Bonniegirl 04-03-2018, 12:52 PM OK come on all you older folks here such as myself! :D As a kid which one did you like better? :) ;) And the younger people can vote too of course, if they have ever tried this cereal. I think it was brought back later maybe in certain stores? ;)

Weren't they pretty much the same cereal, same taste just different shapes? And very similar in flavor to Cap' N Crunch? If I remember correctly ?;) :)
If you would have put "other Quaker guy" in the poll I would have voted for this one

"King Vitamin , have breakfast with the King , King Vitamin have breakfast with the king"!!! I TOTALLY remember the jingle and the commercials, but I REALLY don't remember at all what this cereal tasted like? I'm sure I tried it? My Mom bought all the new cereals for us when they first came out at our begging!!

Poor Original Quake is really lagging behind! :(

Yeah!! I think you are too young ,maybe just born when Quisp & Quake were on their way out! Mid 60's to early 70's was their time , cause I was pretty little when they were in their heyday ! But I remember them so vividly! And we had both at our house. My Sister and I more into Quisp and my Brother into Quake !:) Even though they are really the exact same taste!! And so similar to Cap N' Crunch who survived ! Wow the Cap N is still around these days right? And Quisp can still be found (as per the link Opus posted) but it's very rare !
Anyway!! Hoping we get some more older folks seeing this thread and remembering Quisp and Quake like I do! :)
The reason I started this poll thread was because I was on that A-Z game . What are you not? And I landed on Q ! I had no idea what to post and Quisp and Quake popped into my head!!
MISST3 04-07-2018, 12:35 AM  Older folks!?! Anyway, when I was growing up, my mother and
grandmother, did not believe in "boxed cereals". So, if I had cereal, it was
always oatmeal or malt-o-meal. Subsequently, I've never seen Quisp or Quake. I gave my two boys, boxed cereal, but, Quisp or Quake, I've never heard of, until your post. :)
1960'sTVfan 04-07-2018, 10:31 AM I remember both cereals, I was more of a Quisp fan.
Another kids cereal from around that time was Kaboom. Who remembers that one? It went off the market for awhile but then came back some years later. Below is a link to a picture of the Kaboom cereal box:

Penny Lane 04-07-2018, 12:25 PM I chose Quake because that cereal had just come out when I met my future husband. It was wintertime and he was always wearing these brown boots with yellow laces. So my friend's and I started calling him Quake.
Retro4Life 04-07-2018, 12:33 PM I was about six when this happened, and I voted Quisp. I even got the battery powered propeller beanie. :)
P.S. That cereal was delicious!

Foggy 04-08-2018, 04:43 PM Fun Fact about Quisp and Quake:
Debut in 1965
The commercials often asked children to choose which cereal was better, and to compete over taste or premiums. The competition reached its peak in 1972, when a series of commercials asked kids to vote for which cereal should remain on the shelves. Quake had a makeover in 1969, slimming down and changing his miner hat for an Australian bush hat and Australian accent. Quisp was the winner and Quake cereal was discontinued, but Quake himself introduced a new sidekick, an orange kangaroo named Simon and a new orange-flavored cereal called Quake's Orange Quangaroos. In 1976, Quaker Oats ran another contest, this time asking children to choose between Quisp and Quangaroos. Quisp won again and Quangaroos was discontinued.
In the late 1970s, Quisp was discontinued due to low sales. It was brought back in the mid-1980s, then again in the 1990s and in 2001, where it was relaunched as the "first Internet cereal". Consumers were encouraged to visit the Quisp Web site to view animated endings to cartoons on the back of the cereal box.

ABlairican Pie 04-08-2018, 04:51 PM I was a big fan of Quake, the burly macho miner version, when I was a kid. I ate Quisp, but Quake had more machismo. It was a bit like a heartier version of Cap'n Crunch. I didn't really get into the Aussie Cowboy version of Quake, it was too radical of a change, and it made very little sense.
I remember Quake's Orange Quangaroos, to tie in with the Australian Quake. That did nothing for me. I never ate it. The whole thing was pointless. It was for sugary cereals what was later called a Jump-the-Shark moment or a Cousin Oliver on sitcoms.
Foggy 04-08-2018, 04:52 PM  :D
I remember the beenie caps, my brother and I had ordered them. One of us used all Crisp boxtops, the other all Quake boxtops. We wanted to see if we could get it using Quake boxtops only.
If I remember right, I think there was also a Quake Flashlight helmet that you could send away for using boxtops.
Those were the days! :)

Yes!! That is exactly how my Brother thought too! And most of the neighborhood boys!!;) They were Quake fans for the reason you described! :) Quisp was pink, little and cute and My Sister and I and other girls liked Quisp more! ;)
And the New "Australian Cowboy Quake" I don't think we ever even bought that ? By that time my Brother was older (5 years older than me) and not really into it much anymore I guess, but yeah I kind of remember thinking WTH? What is up with Quake changing?
Thinking about it now, I probably WOULD prefer Quake ! Not because of the mascot and they were basically the same flavor, but I think I would like the thicker crunchier texture of Quake better than Quisp? Maybe ? IDK?
