With their only daughter away in college, a scientist and his former cellist wife live in an isolated lakehouse in Vermont. The wife, Claire, becomes convinced the house is haunted after witnessing ghostly reflections in her bathtub and bathroom mirror.

She begins to wonder if she is going crazy or if her husband is trying to hide something horrible from her.

Listened to the audio commentary on the Prom Night (1980) Blu Ray. Featured the writer William Gray, director Paul Lynch, and a moderator who I didn't catch the name. It was interesting and entertaining. Maybe this is common knowledge among slasher and Brady Bunch fans, but before Jamie Lee Curtis was cast as the lead, the film makers wanted Eve Plumb.

The thing that bugged me was they kept saying Jamie Lee Curtis' character was culpable for everything that happened and it was her character (as a child) who wanted the other friends to cover up the death of her sister. BUT her character wasn't there when the sister died, she left saying she forgot a book and was absent when everything happened. So, no idea what they were talking about.

Synopsis (from IMDb): Mabel has just gotten engaged during a housewarming party of which her mother is the hostess. When an annoying party guest persuades Mabel to dance with him, Mabel hurries through the dance and then goes to look for her fiancé, only to discover him caressing another woman. Her fiancé finds not only Mabel, but also her mother, very displeased, and not inclined to believe his explanation.

The wife then struggles to find a means of escape all the while being haunted by hallucinations and fending off a starving stray dog who got into the cottage.

Based on Stephen King's 1992 novel.

Twisted Nightmare '87 :thumbsup: (Blu Ray; A group of teenagers win a trip to a summer camp they had attended as children. However, soon after they get there they begin to disappear one by one. The survivors suspect that the disappearances may be connected to the death of a handicapped child at the camp years before.

Also listened to the audio commentary with the effects artist Cleve Hall, he also played the killer in the film. The commentary also included Hall's daughter, Code Red founder, Bill Olson, who put the Blu Ray out, and film historian who I don't remember his name.

The most interesting thing about the film is the fact it was shot on the same location as Friday The 13th Part 3, though it was only mentioned very briefly at the beginning of the commentary.
Another thing, Marc Copage who played Diahann Carroll's son on Julia plays one of the friends in the group. According to Cleve Hall, who was brought on as a replacement effects artist because the producer's weren't happy with the original artist's work, said that all the actors were brought back to re film their death scenes. Except Marc, who Hall said the crew didn't want to deal with him anymore.)

A high-school drop out has to take night classes for his GED in order to get a job at his friend's financial investment firm. He later finds out that he struggled so much in school due to undiagnosed learning disabilities.

His teacher has some rather unorthodox methods to teach him how to focus, such as beating him up in a kickboxing ring while making him solve problems.

This movie may have been a minor classic if not for the goofball special effects. That being said, it's entertaining and never boring.

The young woman turns out to be a psycho and wants to kill the wife to be with the husband.



Lifetime actually had to put out a special announcement back when the casting was announced on April 1, 2015 that it wasn't a joke since stars Will Ferrell and Kristen Wiig are mostly known for their comedy and this was a serious thriller.

I actually like Ferrell's more serious roles over his comedic parts.

Anyway I saw this at Dollar Tree, and I was all like" Oh wow, Erik Estrada , I will buy it"!! Well glad I did, Erik is as HOT and ADORABLE as I remember him to be!! 2015 , he was 66 years old and still VERY handsome and hot!! :);):heart::eyes::love:

I never got to see this in the theater . I really wish I did. The special affects would have been really cool and creepy :eek:and I could have paid total attention to it. As it happened, I saw it yesterday at a family gathering drinking a few beers. So between being buzzed, and being in a roomful of people , we were talking and laughing through it.:D But it still was good even though I wasn't giving it my undivided attention ! :crazy:


And "Frenchie" was a total cutie pie. A HOTTY !:eyes: Actor Jonas Bloquet' , so that was totally a plus! :):heart:

One of Netflix's most popular original movies. The film inspired the social media trend "The Birdbox Challenge" where people attempted to complete various tasks while blindfolded.

Netflix issued a warning saying not to do it and YouTube said they would remove videos of people doing "dangerous stunts".

