"Family Matters" Home to be Demolished

Sept. 21, 2017

Chicago is losing a little piece of television history.

The Lincoln Park home that served as the exterior for the Winslow house on "Family Matters" is being demolished, EW has confirmed. The City of Chicago Department of Buildings issued a permit for its demolition on Sept. 19.

The house, located at 1516 W. Wrightwood Ave., served as the Winslow home in exterior shots on the ’90s sitcom and played a prominent role in the show’s opening credits.

Reportedly, the house is being replaced by a three-unit residence and the entryway will pay tribute to the location’s history with framed photographs of the house and the "Family Matters" cast.

Maybe Warner Bros. will build a model of the house the way they did with the Full House one.

Maybe they will find the bones of little Judy Winslow under the house.

Maybe they will find the bones of little Judy Winslow under the house.
And the original Harriette.

I hate when places from the past get torn down to build big buildings.

Why the demolition?

The property owners decided that it'd be more cost-efficient to replace the house than to renovate the house!

And I was gonna visit that area...now there's no point!
