They're desperate to bank on this "cash cow" to save their sinking ship. I personally don't like this iteration of American Idol (but I'll still watch). I think the judges are way too soft on the contestants, and I miss the terribly bad auditions we saw in the original. I also can't stand Katy Perry. She acts downright unprofessional and it's actually kind of embarrassing the types of things she does on this show at sometimes! For me, American Idol died when Simon Cowell left, imo.
