Big mistake is the host who is the actor in Austin Powers as another character, like Tony Clifton as a game show host. Bad. I also think the Gong Show could only be done in the 1970's with Chuck Barris as host. Syndicated show with much less competition, usually shown early on the weekends, at least in my market. I miss the reruns of the original version(especially all episodes prior to 1993). I don't usually like reality but Superhuman was a rare reality show worth watching. Plus Love Connection had a lot stronger lead-in with season 1 of Beat Shazam, while So You Think You Can Dance did not help Superhuman at all. If their nights had been switched their renewal prospects for season 2 would have also been switched.
