Often major stars have guest roles in shows when starting out but did you notice that NONE of the guest stars or cast members went on to stardom after TC? Am I missing anyone?

Not any of Jack's girlfriends, the girls' boyfriends, Felipe, Vicki, etc.?

I guess you can say Lana Clarkson did become kind of famous after TC but she was nothing major by any means.

TC was one of the top rated shows of its time so why didn't ANY of the guest stars or cast members went on the stardom after TC??

Even Larry(Richard Kline) was really funny in his own right but he basically disappeared after TC and never capitalized on his TC success!

Jeffrey Tambor became a big star and Joanna Kerns went on to star on Growing Pains. Suzanne later starred on Step by Step.

Good examples but I thought Tambor was already somewhat known before TC. Joanna Kerns is a great example & I completely forgot about her.

He was cast on the Ropers in 1979. Don't know what he was in before that.

But James Cromwell was already in All in the Family before TC. I'm talking people who started on TC either as guest stars or a starting role.

Rita Wilson went on to act in movies.

I remember someone saying Rita Wilson was so hot that she could've been a big star or at least had a few major starring roles. Then someone else said at least she married Tom Hanks. LOL.

I just looked at her pic and I don't even remember her in TC. Who did she play?

Richard Kline never had a major starring role in TV or movies after TC despite being very funny on TC.

Daphne in "The Apartment" episode.

Yeah, now I see.

Although Mr.Belvedere may have been kinda popular when it was running it's pretty much been forgotten by now since it's not in syndication anywhere.

Of all the ones named so far Jeffrey Tambor is probably the best example of someone who guested on the show and then became a star. He only did bit parts on two or three TV shows before he got The Ropers gig and then guested on Three's Company, so The Ropers was his big break.

Most of the guest stars had been doing television for at least a few years before they showed up on Three's Company. The few who were brand new to TV didn't do much after the show.

Robert Z'dar, who was an uncredited extra in a couple episodes of Three's Company went on to become a big name in the horror/cult classic B-movie scene.

Was Robert Z'dar an extra sitting at the bar at the Reagle Beagle or something?

It's amazing how Jack dated DOZENS of hot women during the show yet really only one(Joanna Kerns) had a significant career after TC! If you look at the IMDB profiles of the actresses who were Jack's girlfriends SO many only have a few credits to their names and then just QUIT acting!

Did they find it too frustrating or unrewarding? Did they get pregnant or married and move away from Hollywood? It would be interesting to hear why so many of them quit acting only a few years after TC ended!

Are you joking? Most of the guest stars both male and female kept working in TV for at least a decade after they appeared on the show. Maybe not super-stardom but they definitely had a career.

As for Joanna Kerns...she did not get her start on TC, which I thought was your original point. She was working in TV for four or five years before she was on the show, and though she did Growing Pains afterward she kind of disappeared after doing TV movies and minor parts on TV shows throughout the 90s. She and Loni Anderson had very similar levels of success. Of all the women Jack dated I'd say Rita Wilson is probably the one who went on to something like "stardom" since she was in several movies, not just TV shows, but she didn't get her start on TC, either.

I've found several women who guest started on TC and only have a few acting credits to their name. That's what I mean.

Maybe (probably) a casting couch type deal.

ABC in the 70's had a pretty sleazy vibe.

Terry Kiser ALMOST struck it big with the Weekend at Bernie's franchise, but that never really went anywhere after the second movie.

Kiser was always showing up on ABC sitcoms like Barney Miller.

He was absolutely HILARIOUS in the 2 episodes of TC he was in. Once he played a mean, jealous guy who threatened Jack over his girl and then he played a mob boss who visits Angelino's.

Those are 2 of the best episodes of TC so you wonder why Terry Kiser never caught on?? I suppose these 2 characters were so specially designed just for Jack's predicament that they couldn't be parlayed into anything else.
