View Full Version : Laff Schedule Update

So starting this week, Grace Under Fire is moving to weekends only. The 8am hour has been replaced by another hour of Grounded For Life while the 12am has been replaced by another hour of That 70s Show. As for the 2am hour, Cybill has taken its spot.

You can now catch Grace Under Fire at 1am on weekends.

This is probably a good thing. A little of Brett Butler goes a long way.

Yeah. I have no idea if the three timeslots were on three different cycles, but I swear I saw the episodes with Grace, Nadine and Libby in New York at least ten or twelve times in the span of two months.

I think The Drew Carey Show was in the 1am hour before this schedule change.

Home Improvement should be moved to afternoons while Night Court should be on at night.Night Court could be 11PM-1AM but Home Improvement is perfect in primetime, no point demoting it to afternoons. Maybe Home Improvement could move an hour earlier 8-10PM and Night Court could be 10PM-midnight. What needs to go away is That 70s Show from 7-9PM, I would banish that show to midnight. They could do this schedule on weekdays.

6-7AM The Drew Carey Show
7-8AM Home Improvement
8-10AM Grounded for Life
10AM-12PM Spin City- does not need three straight hours.
12-2PM Grace Under Fire
2-4PM Cybill- this show deserves a weekday slot, it doesn't air anywhere else.
4-6PM The Drew Carey Show
6-8PM 3rd Rock from the Sun
8-10PM Home Improvement
10PM-12AM Night Court
12-2AM That 70s Show
2-3AM 3rd Rock from the Sun
3-4AM Night Court
4-6AM Movie

10AM-12PM Spin City- does not need three straight hours.

Is Spin their most popular show or something? I don't get why they still have yet to do anything about that. They're already halfway through season 3 and they'll probably halfway be through season 4 by next week.

Also, does anyone know why they keep randomly skipping and jumping episodes and seasons of 3rd Rock? I know it's a show you can (mostly) watch out of order, but I noticed that yesterday they skipped the first two episodes of season 3 which give a conclusion to what happened at the end of season 2.

I'm hoping that Empty Nest will come back -- and in PRIMETIME (preferably 9-11pm!) I love that show and need it back! :(

I know. The thing is that with the 11PM (going by your time) cycle, they were on season 2 then randomly jumped to season 6. Now they're back to season 1.

If they bring back Empty Nest, Ellen, and Roseanne, here's what I recommend:
6-7AM Home Improvement
7-8AM Roseanne
8-10AM The Drew Carey Show
10AM-12PM Grace Under Fire
12-2PM Spin City
2-4PM That '70s Show
4-6PM Ellen
6-8PM Empty Nest

12AM-2AM 3rd Rock from the Sun

I wish they would play movies at 9PM like they used to do back in 2015-2016. They've wasted a lot of good movies like Who Framed Roger Rabbit?, High Fidelity and Adventures in Babysitting by airing them in the middle of the night.

Yeah they should really do it again. It wasn't until Roseanne was added to the lineup that they decided to no longer air movies at 9PM. If I was in charge of scheduling I'd do this...

7PM-8PM - Spin City
8PM-9PM - Night Court
9PM-11PM - MOVIE
11PM-12AM - Night Court

Or alternatively...

7PM-9PM - Night Court
9PM-11PM - MOVIE
11PM-12AM - Night Court
12AM-2AM - That 70s Show

I was going to say the same thing, I do hope they do get Ellen and Empty Nest on there, since its not airing anywhere else. I really love Pluto TV its free and they are adding 5 more movie channels this month and they have a bunch of movies on there. Your welcome. If you have firestick or Roku u can get more seasons not just the first season of the shows.

What's even more interesting is that I remember they aired the episodes during 3rd Rock's first cycle so I don't know if it was a mistake or things just worse with the controversy.

Laff is not Viacom though, and they probably aren’t going to bring the show back anytime soon.

They probably still have the rights to the show since they did sign a multi-year deal with Casey-Werner for the rights to 3rd Rock, Grounded for Life, Roseanne, That 70s Show and Cybill so they'll maybe bring it back.

Night Court could move there for now leading into Home Improvement. Mad About You would also be a good pickup for 7-9PM, I know Encore Classic airs it but broadcast rights would probably be separate. LAFF should also snatch the rights for Frasier if it expires from Cozi.

Another good pickup for LAFF would be the Tonight Show with Jay Leno. I watched him a lot in the later part of the 2000s but never got to see his 90s shows live. This may have seemed unlikely to come back to TV a few years ago, but Antenna TV's pickup of Johnny Carson also would have seemed unlikely at one point. Along with Mad About You and Frasier (hopefully it expires from Cozi soon and LAFF gets it), this would be a nice schedule.

Weekdays
6-8AM Grace Under Fire
8-10AM Spin City
10AM-12PM The Drew Carey Show
12-2PM Cybill- give this show a decent slot for a change.
2-4PM 3rd Rock from the Sun
4-6PM Mad About You
6-8PM Frasier
8-10PM Home Improvement
10-11PM Jay Leno: 1992-2005 episodes of his Tonight Show

They might have to be careful on Mad About You, since they don't have an exclusive on that--it's also in local syndication (a local channel here has it). They could lose some markets depending on how the contracts are written.

Personally, I'd rather see Late Night era Conan or Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson if Laff ever makes a move like Antenna TV did with Johnny Carson.

Other shows I'd like to see on Laff:
Dear John (if Antenna ever loses the rights)
The Larry Sanders Show (don't know what the chance of this show airing on Laff or Antenna is due to how much explicit language they'd have to censor)
NewsRadio
Taxi
The Odd Couple (the original from the 1970s)
Boy Meets World
Malcolm in the Middle
Titus (I have no idea how possible this would be since the show's humor is way more darker compared to the shows currently airing on Laff)

Might make a schedule sometime soon since there's other shows I feel like would be a good fit for Laff.

I miss Empty Nest as well. I downloaded most of the series from YouTube before it was yanked from there. As for The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, I’d love to see those again. I have a few episodes on VHS but not nearly enough. That was the last late night show I bothered to watch. After Leno retired I gave up on “late night” shows as they just became political machines that are unbearable for me to watch. At least Leno jabbed both sides. It’s all so left wing now it’s just sickening.
