I think the show is rather hit and miss. It is not like the old Rod Serling show to me. This show is much more dark and spooky. It has sort of gotten my interest but I find some flaws with it.

1. The episodes are too long, and an hour show is too long in this format. The early 1960's show could set up the plot rather quickly and then resolve what happens in the end. Because that was sort of what made the show great, the endings.

2. It is dark and spooky. Some of Serling's shows were dark and really spooky but there were some that were not, and even heartwarming to a point. I have never seen Serling's later show Night Gallery but perhaps this new reboot is more like Night Gallery that the Twilight Zone.

3. The swearing. Now, I am not against swearing in movies and in some TV shows. Concerning TV, some shows must have swearing. The Sopranos is a good example. Sociopathic criminal folk swear a lot, and in this context, the so called "f-word" and "s-word" among others.

But here to me it doesn't work because it takes away the spirit of the old show. I don't think Serling would have employed this in the early 1960's even if there was no issue with him doing it. That is the weird thing here. Also, another "CBS Access" series, Star Trek Discovery slips in an "s-word" or an "f-word" at least once an episode. Again, the other shows and the Trek films didn't employ that, even soft swearing like "damn" "hell" etc.

I will say that Jordan Peele is a pretty good nararator, but again tends to be spooky in his approach. Again the Twilight Zone, the literal zone itself is not always spooky, scary and forboding.

Who else likes or dislikes the show?

Never watch the 2019 version of The Twilight Zone because it won't be as long as the original.

It doesn't hold a candle to the original. It's not even close.

I watched the first episode and it had its good points but wasn't my cup of tea. It didn't feel like Twilight Zone at all. They took an admittedly decent premise and stretched it into an hour of awkward dialogue and dull repetition. Jordan Peele's performance was mostly unremarkable IMO.

Judging from some of the recent trailers they're going for increasingly political stories devoid of subtlety. Should have seen that coming. I know Serling had occasional political episodes but they're laying it on so thick here.

I watched the first episode and thought that it was just okay, but my mom wasn’t impressed at all.

How are the 1980s episodes? I think these are the ones MeTV will start showing in a few weeks.

I think they're going to start showing them this week. I haven't see them in years but from what I remember they were pretty good.

The 1980's episodes will start airing on May 28th. As for the original show, it can still be seen on Syfy.
