I wonder if a Like button feature would work. Basically a way to let another poster know you've read and/or enjoyed their post. A lot of times I've read an interesting thread or post, but I don't really have anything else to add, so I just move on and the poster may never know anyone read their thread because it got no replies.

I don't know how/if vBulletin would handle such a feature but it's just a thought.

I think that's an awesome idea. I feel the same way you do about it. I think it would work.

I suggested the same thing for the reason when I first started here:wave:

(At another site I post at it even lets you see who liked it, if the total doesn't get too high)

They should also have an Ambivalent button.

A like button would be nice.

I'm all for it as long as a 'dislike' button comes with it.

I can't wait to start giving those out.

In my opinion, adding a like button, dislike button, or anything else related, would not be a good idea. I think it would cause problems. This is a message board, not Facebook.

It's on practically all the other message boards I belong too. Never caused a problem.

I think a like button would be OK, but a dislike woudn't!! I think it would hurt people's feelings if people were giving their posts a thumbs down cause everyone is entitled to their opinion. Unless someone is being mean or rude, posters shouldn't give other posters a "dislike"!:(

So I think like button, yes OK,even though I'm not that thril led with that idea!!

Nay on a dislike button!!!:p

To me it's almost like we already have them.

 = like
:thumbsdow = dislike

But that artificially adds to my post count, whereas a like button wouldn't.

I agree with most of the sentiment about the dislike button. Personally I see that as causing more harm than good, for the reasons Bonnie mentioned.

There's no point in having a 'like' button without a 'dislike' button.

Yeah, there really wouldn't be much point in having a "Like" button without a "Dislike" button. I agree. I'm all for like/dislike buttons! It'd be fun!

No dislike buttons would cause problems. Most of the other message boards I'm on only has a like button.

I guarantee that a dislike button will start drama and fights. A like button is different and serves a different purpose, as outlined in my original post. I don't know, maybe a like button will start fights too, but all I know is if we can't get one without the other I'd be happy to drop the whole thing.

It sounds horrible. If there was a like button , the site would become similar to Facebook. There's no need for a like button and things are fine as they are right now.

I think people would be using the dislike button on your dislike button idea.

Well I personally think S.O. online is fine just the way it is!;) Doesn't really need a like button! But if we do get that here, it's OK I won't complain! If more people want it than don't want it it's only fair! ;)

I still hold my ground on the dislike button! I think it will start fights and feelings will be hurt!:(

There's no point in having a 'like' button without a 'dislike' button.Facebook has had a like button for years with no need for a dislike button. Likes are positive, dislikes would just lead to a lot of fights, hurt feelings, and negativity.

Some of the newer versions of vBulletin have like buttons or links, but I've read they have caused security issues and hackers target them. I don't think we would ever enable a like button.

Good point. It's probably an easy target for spammers also.

Yeah! That's cool! I really didn't think we needed a Like button here. S.O. is just fine as it is! ;) :)
