I guess what I mean is that something that the entire episode was centered around, not just something that happens during the episode.

On 3rd Rock from the Sun when Dick and Harry fell down a hole. Alan Cummings was the guest star and played 'The Hole' an expert at getting people out of holes.

"The Contest" episode of Seinfeld. If you don't know its plot look it up. A warning it has an adult theme.

How about Green Acres, with Arnold the Pig and Cynthia the Basset Hound as star-crossed lovers?
Basically EVERY episode of "Green Acres" fits this topic but that's what makes it a true comedy classic.

Agreed! I was going to make a list of the more absurd premises but I realized that's basically all the episodes. And the really crazy thing is that they worked and were actually funny. Green Acres is truly a one of a kind sitcom.

Any episode where someone wins the lottery. So unlikely yet funny.

I'd say Mama's Family where Iola has her beloved kitty freeze-dried "like those little coffee crystals", and then Vint accidentally "kills" it.
