and not even in the realm of possibility.

Nope, as said he would have tried to mitigate it by pointing the finger at one of them long ago-he is still sitting in a jail cell over 20 years later & is unlikely to ever get out. It is just an incredibly bizarre case where three people all had a lot of motive to murder him, but it ended up being somebody totally unconnected. I do wonder after this was solved how Bob Bean felt knowing his ordering the guy to leave otherwise he would report him ended up being the thing that meant this happened?