I'm a huge Star Wars fan, but I never fully got into collecting the figures/toys. I still have the figures and some of the ships that survived from my childhood. And still even have the Escape From The Death Star board game and jigsaw puzzles.
I did get to experience that whole collecting culture, a friend of mine, who is even a bigger Star Wars fan than me, collects anything everything Star Wars. Back when the prequels were being released and the figures for those movies, plus from the original films were being (re) released. I went with him several times to stores. He knew the stores to hit, and what days for the better chance of finding the harder to get figures.
The only time I've ever gone out shopping for Black Friday was with him, standing in line in the dark waiting for Toys r Us to open.)

The director kept making smacking sounds with his mouth, and the moderator had to keep asking him questions just to get the director to talk about making the film, otherwise the director kept giving a play-by-play narrative of what was happening on screen.)

The First Purge (2018) via HBO-on-Demand :thumbsup:

The 4th film in The Purge franchise works as a prequel showing the origins of The Purge where all crime is legal for 24 hours.

Here, The Purge is in its experimental stage confined to Staten Island, NY for 12 hours. Citizens are encouraged to stay during The Purge by being offered $5,000 if they survive.

Meanwhile, a fierce drug lord says that his gang isn't moving and they wind up protecting their city's citizens from outside gangs the gov't hired to cause havoc in case not many people participated in The Purge.

It was WAY beyond just a horror film, it really had a powerful message to it!;) I won't say anymore and reveal any spoilers. But I highly recommend this movie!! VERY GOOD, intense scary, freaky , cool movie!! ;)

Can You Ever Forgive Me? was the title of her 2008 memoir, of which the movie is based, where she details her forgery scheme.

Pet Sematary '19 :thumbsdow (Dr. Louis Creed and his wife, Rachel, relocate from Boston to rural Maine with their two young children. The couple soon discover a mysterious burial ground hidden deep in the woods near their new home.

I'm open to movie adaptions of books making changes, as long as it preserves the heart of the book. But for me, this one failed. One of the major changes is even spoiled in the trailer, but I won't mention it so as not to spoil it for those who haven't seen the trailer. But it was a major change that just did not work. To me it's right up there with The Mist tv series removing all of the monsters.

Also, Fred Gwynne I think turned in one of the most iconic performances in the horror genre, as Jud in 1989 film- mighty big shoes to fill for John Lithgow, and he didn't fill 'em.

Bummer, as the directors previously made one of my favorite recent horror films Starry Eyes.)

A policeman is assigned to investigate a series of violent incidents in an unnamed Latin American country. They began in remote villages, but are now starting to occur in or near the capital. The terrorists commit the attacks in the name of "President Ezequiel", an unseen figure attempting to undermine the country's corrupt, ineffective government.

The story is inspired by the Maoist terrorist group in Peru known as the Shining Path. Its leader Abimael Guzmán was captured in an apartment above a ballet studio in the capital Lima in 1992.

Was John Malkovich's directorial debut. Aside from a few shorts, he hasn't directed again.

Of course you have all heard of and maybe seen this old Clint Eastwood movie! But did you know the love of my life, my sweetheart, my pretend Husband Michael Lembeck is in this move? His VERY first role , he has two scenes (only one line in the whole movie) , and he is SO YOUNG and SO ADORABLE!!!:):heart::eyes::love: And I read articles about this and he himself says how he was VERY nervous!!! He was at the time , only 19 , maybe 20 years old and had NEVER had an acting gig before!! But he did well! :)

I got this DVD for a few dollars on Ebay!! :)

And as for the movie, well it was a corny old Clint Eastwood western!:D Clint was a HOTTY back than but besides that well like I said , it was a corny old western!! :lol: But it gave my baby his break, Michael Lembeck got a foot in the door in acting ! ;)

He played (uncredited) Marvin , the general store stock boy and he really was VERY ADORABLE!! So cute, sweet and young with his brief screen time and one line only!! :):heart::eyes::love:

The film takes place in 1961 at an isolated psychiatric hospital for Holocaust survivors in Tel Aviv. Adam was a successful singer/comedian/magician in Berlin prior to WWII and he was later sent to a concentration camp.

The SS Officer in charge of the camp recognizes Adam and decides to spare him, but has him act as his own personal dog. Adam has to eat and sleep off the floor, or in a dog kennel, and has to stay on all fours and bark 24/7 in the officer's office.

Adam still battles many demons after the war ended and was sent to live in the institution. A patient later arrives at the hospital who was also forced to live like a dog and Adam tries to get through to him having been put through similar abuse.

Yeah, that was a big disappointment. Two and a half hours is way too long. The casting was bad, one of the characters was supposed to be the father of one of the attackers in the original film, he was about 30 years to young. The villains felt like cartoon caricatures.)
