Double beds, smaller than queen-sized beds, were much more common.

Yep!! ;) The bed my parents had when I was a kid and still had for many years was really small! Just a double! Seemed like there really wasn't enough room for two people to sleep comfortably in! :confused:

Hey, at least they didn't sleep in two single beds like Lucy & Ricky and Rob & Laura.

uhh - maybe because they needed it small enough that they wouldn't have 6 kids and a maid trying to crawl into bed with them every time there was a thunderstorm
