View Full Version : glasses or contacts?
MyStErIoUs ChIck 05-18-2002, 07:31 PM Hey, do you people prefer glasses or contacts?
I have glasses but I'm so stubborn that I refuse
to wear them. They look cute on me and all (sorry
to be conceited  ) but I don't like how they
feel on my face. I actually lost them for a while.
The funny thing is that I missed them because
I wasn't able to see very well and I got headaches.
Now I'm starting to wear 'em, but I've had these
glasses for a year already. It's about time I get
new ones. I'm wondering if I should get glasses
or contacts. I never really gave myself a chance
to get used to the glasses, so I don't know if I
should give glasses another shot or contacts.
I mean, the glasses look fine on me. I'm not
considering contacts because they look better.
I'm just wondering which ones are more comfy.
If anyone has experience with both glasses and
contacts, I'd appreciate your imput. Which is
more beneficial??
InspectorExstead 05-18-2002, 07:55 PM i've been wearing glasses since 6th grade..that's like 4 yrs. in nov i had to wear them all the time. anyway, i really want contacts really badly, i don't mind the glasses, but i just miss not having them lol. plus soccer season is gonna start soon and knowing me i'll break em so many times. and i can't just take em off cuz i can't see, it's so sad how blind i am.
my friend has contacts and glasses. the contacts sometimes bug her-like once a year or whatever. but she prefers contacts cuz she hates her glasses.
i want contacts!!!!!!!!!!!
DJM77 05-18-2002, 08:25 PM When I first started having problems with my vision I got glasses. I got rid of them within the year because I didn't like wearing them and then I got contacts. I've been wearing contacts for the past eight years.
-*Forever*- 05-18-2002, 08:26 PM I have glasses, but over the summer I'm getting contacts.
vienna waits 05-18-2002, 09:13 PM I have glasses. I want contacts so bad but I can't stand when the eye doctor gets up by my face. And to get contacts he's actually gonna have his finger in eye to show me how to put them in and all. I'm always like back off!! lol then I feel like laughing.
AllIWantIsYourClutch 05-18-2002, 09:26 PM CONTACTS!!!
They're the best!! I hated my glasses!! The worst part is when they teach you how to do it because they're all staring at you and it's hard the first couple times, but then it's a piece of cake.
Ewan's My Man 05-18-2002, 09:29 PM Well, I wear contacts, and I luv em...........so.........yea...lol
Czas na Zywiec 05-18-2002, 09:38 PM Ahh......the age old question. Glasses or Contacts?
Well I had glasses since 5th grade, and I got contacts last June. Let's see, when I had glasses, I went through tons of frames because I always somehow accidentaly broke them. That went on for six years. I've had contacts the last year and so far, no harm done. So if you ask me, CONTACTS!
And OMG Amy, I know what you mean. At first when they showed me the video and how to put them in, I was like WHY THE HELL DID I GET CONTACTS!?!?!?!?!?!? It was like that the first couple of days. I took half an hour just to put my contacts in!!!!!! But now I just take 2 seconds. You really get used to it and even forget that you have them sometimes! It's great because I finally look like I did when I was in 3rd grade. Took a hell of a long time.

YOU GOT A VIDEO?!?!? I DIDN'T!! I remember the night after I got 'em I was in tears cuz I couldn't get 'em out. But it's all good now!

I was in tears beacuse I couldn't get them in! I tried and tried and tried but they wouldn't stick.
LucyFan 05-18-2002, 10:09 PM I wear neither of them because my vision is fairly good still. Eventually, I know I will get them later on my life (hopefully passed the age 50) because eye vision can't be perfect forever.
From what I've seen, contacts I much better because they aren't that hard to loose and you don't have to worry about them as much as you do with glasses.

Prolly cuz you were in tears. LoL. I know what ya mean. It was wierd touching your eye. Now they're like suction cups. You know what I hate? I hate when I go to take one out, and its not there so I end up poking myself in the eye. Or when youy rub your eye and it ends up in the corner halfway inside your face?
Pitooey 05-18-2002, 10:15 PM I wear both.............
At home I wear glasses.
When I go out I wear my contacs.
:)

 Or when you forget to take them out because you fell asleep on the couch in your living room and they get stuck to your eyelids and you're just pushing them higher and higher in your head by blinking.

huh? .....
Kristina 05-19-2002, 12:35 AM I don't need any but if I was you I would get contacts and then buy glasses, push the glass out and wear them with no lens. That's always cute... :D
Mijada 05-19-2002, 10:45 AM I wear glasses. I used to have contacts but I found that they were more trouble than they were worth. I didn't have much trouble getting them in but taking them out was a pain. I always ended up with red eyes and a headache. I am seriously cosidering having laser surgery to correct my nearsightedness.

Kay Scarpetta 05-19-2002, 12:03 PM I'm convincing my mom to get me contacts. I can't wear my glasses. I HATE THEM. I hate anything on my face. I'm straining my eyes to see without my glasses, so she better get me them lol.
Montana Ponine 05-19-2002, 12:42 PM I wear glasses for school cuz i'm nearsighted... Yucky. I think they're reallyyyy annoying and sometimes they make my eyes hurt...but I gotta wear em or else I won't be able to see the board lol.
Swimfan85 05-19-2002, 02:47 PM I tried getting contacts when I was younger but I was too young and not ready for them. I always was losing and or breaking my glasses and then last year I got glasses I liked at the time but then HATED them...my mom was not fond of them either so I convinced her to get me new ones. As far as glasses go, I like mine a lot, but I like my self without glasses although some people are like "you look fine with glasses"....I dunno I want to try contacts again some day

Jus get some sports goggles...so you dont break your glasses...I have mine I wore them when I played soccer, basketball, lacrosse, and softball...I dont need them for hockey(I dont wear anything) cuz of the mask..
QueenOfTheGypsies 05-19-2002, 02:59 PM I'm lucky enough that I don't have to wear either right now, but I know it's coming sometime in the future because both of my parents wear glasses, and my sister is supposed to (but she doesn't).
When that time comes, I'm not sure which would be my preference. I have a tendency to treat my sunglasses badly (I'm always losing them or scratching up the lenses), so I can only imagine what kind of abuse a pair of eyeglasses would get from me. On the other hand, I have a thing about putting stuff in my eyes. I don't know if it's a phobia or what, but I can't even put Visine in my eyes. Just thinking about it makes me shudder, so I think I would have a real problem putting contacts in my eyes. I guess I would just go with glasses and learn to treat them better. :D
KerriBerri687 05-19-2002, 03:03 PM i have glasses. but i only need them for the computer and reading up close....:)

XoVanillaRain90oX 05-19-2002, 08:54 PM i have glasses, but i look better without them! tee hee
dawsongirl 05-19-2002, 09:49 PM I hate the way I look in glasses, so it's contacts for me!
Dude111 01-01-2022, 12:52 AM Glasses for me WITH GLASS LENS which isnt easy to get now... (They complain and try to get you accept plastic crap)
Caroline13 01-01-2022, 03:57 PM I tried to work with contacts in my 20's, long ago, and too frustrating so I stopped and have worn reading and distance glasses for years, I like glasses and have had some great frames in my life.
I had disposable contacts in my early 30's but they were a pain to use and you had to keep ordering them plus buying the solution. It was cheaper just to buy a pair of reading glasses every 2 or 3 years. I could read large print but small print required glasses.
