I wonder that too, as whenever a voice actor passes away, they retire the character. They can't simply retire Homer or Marge or Bart or Lisa. The dude who did Homer in the first season sounds different than the one now. I thought I heard a report that the one who originally did Bart Simpson passed away, but maybe not.
