May 14, 2018
Margot Kidder, who played Lois Lane opposite Christopher Reeve in the 1970s and ’80s Superman movies and starred in many other films including The Amityville Horror before struggling with mental illness in her later years, has died. She was 69.
The Franzen-Davis Funeral Home in Livingston, MT, said she died Sunday but did not give a cause of death.
Born on October 17, 1948, in Yellowknife, Canada, Kidder started her career in TV in the late 1960s, guesting on such shows as "McQueen" and "The Mod Squad".
She starred opposite Gene Wilder in the 1970 film Quackster Fortune Has a Cousin in the Bronx before landing a regualr role on the 1971-72 NBC drama "Nichols", starring Jim Garner, and continued to work mostly in TV until appearing in four films in 1974, including The Great Waldo Pepper.

HuntingtonM15 05-14-2018, 01:15 PM I just saw this on another site and came here to post about it because I knew there would be a thread.
So sad and shocking to hear. She was scheduled to be at the comic con here next weekend. I met her at the same comic con in 2013. She was super nice to me.
May she :rip:
Torgo 05-14-2018, 01:44 PM She's in 2 of my favorite horror films Black Christmas (she steals the show with her hilarious performance), and Brian De Palma's Sisters.
Mr. Television 05-14-2018, 02:10 PM So sad. I always thought she was so pretty and she was the best Lois Lane. God rest her soul. :(
Penny Lane 05-14-2018, 02:10 PM Does anybody know what she died of?

Torgo, I can always count on you to steer me to another horror movie! I've never heard of Black Christmas but I just ordered it from amazon. Looks great!
RIP Margot. :(
Edison 05-14-2018, 02:57 PM First saw her in Gaily, Gaily, but really noticed her in Quackser Fortune Has a Cousin in the Bronx. Agree with Torgo on Black Christmas and Sisters, and with Mr. Television on best Lois Lane - and 'so pretty'.

Steve_uk 05-14-2018, 04:48 PM Does anybody know what she died of?
No but if I had to guess I would say she was taking a cocktail of drugs like Heath Ledger and one of her organs just gave out.

Torgo 05-14-2018, 05:44 PM .
Retro4Life 05-14-2018, 09:34 PM She'll always be the only real Lois Lane to me.
I always thought she did a great job with "The Amityville Horror", too, as well as many other roles.
A beautiful, talented and intelligent actress. Her humanity always shone through on the big screen.
Bonniegirl 05-14-2018, 09:55 PM I loved her in the Amityville horror, one of my all time favorite movies!! ;) Very sad to hear of her passing!! :(

Babalu 05-15-2018, 05:48 PM I always liked her onscreen but offscreen she couldn't function. Sad but not a great surprise.
JamesG 08-08-2018, 08:37 PM Superman Actress Margot Kidder’s Death Ruled a Suicide
by Denise Petski
August 8, 2018
The Park County, Montana coroner’s office has ruled Margot Kidder’s death a suicide.
In a statement provided to The Associated Press Wednesday, Coroner Richard Wood said Kidder’s death was “a result of a self-inflicted drug and alcohol overdose.” No further details were released.
Kidder struggled with mental illness through a good part of her life, a situation that was made worse by a 1990 car crash that left her in debt and led to her using a wheelchair for almost two years.
Her most recent role was in 2017 with the indie The Neighborhood.

Penny Lane 08-08-2018, 08:49 PM So sad. She had a lot of mental problems for years so it's not surprising. RIP :(
biffbronson 08-08-2018, 10:39 PM I saw the first Superman film of the Reeve series when it premiered back in 1978, so I've been interested in Ms. Kidder's career for 40 years. The Amityville Horror was also a tremendous success from her earlier years. May she rest in peace.
