View Full Version : How did you start watching FT?
MJFfan 05-29-2002, 09:59 PM How did you first start watching Family Ties?
I started watching it back in September. My Mom was watching the marathon they had on and I came in to watch. I had never heard of Family Ties before and the first episode I saw was the one about Alex and Ellen. (That's my fav.)
Plata 05-29-2002, 10:23 PM One day I had come home from school sometime after 3:30pm and I was looking at the program guide on channel 13 and saw that Family Ties was on channel 16. And, I knew that Michael J. was in the show back in the 80s and of course I'm a fan of his, so I flipped to that channel and saw the last couple minutes of the show and thought it was really funny, and I ended up watching
the show until it went off Vision TV in May of 2001.
pepper13sc 05-29-2002, 10:35 PM I started watching it when it first came out. I loved Michael J and still do. :happyface He's just way to cute not to watch. I love to watch the reruns they never seem to get old. I remember I had to watch FT and my little sister had to watch Growing pains.
Krystal Lake 05-30-2002, 09:18 PM I watched it during the original run, and when I found it was on N@N I started watching again. I'm up mostly nights, and it's something to watch at that time. Plus, it brings back memories. :)
Paula 05-31-2002, 03:39 AM I also saw it during its original run on NBC. But I can't remember what night it was on. Does anyone here remember?

I think it was on Wednesday nights.
Charlie Da Man 06-07-2002, 04:36 AM I first saw FT around October of last year when they were running the marathon for it on N@N. From then on I was hooked.
I was especially hooked on to justine bateman, damn she looked sexy on that show! Hell, im still hooked on her!
Warm & Fuzzy 06-08-2002, 01:06 AM I started watching it when N@N aired the marathon sometime last year... then continued watching most weekends at 2.00AM -3.00.
APKJr 06-12-2002, 12:14 AM I started watching Family Ties sometime last year during the marathon when Nick @ Nite first introduced it on there. I was hooked after that (After all, who can't think such great actors and a super-conservative kid aren't cool?)
Brad Russ 06-12-2002, 02:30 AM I started watching the show in it's original run. I was really young, but it was pretty much a tradition for my family to get together every Thursday night to watch this show. I hadn't watched the show in many years, when I picked it up once again on TBS about 3 years ago. Now I have virtually every episode on tape, but I still watch an occasional episode on Nick At Nite. Basically wherever Family Ties goes, i'm there!
Mr. Shy Guy 06-15-2002, 05:20 PM I first watched it on N@N. I don't watch Family Ties on N@N anymore though cause it airs locally, during the day!
cubsfan1060 07-21-2002, 11:08 PM I recall watching Family Ties as early as 1992! This is my TENTH year watching FT!=) I had a tiny celebration yesterday when I realized that fact. My first channel was WFLD in Chicago. ANyone familiar with WFLD FOX's Chicago station? Well, they kicked butt back then. They aired, Too Close For Comfort, Cosby Show, etc. Then, in 1997, UPN 50 aired it. They still do, but since UPN airs it around 10A.M. I watch it on NAN. NAN and WFLD were my favs. If I had to chose which I liked better, it would be NAN. NAN had better ads for FT and the sound quality is very clear.
mstewart 07-23-2002, 01:51 AM I started watching Family Ties when a friend told me about Meredith Baxter Birney's new series and she was as cute as she was on Family. I took a gander at the show during the first season when it was focus on her and Michael Gross. Meredith was quite cute, especially in the first season, in her pony tails and jeans. Unfortunately the twins aged her quite a bit. She was in her early 40s when the show ended and looked quite old.
LauREN41682 07-23-2002, 02:51 AM I think I started watching it after I met Courteney Cox. We are from the same home town, and my grandmother is a close friend or her mom. Anyway, I started watching for the episodes with Lauren in them, but then I saw the ones with Ellen. I thought that Tracy looked so cute and was such a great actress, so I began watching for her too. I only watch it when there might be a chance they are on, so I don't actually follow it...?
DJM77 07-27-2002, 08:31 PM I started watching Family Ties when it was in its original run on NBC. Probably in the third season.
Impressions 08-04-2002, 01:28 PM I first saw this show on one of my local channels, but when I saw this show on Nick-at-Nite I was like "I know this show", and I watched it a little bit more, and I watch it now sometimes on Nick-at-Nite but its on to late so I don't really watch it
Winnie 08-10-2002, 09:28 PM I also started watching when it first aired. That's when Must See T.V Thursday was Cosby Show, Family Ties, Cheers, and Night Court. Those were happy days... no wait, that was that 70's show.. no wait..
MBFTfan 09-11-2002, 06:47 PM I was only 6 when it went off the air, but my parents always watched it and I remember seeing some episodes with them. When I was older they started showing reruns, and every now and then my father would tape them and tell me about this arch-conservative, money-loving kid, Alex P. Keaton, and how the show was so funny and that I had to see it and we'd watch it. When it came on Nick at Nite, I became instantly hooked and now I watch it all the time. By taping all the episodes and constantly watching them, I got the rest of my family hooked too and now we all love it!
SpinCT 09-12-2002, 04:37 PM I started watching Family Ties on september 2000, when it was on french TV (I'm from France). I watched it because I love Michael J. Fox and I got used to the characters and now i love them all. I'm so sad that the 3 last seasons where never showed in France. :(
