OK Guys, this is my first fanfic and i have absolutely no idea where it is going, so go easy on me! lol

As Jinny was lying in her bed one night, she started thinking about her life. She knew that her life had turned around, but she wasn’t sure that she liked it this way. If not for the intervention, she would have been in a bar that night, or depending on how fast she moved, she could already be at some random guy’s house. No matter what she told herself, she couldn’t stop the longing for the alcohol that had consumed her life for so long. She wanted to drink so badly, but she didn’t, out of loyalty to her job and her best friend. She also thought of how much she missed Teddy now that he was gone. She could not stop thinking about how much she had messed things up this time. Finally, thinking about Teddy, Jinny fell asleep.

*Jinny’s alarm clock is going off at 7:00 AM*

Jinny got lazily out of bed and pushed the snooze button. ‘One more minute cant hurt’ she thought to herself as she fell back into her bed.

An hour later, Jinny awoke at the sound of the phone ringing. “God, who is it?” she thought out loud. “I’m coming, I’m coming!” she yelled towards the phone. She grabbed her black robe and put it on over her sweats that she had slept in. On her way to the door, she passed a mirror and glanced in, groaning. ‘Lovely, Jin’ she said aloud. Having not showered since the morning before and sleeping with her hair up in a ponytail, she was looking not-so-lovely when she answered the phone

“Hello?” Jinny managed to mutter, her voice still sounding sleepy.
“Jin! Hey, good morning! Did I wake you?” The voice on the other end asked. Then, Jinny knew who it was.
“Teddy! Hi! Yeah, you woke me up, but that’s ok. Actually, thanks, because I would have been late for work.” Jinny said, suddenly aware of the awkwardness of the whole situation. Why had Teddy just all of a sudden called her apartment at 8:00 in the morning?
“Well, I was thinking about you last night and decided that I really wanted to talk things out with you. Could you meet me later?” Teddy asked into the phone.
“Umm…sure, I’ll have to call you later and get a time set up. I’ve been busy lately.” Jinny told him. She still couldn’t believe that he had been thinking of her the night before.
“Yeah, sure, I understand. Jinny, I really miss you. I know that I told you before that I didn’t want to even be friends, I do. But I want to be more than friends.”
“Teddy, I miss you too, but we’ll talk about this later. I have to get ready for work. Talk to you later! Bye!” Jinny said.
“Bye, Jinny.”

Here's a little bit more, cuz i'm really bored!

Jinny hurried and took her shower and dried her hair. Wrapped in a towel, she was picking out her outfit for the day. ‘What should I wear? I want Teddy to think of me as more than a friend still…Jin, snap out of it! Your life does not revolve around this guy!’ She finally decided on black pants and a white *gasp* top to go with it. After putting on the pants and shirt, she headed for the door, on the way grabbing her leather jacket and boots. Just as she was about to leave, the phone rang. ‘This better be important. I’m going to be late!’ she thought. “Hello?” she snapped into the phone. It was already 9:00 and she still had to pick Magda up. On top of that, the Cap was going to be on her butt again. “Jinny, it’s me again.” Teddy said.
“Hey. You know what? I’m sorry, but I’ve really got to go to work.”
“Yeah, I know. But let’s just meet at my apartment at 7, ok? I won’t be in my office today, so I hoped that I would catch you before you left.”
“You’re lucky. I was just opening the door, almost out already.”
“OK, well…have a good day! See you tonight! Love you!”
“You have a good day too! Bye!” Jinny said, and hung up the phone.

Here's some more!

In the elevator, heading downstairs, she started replaying their conversation in her mind. By the time she reached her car, she had realized that Teddy had said a quick ‘Love you’ at the end of their conversation. ‘Oh my goodness, I know that he didn’t say it. He couldn’t have!’ she thought. But she knew that he did. In a way, it made her feel special, that he cared about her enough to say it, but then again, it made her feel that things were already going too fast.

*Back at Teddy’s office*

Teddy stood holding the phone, staring at it in shock. He wasn’t shocked by what he had heard; he was shocked by what he had said. How could he have been so careless and let it slip like that? He had wanted to say it to her forever, and now that he did, he felt a huge weight lifted off his shoulders. He just wished that 7:00 would come faster.

*Jinny’s Car*

While driving to Mag’s house, Jinny thought of all the times that Teddy had been there for her. She was pretty sure that she loved him, but she couldn’t be sure, not yet. Just as she pulled into Mag’s driveway, a thought occurred to her. Should she tell Magda about her and Teddy? Again, she had split opinions. On one hand, Magda’s her best friend, but on the other, Magda would make a huge deal out of this. She might never live this down. She knew that her friend was just encouraging her, but she really didn’t want her to anymore.

