Do you believe the Apollo Moon Landing was Faked? I really Don't know if I think it was or not. I think I do believe its Faked but well, I am not sure.

Anyway here is an interesting website that is trying to prove it was faked. The site is like 26 pages long.

I think I saw a tv special on FOX about this and they had all this evidence that it could've been faked like that they weren't walking the right speed they would be if they were truly on the moon.

...'cause I saw it on TV!

And I suppose you think Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny are fake too, smarty pants! :D

Seriously though...if it indeed was faked, the parties involved did one HECKUVA job covering it up! We're talking astronauts, their families, engineers, electricians, technicians, even janitors had to keep things under wraps!

I just find it hard to believe THAT many people can keep their mouths shut THAT long!

You do have a good point there.

Oh great! Another conspiracy chat!

When you think about it, the folks at mission control were watching the whole thing on a TV screen. So, the signal could have come from anywhere. It's not like they had an entire press corps full of network news cameras following some astronauts on the moon. And what about the big spacesuits the astronauts wear? Can't exactly see their faces in those things, can you?

Basically the astronauts did launch themselves in space, while the exploits on the surface of the moon were filmed somewhere on earth and those images sent to mission control, which in turn showed them to us. Then the capsule lands in the ocean, and bingo, a moon landing hoax.

At least that's what I think happened...
;)

We'll know soon enough...the Japenese are sending up a probe to the moon sometime in the next few years that will take pictures of the moon...if the flag is not there, then it is faked.

But I agree JennyLee if it turns out not to be real..

I'm sorry but this is rediculous! I've never heard of a stupider theory than to say that we never landed on the moon. The people that honestly think that just want to think it - conspiracy freaks. We DID land on the moon - there is not a doubt in my mind. And it's not because I don't know about the theory, it's just that if you think about it, the theory is weak at best.

1) People aren't walking the right speed on the moon. Um, people control their own speed, suspended by the forces of gravity, and take into account that this is footage from the 1950s.... you have your answer.

2) The flag was waving when there isn't any wind on the moon. Well the flag wasn't exactly "waving" it is spread out stiff. The flag was specially crafted at Nasa so that it would be stiffened out when placed on the moon.

I won't go on and on, but I think it's a great insult to the truly wonderful pioneers of our time like Neil Armstrong to even suggest that he didn't do what he worked so hard to do. He deserves his fame - as does every man and woman that made it on the Apollo missions. BTW, do you think they faked APOLLO 13??? Where would be the benifit in that?

If the flag was waving, wouldn't that mean that the moon landing was fake? I mean, for the flag to be waving, there has to be an atmosphere or some sort of wind, right? And, if there is no atmosphere on the moon, how could any of that be possible?

The flag is not "waving."

The astronaut is trying to twist the pole into the lunar surface. Watch the film carefully... you can see him twisting the pole. That will make the flag "wave." The flag, btw, is not limp because they put wire or something else in the fabric so that the flag will appear to be waving.

There are some areas in any clump of land that are particularly soft or hard. It looks to me that they selected a spot for the pole that was not the best location for supporting the flagpole.

As far as Neil Armstrong speaking up...
To begin with, why should he? But more importantly, Armstrong has always been ultra private. He does not like the spotlight.

Try asking Dr Buzz Aldrin. You can bet that he would have some very harsh words to say about this claim. However, again... Why should he? Why dignify the foolishness of it all with any sort or acknowledgement?

All I'm saying is........... Is I watched that moon landing as a kid. Then now these scientist are coming out with proof that we never went to the moon in the 1st place. They see all these shadows of the Rocket ship and the astronauts shadows and the flag waving up there.......... I'm not a scientist
but, It looked pretty bright up there in that moon. Were there some sort of cameras up there? Hmmm.... I just hope that we were not bamboozled again like the JFK assasination.

As for Neil Armstrong or Buzz Aldren speaking up. I think they should say something after all "We the public demand some answers"!!!

Who knows......... maybe Neil (He is a private man - You're right about him Mysty eyes!) doesn't want to answer our claims and if Buzz doesn't say anything than I'll continue to be more suspicious...

I still have to ask, are people thinking that all of the Apollo missions were faked? Then what was to be gained from Apollo 13? Having the entire country terrified that we might not be able to get these three astronauts back safely - why in the world would they fake that?

Kitt

I don't think that it was faked. I agree with what Liza said, and about the waving flag not being 'astounding and supportive' evidence of it being a fake landing.

Jenny lee 22, instead of getting so redfaced angry about it why don't you look to some web sites or go to the library and read up on the subject so you can come to a conclusion that isn't based only on some television production. And don't expect the astronauts to come forwrard to address this conspiracy theory. Why should they be expected to bare the burden of proof against every nincompoop theory that comes along?

