"2 Broke Girls" has been canceled after six seasons, EW has learned.
The CBS comedy starring Kat Dennings and Beth Behrs has been averaging 7 million total viewers and a 1.8 in the 18-49 demographic, placing it firmly on the bubble for the first time in the show’s run.

It got a little more expensive and a little less popular each season. Plus CBS didn't own the show (http://forums.previously.tv/topic/4152-all-episode-talk/?page=5), WB did. It still never got bad ratings, but I guess it just didn't make enough financial sense for CBS to lease the show from WB anymore.
RetroTVNitekatt 05-13-2017, 04:08 PM So anyone starting a "Save 2 Broke Girls" Campaign? Doesn't seem to be much demand for one on social media...
Yong Fang 05-13-2017, 06:36 PM I tried to watch it, but the show was so crude, and honestly this comes from a fairly crude person. I actually like crude humor if it is done well (liked BOTH Bad Santa films, The Big Lebowski, and the series "Shameless" (U.S.). So 2 Broke Girls to me wasn't even good crude humor. I would be embarrassed to watch this show with some members of my family, especially my older parents. No television show shouldn't be where most all the family (people over 8 years old) can watch).
I also did not like the characterization of the Asian-American boss. He is shown as a weakling and a nerd, which is exactly the characterization that Asian and Asian American men are stereotyped as. I know there are some intelligent Asian American characters, but this was over the pale.
The best moment of the show I ever saw (and no, I have not watched the last three seasons of the show) was when Caroline (Beth Bahr who I find to be the more attractive of the two of them) get her "new pants", and plays a 'Fire is going to burn' while shaking that wonderful ass of hers in a twerk.
Also, life isnt sex, sex, sex, sex, sex, sex, sex, sex, sex, sex. Seriously. Sometimes I think these shows were written by teenage boys.
James28 05-13-2017, 08:54 PM I have hailed 2 Broke Girls as one of the greatest guilty pleasures in the history of U.S. broadcast television, along with Two and a Half Men and the Fox Network's animated comedies.
I found myself taking a liking to 2 Broke Girls about a couple of months after its premiere, and since then, I have watched less than half of its episodes live. This includes its 6th-season finale, and I don't think it felt like a series finale. I was one of those people who thought there could be an abbreviated seventh season of 13-18 episodes for 2BG to wrap things up after what happened in the 6th season finale. Sadly, it was more of CBS's scheduling needs for the 2017-18 season than the fact that it's produced by an outside studio that resulted in 2BG's unexpected cancellation by CBS. After Two and a Half Men and Mike & Molly each had proper a proper send-off in the past couple of years, I do not think it's fair that 2 Broke Girls can't get that same chance.
I think 2 Broke Girls should move to TBS like American Dad! and Cougar Town did after they were let go by their respective networks.
JamesG 05-13-2017, 09:17 PM Beth Behrs and Kat Dennings Thank "2 Broke Girls" Viewers
by Greg Evans
May 13, 2017
Not that they’re hoping for a repeat of "Timeless‘" rare cancellation reversal, but the stars of CBS’ recently axed "2 Broke Girls" took to Twitter today to thank fans for the six-season ride.
"We've had a wonderful 6 Seasons as Max and Caroline and we thank all of you for watching and enjoying it along with us. We are so proud of our time on 2 Broke Girls and of all the things this experience has given us, the most treasured is our lifelong friendship.
With love,
Kat and Beth"

Svenfan1234 05-13-2017, 09:53 PM About time for this show to end.
Chocolate Moose 05-14-2017, 04:30 PM I'm surprised but not shocked. All good things come to an end.
I hope the cast saved their money. I liked the show but it wasn't the show of the century.
the truth 05-14-2017, 05:29 PM OK, let's bring back some of the memories of this show: What's the funniest line or segment that you can remember? Yes, it'll probably be a sexual one as that was all things Broke. Mine, or at least the line I'm thinking about now was:
Caroline: Oleg, you've never kissed Sophie?
Oleg: Not on the lips of her face.

