Pepper 05-10-2002, 05:52 PM Rosanne bought the rights to it some time ago. so far nothing has happened with it, as it had to be tamed down so much it was hardly recognizable. The talk was that Kirstie Alley would be Eddy and Jeri Hall would be Patsy. Central Perk 05-10-2002, 06:08 PM Thanks for the information. mikenyc 05-12-2002, 09:52 AM I hope Kirsty reverses her collogen lip treatment before she does the show ! She is just toooo over the top sometimes. 80sTrivia 05-25-2002, 11:54 PM Thank goodness the American version of ABFAB never got off the ground! It would pale in comparison to the original, which is so hilarious!!! :) Plata 08-03-2002, 07:17 PM My parents used to watch this show. I never really cared for it much, though. But, I'm sure it's a great show. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Bring Happy Days, Silver Spoons, I Dream Of Jeannie and Family Ties to DVD and VHS Petition http://www.Petitiononline.com/DVDVHS/petition.html Petition Deadline: August 15th 2002 Sitcomwriter 09-15-2002, 09:02 PM Actually there WAS an American version of this.I think it was called "The Heights".Jean Smart was in it. Goldenboi 09-30-2002, 12:18 AM You can buy the complete British version on DVD. Thats great news I love this show especially the "drug" references, you don't see those on american tv. rob17 10-11-2002, 02:43 PM Yeah, that's the great thing about British sitcoms :D Over here, provided the programme is shown after 9pm you can get away with pretty much anything. FLBcat2 01-07-2003, 08:06 PM Ab fab is on Oxygen and WE also BBC america.By the way here are the connections of Ab FabFeatured in How to Be Absolutely Fabulous (1995) (TV) "Seriously Funny: An Argument for Comedy" (1996) (mini) "Laughter in the House: The Story of British Sitcom" (1999) (mini) 100 Greatest TV Moments, The (1999) (TV) Night of a Thousand Shows (2000) (TV) 100 Greatest TV Characters, The (2001) (TV) It's Your New Year's Eve Party (2001) (TV) Remade as "Cybill" (1995) "High Society" (1995) Absolument fabuleux (2001) Referenced in French & Saunders Live (2000) (V) Version of Absolument fabuleux (2001) Follows "French and Saunders" (1987) Followed by Absolutely Fabulous: A Life (1998) (V) Anna 03-06-2003, 10:04 PM Was English actress Jane Asher in any of the shows? I recall hearing she was friends with the actresses that played the main characters. Thanks in advance Tourmaline 03-27-2003, 07:12 PM Jane Asher was never in AbFab, however she appeared in French & Saunders as herself - the third series of F&S (1990) had a running gag about Jane Asher, and she visited the duo in the final episode & presented them with custard pies in the faces. And yes, I think the Americanised version of AbFab never got off the ground because after removing the drug/alcohol references at the request of the networks the programme was unrecogniseable - the same criticism was made of the US version of Men Behaving Badly - I heard a critic describe the US version as "Men Who Sometimes Forget To Do The Washing-Up". |