I have read people that say they watched the moon landings, maybe you did, but what you watched WAS NOT live. It was only broadcast live in a certain part of Australia due to some satellite feed crap, and it was very early in the morning there also. First time viewers in Australia even reported seeing one astronaut or someone on the side, accidentally kick a coke bottle into camera view. When the re-play aired later that day in Australia, the "coke" footage was edited out. Australian newspapers reported that morning the claims from eye wittnesses who saw the event the first time it played, and you can find those articles in credible places (websites, libraries, etc... ), along with other evidence.
This whole thing was faked, and it was a shameless attempt to look smarter and more advanced than any other country. There was A LOT of heat surrounding America and the things it was doing at this time (my god, did you forget Vietnam)??? The American government/NASA is a shameless wasteland, and it always will be.
Why not fake a moon walk?, they faked Public relations during Vietnam, hell they sent teenagers to do their fighting for them. They didn't give a rat's ass about the lives of those teenagers, and they didn't give a rat's ass about faking a moon walk.. When someone/something(like the government) feels that it has enough power, they will eventually abuse that power, bottom line, if you think America does not abuse their power, you are very confused.
Don't be one of the suckers who falls for the line of "my country right or wrong", and don't be a sucker who thinks that Uncle Sam is your friend. Go talk to a Vietnam vet and ask him if he still feels that way.
In reality, it was very easy to fake this, because you have nieve ciizens who believe anything their wicked government tells them, I guess a sucker will always be a sucker. Many U.S. citizens are just puppets on a string, they will believe anybody representing the government wearing a suit, talking on the news channel.
If you don't believe the moon conspiracy, then at least believe this, NO politician, NO vote, NO government can save this world, and make it right again. Only Jesus Christ can save this world, and some politicians/presidents think they have that power.
One example is the people of the government, and people who believe in politics, etc.. they claim to be trying to make a peaceful world, we are now hearing claims that some people think they can make peace in Jerusalem. This is absurd. The world as you know it will never be peaceful, until after a seven year tribulation which will end after the Battle of Armagedon. What is the point to this paragraph?? The point is that if basically a whole religious sector like Christians can be led to believe false things by political/government figures, then how easy is it for them to fool someone just watching t.v.??? The politicians, etc.. can fool people into believing anything, if they are nieve enough.
The point is that if I can walk into my Church and hear people talking about casting votes to save the world, then it's very easy for political figures to fool people. They have fooled some people into thinking we walked on the moon, hell, they have even fooled some Christians into a conflict with the Bible.
A SUCKER WILL ALWAYS BE A SUCKER, and if you think the government/politics is your friend, then you are very confused. You are the same people who swing golf clubs and tennis rackets at the country club. You may think that you look "cool", but your dumb as a door knob, and that''s how EASY it was to make this and other hoaxes. It was easy because of brainwashed U.S citizens who believe anything that an uptight and overpaid suit and tie guy has to say... Wow, my typing fingers are tired now.

Have a Nice Day

I didn't see the TV program, I read the web site that One Bullett went on about. I'm not a sucker who believes anything the government puts out and I know a great deal of what went on in Vietnam. While the US government has a long history of twisting the truth I don't happen to think that that is the case in this instance. On the web site that One Bullett told us about there was something peculiar that I noticed in the writing style of it's author. He used (???) often and (!!!) often to stress points and make more quizzical the "unanswered" questions about the "conspiracy". And, you know what? One Bullett used (???) in his writings to us today. Gee, could this be a conspiracy? Could One Bullettt be the author of the web site he is leading us "suckers" to read?

Hey JennyLee22, I don't believe Kitt is Hell bent on proving you wrong. I've had MANY "discussions" :) with Kitt and they have always been civil discussions.

I believe the reason Kitt seems upset is from all of the accusations and name calling that One Bullet had in their post. For example:
The American government/NASA is a shameless wasteland, and it always will be.[/qute]
[quote]They (the government) didn't give a rat's ass about the lives of those teenagers (in Vietnam), and they didn't give a rat's ass about faking a moon walk.

And I'm basically 'sitting on a fence' regarding this issue...ie, it coulda happened one way or another.

But as I've said before...I just find it hard that SO many people involved with such a 'scam' could remain silent for SO long!