Funniest segment goes to the two Jewish boys, Shmuley and David in "2 Broke Girls and the Kosher Cupcakes". I thought I was gonna die laughing at them!
I would say I liked season 1 the best. Liked the one where Sophie moves in upstairs and is making noise. Max writes her the "horrible, horrible note - with threats" (I will gut you like a hog!) We find out fast that Sophie will eat most of their cupcakes throughout the show, but ironically, it was really Caroline who she hit it off with the best at the start, since Max wrote the note and stayed quiet. That changed fast though and Sophie liked Max much more the rest of the show, often to the point of totally ignoring Caroline, who she saw as a pretty empty person with little value.
Other moments?
Svenfan1234 05-14-2017, 05:42 PM More of these "big" stations are probably going to follow CBS's example and cancel more of their sitcoms too. Ratings are dropping more and more lately with people streaming instead. And more of these channels, like CBS, HAVE streaming apps and services where they can just unload their shows and crank out as many seasons as they like.
Mr. Television 05-14-2017, 05:50 PM I liked it at first but it just got so far out there. I hope they at least had time to film a proper final.
Retro4Life 05-14-2017, 08:48 PM I watched it once; honestly did not laugh once. Like most modern comedies, I just never believe these are real people I am looking at.
Sorry for the fans; like Sonny said, with six seasons they deserved a good finale.
biffbronson 05-15-2017, 01:13 AM I admit to being mesmerized by Beth Behrs, especially when she had her hair at its longest (with long bangs). I guess you could say I'll miss seeing her new work so regularly, moreso than the series itself. I'll still watch in syndication.
Mace Dolex 05-15-2017, 01:50 PM This is smashing sensational news, I think it lasted way too long and I was tiring of it, I like R-rated raunchy comedies but not when it's done on a TV show that is meant for family viewing.
loaferman 05-15-2017, 02:15 PM The show had promise at first, admittedly low-brow humor but still. It seemed like the writers and producers became complacent. There really wasn't much growth in characters or story. I suspect that quick TBS rerun deal for good money kept it safe for a few seasons.
It looks like networks in the face of declining ratings are going to own the shows they keep in the future. I think The Big Bang Theory is going the be the last sitcom to get very high ratings and command top dollar for the actors ans production company.
Had CBS owned 2 Broke Girls it would have been renewed I think. The only other CBS comedy I watch is TBBT and given the brevity of the episodes I watch on DVD or DVR rather than sitting through all those commercials for 19 minutes of show some weeks.

Best scene was when the guy offered Caroline a neck rub in lieu of a cash tip. Even if you hated the show that scene has to at least rate a guilty chuckle.
JamesG 05-17-2017, 06:29 PM CBS Scheduling Chief Says “It Was Time” for "2 Broke Girls'" Cancellation
by Nellie Andreeva
May 17, 2017
The highest-profile casualty at CBS this season was veteran comedy "2 Broke Girls", canceled after six seasons. Why did the network ax its utility player, which was still doing OK in the ratings?
“2 Broke Girls was a really good show for us for a very long time,” CBS head of scheduling Kelly Kahl told Deadline. “Our comedy development this year was very good and whenever your comedy development is really good, it puts a lot of pressure on some of your older shows. We felt creatively it was time and we had to create some space on the schedule to get some new product on.”
Was the decision entirely creative and scheduling or it came down to business? "2 Broke Girls", which is not cheap, comes from Warner Bros TV, and there had been rumblings about the network seeking a piece of the show’s lucrative backend.
“I think it was a creative decision more than anything else,” Kahl said. “It was not a show we own but we picked up Me, Myself & I and By The Book from Warner Bros. So I don’t think it was a business decision, I think it was creatively we felt it was time.”
"2 Broke Girls", starring Kat Dennings and Beth Behrs, got off to a blazing start in the 2011-12 season. While the sitcom, created by Michael Patrick King and Whitney Cummings, could not sustain early meteoric ratings heights, it has been a utility player for CBS.
Its Season 6 Live+7 adults 18-49 average, a 1.8 rating, is just a tad below renewed CBS comedies Mom and Life In Pieces (both at 1.9) and above picked up "Man with a Plan" (1.6) and "Superior Donuts" (1.5). It also is CBS’ youngest-skewing comedy.
But CBS has no ownership in "2 Broke Girls" while having to cover its cost (or most of it) because of the show’s age. Meanwhile, "2 Broke Girls" was a key asset for Warner Bros TV, holding the record for the biggest off-network comedy series sale, earning WBTV $1.7 million an episode from TBS alone.

