STAR MAGAZINE....
Cosby Show cast members are ecstatic that lisa Bonet has refused to take part
in the upcoming 10th anniversary reunion -- because they didn't want her there!
Bill Cosby was ready to let bygones be bygones and invited his troubled TV
daughter back, even after other show regulars begged him not to, Star has
learned.
But Bonet, 34, who played Denise on the '80s sitcom, snubbed him. "Lisa says
she wants no part of the reunion," says a show insider. "That was fine with the
rest of the cast because they didn't want her on board anyway."
Bonet, who changed her name to Lilakoi Moon in the mid-'90s, issued a statement
saying: "It was a take it or leave it, with or without you kind of offer and I
felt devalued and disrespected. I was just not feeling the love."
And the truth is there was no love there.
"We all felt Lisa spit on Bill one too many times and no one wanted her
negative energy around," declares one outspoken cast member. "Year after year
we watched Bill throw Lisa one bone after another and all she did was bite his
hand. The rest of us were happy to be on a hit show, but Lisa didn't seem to
appreciate her good fortune."
The Cosby Show Reunion, NBC's two-hour special airing May 19, features clips
and interviews with all the show's regulars, except Bonet.
What makes her absence even more shocking is the fact that even after Bonet
embarrassed straight-laced Cosby with her erotic performance in 1987's Angel
Heart, he asked her to reprise the Denise character in his new series A
Different World.
She left that show in 1989, and returned to the Cosby Show for two more years.
Bonet, who married musician Lenny Kravitz in 1987 and divorced him in 1993, now
lives in Los Angeles. They have a daughter, Zoe, 13.
Cosby's longtime publicist David Brokaw tells Star: "Bill holds nothing against
Lisa. He understands she has to do what she has to do and he wishes her the
best."
But insiders say Bonet is an ingrate.
"If anyone owes an allegiance to Cosby, it's Lisa," says the source. "She's
hardly done anything since the show went off the air and it's a disgrace the
way she's treated him."