I mean, look at people who sell out with much less at stake! Rags like the 'Weekly World News' and 'National Enquirer' will pay good money for pics of celebrities cheating on their 'significant others' and other scandalous events. But a 'faked moon shot'?! If I were a big-wig at the 'Enquirer', I think I'd 'bet the farm' and pay a bundle to someone involved to step forward and expose such a scam! So far though, I haven't seen any headlines like that at the supermarket...yet!

As for the 'sucker' comments...I think you're being a bit too harsh One Bullett. I don't feel I was a 'sucker' for wanting to believe what was happening on the moon that day. Maybe more a sense of pride for the technical achievements we were 'supposedly' making.

Some day we might know all...and then again, could remain a mystery 'til the end of time!

This isn't between you and me, JennyLee 22. This is a board discussion, and what you have alligned yourself with (that being One Bullet's screed) has become the issue that I've tried to get clear on as to where you stand. To agree or disagree about the moon landing is a simple matter of opinion, and if that was all there was to this then that would be that. But the direction that One Bullet took, insulting rhetoric and character assassinations - such as what Ags has quoted - connected to anyone who believes that the moon landing did happen, is the very definition of bigotry. Since you had said that you agreed with him, I wanted to be sure because that's a much different issue than the moon landing. You've held course with One Bullet, so, now... I guess I know where you stand.

I talked about thhis in January in my social studies class. That was one of the only days in that class whne i was not bored and dozed off.

...especially the lack of bounces of the 'lunar rover' and the height of the astronauts jumps.

Sure...the astronauts could have jumped up to 19 feet with 1/6th the gravity of Earth. Sure...the 'lunar rover' could have bounced a lot higher than it seemed. But don't you think the astronauts were instructed to behave themselves with respect to movement and (more importantly) speed?

I'm sure that the astronauts were briefed to walk as slowly as possible...jump ONLY as high as necessary...and watch their 'speed limit'!

After all...why would anyone want to be SO reckless the first time on the Moon with the whole world watching?

The theories about the moon landing being a fake have been around ever since Neil Armstrong first set foot on the moon in July, 1969. I've never believed for one minute that the moon landing was faked.

It's a tribute to the tenacity and ingenuity of the American people that we were able to fulfill John F. Kennedy's challenge to land a man on the moon and bring him (actually 3 men) home safely before the end of the 1960s.

Nobody else to this day has matched that feat - and we did with 1960s technology!

I happen to agree with some of what "One Bullet" had to say - but for different reasons. Too many people in this country accept at face value whatever the politicians tell them. They rely on 10 second sound bites that they hear on the evening news to form an opinion on the issues. In many cases, they allow peer pressure to dictate what their opinion should be. My advice is to dig deeper than the sound bites, headlines, and the catch phrases used by the political spin doctors. Keep an open mind, consider all sides, dig into the details of the issues, then decide where you stand on a given topic.

I believe in less government interference in our lives, and greater individual choices by the people. However, the Federal government definitely has a critical role in some areas. National Defense is probably the most obvious area. As for the Middle East, maybe the U.S. can't help to bring peace to the region - we've been trying for decades. That doesn't mean we shouldn't keep trying.

Getting back to the moon landing, here's something that I found amusing: In July, 1997, the whole country saw the spectacular pictures sent back to Earth by the Mars Pathfinder robot from the surface of Mars. Democratic Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, a member of the Congressional Aeronautics and Space Subcommittee, actually asked if the Pathfinder would be able to send back pictures of the flag planted there by the astronauts! (maybe nobody clued her in on the conspiracy!)

Okay now if the astronauts are bouncing around in slow motion. Is the flag waving in slow motion. Just a question? By the way I love all the articles posted here. It makes one think doesn't it?

A couple of people on this thread have commented that the astronauts could have bounced or jumped much higher on the moon's surface than they actually did. They are citing this as evidence that they wern't really on the moon.

There's a very good reason why the astronauts were so cautious on the moon - you can't take any chances in a situation like that. Remember, nobody had ever been there before, so they didn't really know what to expect. With the moon's limited gravity, it would have been very easy to "bounce" away from the lunar lander, then find yourself in a situation where you can't make your way back to it. You also don't want to take a chance on having your helmet come loose, damaging your oxygen tanks, or causing a tear in the space suit. If any of these things were to happen - you're dead!

In some of the later moon landings, they were able to venture further away from their ship by driving around in the "moon buggy". Again, you don't want to take chances - if they flipped it over, or caused damage to the buggy, they'd never be able to make it back to the lunar lander, and their bodies would still be somewhere on the moon.

As for the flag they planted, there's a very simple explanation as to why the flag looks like it's waving in the breeze (even though there's no breeze on the moon): There were wires interwoven throughout the flag so that it would stick out straight, instead of simply lying limp on the flag pole.
