View Full Version : Creepiest photos on Unsolved Mysteries...
ramirez412001 01-03-2018, 09:46 AM Hey guys,
What is the creepiest photo of a person you ever saw on the show? For me, it's Dennis and Marylin Depue.
LooksLikeCRicci 01-03-2018, 03:12 PM That's a good one.
For me, it's Elizabeth Campbell's purse. I'm not kidding, but that picture scared the ever loving crap out of me.
Also, one of the pictures of Judith Hymes scared me pretty bad as a kid...
SDR-1970 01-03-2018, 03:34 PM Hey guys,
What is the creepiest photo of a person you ever saw on the show? For me, it's Dennis and Marylin Depue.
Is this case available on amazon? If so what season/episode is it? Thanks
unsolved88 01-03-2018, 03:38 PM So many to choose from:
Terri Hoffman
Wadada's deformed hand sketch
Elena Souza
Eduwigis Escalante (My jaw still drops when they list her age as 51, ditto to Lupita/Emma Figueroa being 41.)
The burned-out remains of Kristi Krebs' car
Selena Edon's accident scene photos
Joe Welden Smith
Also, I find pictures of victims taken just before their death to be very haunting. The man calling himself Tom Hughes had his picture taken just hours before he had his fatal heart attack. Rachael Runyan had a family portrait (not shown in segment, but available online) taken the day before her abduction. The segment also showed a pic of her wearing the same dress she was wearing the day she vanished and added that she might be wearing it in the alleged snuff movie. Stuff like that just gives me chills.
drew790 01-03-2018, 03:55 PM I forget the name of the victim, but it involved a motorcycle death and the sketch of the suspect with the craziest eyes and brows.
dynoguy88 01-03-2018, 04:20 PM I'll throw these in the maybe pile? I know Tina Resch has been written off. But I struggle with how she pulled this off in front of two newspaper reporters, her foster parents and a Child Services caseworker...
http://jamesaconrad.com/images-Tina/Tina-Resch-frame25-793x575.jpg
The above photo was the one printed in the Columbus Dispatch in 1984. This second rare photo shows two phones flying across Tina and towards Lee Arnold, who was a child services caseworker. (Apparently the reason for the second phone was because the foster parents had bought a cheaper one because their regular one was malfunctioning.)
http://jamesaconrad.com/images-Tina/Tina-Resch-frame32-800x554.jpg
dynoguy88 01-03-2018, 04:32 PM Also, one of the pictures of Judith Hymes scared me pretty bad as a kid...
I only remember one photo they used of Judith. Were there others?
On a sidenote, it's stunning to me that she was only 22. That picture made her look so much older.
MegtheEgg86 01-03-2018, 07:28 PM This photo of James Donald King always freaked me out all blown up on the TV with that music rolling.

Corkys-Place 01-03-2018, 11:03 PM Any photo of a Homicide Victim or Missing Person that's really bad in quality creeps me out for some reason.
Seeing as 95% of Cases profiled were pre Digital Cameras this was quite common.
ramirez412001 01-04-2018, 07:50 AM That's a good one.
For me, it's Elizabeth Campbell's purse. I'm not kidding, but that picture scared the ever loving crap out of me.
Also, one of the pictures of Judith Hymes scared me pretty bad as a kid...
Can't say a purse ever creeped me out...but I'm guessing it was the age-progression photo of her? (Judith)
ramirez412001 01-04-2018, 07:57 AM Is this case available on amazon? If so what season/episode is it? Thanks
Season 3, episode 20.
Also, the movie "Jeepers Creepers" (released in 2001) has almost certainly used the first several minutes of that segment as inspiration. (If not a major element of the plot)
http://wickedhorror.com/features/dennis-depue-the-real-life-killer-that-inspired-jeepers-creepers/
ramirez412001 01-04-2018, 08:00 AM For some reason, the second sketch of the Canadian Hitchhiker that Philip Fraser picked up still gives me the willies.
ramirez412001 01-04-2018, 08:06 AM The photo of the 1980 Donald Eugene Webb always creeped me out.
The age progression one? No so much. That one has kind of a "Yo, Adrian!" look to it.
His remains were found in June of last year, his wife hid him after he died from a series of strokes in 1999.

I was thinking that was from UM! I was like "Uhhh....I don't remember this segment!"

I've always wondered about Tim McClure, especially his bewilderment about being considered a suspect in his mother's death and his feelings about the lie detector test and feeling like a victim.
Every time I see that segment, I think of Lennie Briscoe..."This is no interrogation. When we interrogate you, believe me you'll know it."
LooksLikeCRicci 01-04-2018, 02:03 PM Oh, s**t.
I've forgotten the WORST picture UM ever showed. THE WORST.
Jasper Watkins, aka Steamer Trunk John Doe. They showed his post-mortum picture in order to ID him. It worked. And that picture scarred me for life.
LooksLikeCRicci 01-04-2018, 02:05 PM I only remember one photo they used of Judith. Were there others?

I actually recall watching that segment in 1992. I remember watching the Clifford Sherwood segment as well. It may have been around the same time. For some reason the old man pic of Tex Sherwood that they showed creeped me out. I can’t find it online anywhere. I also can’t find the segment on RS amazon.

spiraleyes 01-06-2018, 08:19 PM When Robert Stack says "Janice was starting to become a suspect in her own daughter's disappearance" (although as it turns out it was Angela and Eric Mize) gave me the chills when I saw it.

Great thread. Something about how this shows zooms up in close to pictures slowly with that dark synth line and Robert Stack's voice is usually disturbing.
Then there's one that I can't find that shares similarities with the Depue's photo. It's the one of Jerry and Brenda Bowen on where he has a suit on.
spiraleyes 01-06-2018, 08:30 PM This one is in the same sequence of photos of the one I mentioned above that I can't find but it has the same effect – scary murderer.

Don Hoffman's video at the beginning of this segment is creepy as hell too!
charmedsignora 01-25-2018, 04:12 PM There was a segment one time about two young men, one black and one white, that robbed a post office and then drove the postal worker out to the middle of nowhere and then just left her there. At the end of the segment, they showed artists' reconstructions of the two culprits.
The black man's portrait was one of the creepiest photos I've ever seen.

unsolved88 01-25-2018, 09:48 PM I just found my copy of the NBC airing of the 1/24/90 episode which featured a repeat of the Tara Calico/Michael Henley segment with a missing child roll call tacked on at the end. The first of the missing children profiled was seven-year-old Leticia Hernandez who went missing from her Oceanside, CA apartment complex on December 16, 1989. She was reportedly seen multiple times with her abductors, described as a white male and female with "light-colored hair". The result was these two composites. If they hadn't mentioned that the first one was a male, I'd have thought it was two women.