Was 2 Broke Girls the filthiest show to ever air on network TV (https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/arts-and-entertainment/wp/2017/05/17/a-farewell-to-2-broke-girls-the-filthiest-show-on-network-television/?utm_term=.4a150c6c1a98)
James28 05-18-2017, 11:39 PM If there was a real possibility that 2 Broke Girls was going to be cancelled by CBS, then Warner Bros. TV should have thought about starting discussions with TBS to continue its original run, even though 2BG already has enough episodes for a good-sized syndication package (138). Upon its airing last month, 2BG's showrunner stated that its sixth season finale was not produced as a series finale. So I do not agree with Kelly Kahl's statement that "it was time" to end 2BG's original run completely. This reminds me of when CBS cancelled The Jeffersons 30+ years ago.
Mace Dolex 05-19-2017, 04:19 PM So the show aired on CBS but wasn't owned by them, how does that work? has something like this happened in the past with other shows? and why keep it on the air for 6 years?
liane60 06-07-2017, 12:14 PM God I'm so happy it's over. It was so stupid especially with the character Max.
James28 06-14-2017, 08:25 AM I think a reason that Warner Bros. TV decided not to shop 2 Broke Girls around to other outlets following its abrupt cancellation by CBS is because of the amount of people who hated the show. I think such people wanted the viewers of 2BG to be left hanging after the 6th-season finale.
To the people who hate 2 Broke Girls: Do you think Superior Donuts will be any better than 2BG?
Also, how well is 2 Broke Girls doing in syndication (TBS or broadcast)?
Chocolate Moose 06-14-2017, 10:18 AM I don't think the show is timeless. It was cute while it lasted but I don't think people will watch it for years to come.
Superior Donuts isn't great ... it's got a lot of talented people involved in it, for it to be so mediocre.
Svenfan1234 06-14-2017, 10:23 AM I don't think the show is timeless. It was cute while it lasted but I don't think people will watch it for years to come.
Superior Donuts isn't great ... it's got a lot of talented people involved in it, for it to be so mediocre.
It was time for "2BG" to end. It will always be around in syndication. Now if "Big Bang" would end. That show is horrible and atrocious
tvfreak1987 06-14-2017, 04:18 PM So the show aired on CBS but wasn't owned by them, how does that work? has something like this happened in the past with other shows? and why keep it on the air for 6 years?
Many, many shows that aired on the major networks over the years weren't owned by that network.
James28 07-06-2017, 09:13 PM Yesterday, Warner Bros. Home Video announced (http://tvshowsondvd.com/n/23434) via press release a "Complete Series" DVD set for 2 Broke Girls, to be released on October 3, 2017, along with the sitcom's sixth season. This must mean that there is truly no way for 2 Broke Girls to get out of staying cancelled, so there will be no seventh season of 2 Broke Girls on TBS, as much as I would have been happy to see it. That would have been the only way that I can forgive CBS for cancelling 2 Broke Girls. I am now mad at Warner Bros. TV for not taking 2 Broke Girls to its sibling network TBS. I think Warner Bros. must have thought "And 2 Broke Girls: The Movie" would be a satisfying-enough conclusion for the whole series. All hope is really lost now. :crying:
God I'm so happy it's over. It was so stupid especially with the character Max.
The problem with 2 Broke Girls was that it followed a very strict formula in that virtually every second line was a punchline. To put things in another way, rarely did anyone respond to a question/comment with anything besides a dumb joke. In effect, 2 Broke Girls all too often, tried to hard to go for the big joke instead of mixing in real conversations mixed in with smaller jokes. You can be dirty/raunchy and juvenile with your humor, but there needs to be more beyond redundant, formulaic and tiring way that you deliver the message.