Jinny stepped out of her car and walked up the driveway. She could see Ben in the window, playing his Gameboy, and could hear Mag pleading with him to get ready. Since there was no school that day, he was spending the day with his grandma, but he still had to get dressed. Jinny walked in without knocking. “Hey Ben! Mag! I’m here!” she yelled. She went over to Bed and ruffled his hair. Whenever she was with Ben, her maternal instincts started to show and she wanted a child, but she knew how much work they were. “Ben, why don’t we surprise your mom and go get dressed?” She asked, trying to make it so that Ben would get off the couch and get dressed. “OK, Jinny, but I don’t want to go to Grandma’s house today. Can I go to your house? Please?” Ben gave his best puppy dog look. “Ben, your mom and I have a lot of work to do today. Besides, my house isn’t fun at all! You just get to play your Gameboy there!” Jinny exclaimed. Ben got off the couch. “Alright, fine, I’ll get dressed, but will you come and get me at Grandma’s tonight?” Ben pleaded. “Sure, hon. You can come to my apartment for a little while.” She helped Ben pick out his clothes and left the room while he got dressed, because he “needed his privacy.”

Jinny heard Mag singing in her bedroom. Ever since she and Gabe had gotten back together, Mag was always in a good mood. “Mag! Are you ready yet? I got Ben to get dressed for ya!” Jinny called. “Yeah, I’m coming now.” Mag stepped out of her room in black pants and a red shirt.
“Hey, Jin, color looks good on you!” She said, teasing Jinny about her choice to wear a white shirt instead of black.
“Shut up. You should be grateful that I got your son ready in time. Now come on. We got to go!”
Ben walked out of his room, dressed and ready to go, still playing his Gameboy. “Ben, do you play that thing when you’re sleeping, too?” Jinny asked, smiling.
“No, Mom makes me put it away at 8. I don’t know why.” Ben complained.
“Come on, Papi, we’ve got to get out of here. Grandma’s probably worrying about you.” Magda said to her son.

As Jinny was driving Magda and herself to work after they had dropped Ben off, she noticed that the ring was off of Mag’s finger. There were just a couple of weeks before the wedding, and Jinny didn’t know if they had called it off. She didn’t know whether or not to say anything, so she stayed silent, but soon, she couldn’t bear it.
“OK, Mag. Where’s the ring?” She asked. She knew that Magda would have wanted Jin to ask her anyways.
“Well…you see…my fingers are getting kind of swollen.” Mag said, with a sheepish smile on her face.
“OK, would you like to clarify?” Jinny asked.
“Jinny, I’m pregnant.”

”Magda! I’m so happy for you! You never told me! How far along are you?” Jinny asked.
Magda was clearly not as happy as Jinny would have expected.
“I don’t know. I haven’t been to the doctor yet, so it’s not for sure yet, but I’m pretty sure. You know my instincts.” Magda said.
“Yeah, I know your instincts! They are never wrong, huh? What about the time…” Jinny said, laughing.
“Oh, you shut up! My instincts are never wrong!” Magda laughed, hitting Jinny playfully on the arm. But Magda got solemn suddenly.
“Mag, what’s up?” Jinny asked, sincerely.
“I’m just afraid that Gabe will run out on me again. He did the first time. You never know. I’m just really afraid that I’m going to be left to take care of a new baby and Ben, alone.” Mag said, on the verge of tears. They pulled into the parking lot of the division.
“Hey, you wouldn’t be alone. I would be there for you, you know that!” Jinny said, giving Magda a hug.
“Thanks, Jinny. OK let’s go in.”

In all of the excitement of the morning, Jinny had completely forgotten about her meeting with Teddy at his apartment that night. It was noon before she remembered again. She and Mag were going to eat at Anchorside, so she figured that this would be a good time to tell Mag.
“Jin, you ready to go yet?” Mag asked.
“Yeah, just let me finish this last form. *writes something* OK, I’m ready.”
They walked to the restaurant, and got a booth. The waiter came to the table.
“Can I take your order?” the waiter asked.
“Yeah, I’ll take the burger and French fries and a Diet Coke.” Jinny told the waiter.
“I’ll have the garden salad and an iced tea. Thanks.” Magda said.
Time passes in silence as they both sit, lost in thought. Finally, Jinny speaks up.
“Magda, Teddy called me this morning.” Jinny blurted out.
“You’re kidding! What did he want?”
“He said that he wants to talk about us because he misses me and I’m going over to his apartment tonight and we’re going to talk. I think that he wants to get back together with me.”
“Jinny, this is amazing! You guys will end up together. It’s one of my instincts, they’re never wrong, you know!” Magda said, teasing Jinny.
“You keep telling yourself that, Mag.” Jinny said back, but deep down, she hoped that Mag was right.
The waiter approached their table and set their food and drinks down. “There you go. I’ll be back with the check.” He said and walked away. Magda looked over at Jinny, who was staring after the waiter, looking at his butt.
“Jinny, you with me here?” she said laughing.
“What? Oh, yeah. Sorry about that!” Jinny said, smiling. She liked Teddy and all, but this guy had a nice butt.
“As I was saying, you and Teddy will end up together. You know that!” Magda said.
“Yeah, I can only hope!” Jinny said, smiling, but Magda could see that this was really getting to her.

Jinny and Magda were back at the division, working on their case. It was about 4:30, and Jinny was starting to get nervous. She couldn’t stop thinking about him, no matter what she tried. She wondered what he was going to say and if they were going to end up together. She wanted to, because she was in love with him, but she knew that she had messed things up pretty bad last time. She was so sorry for that night, but she was never really good at apologies. Every time that she tried, the words got stuck in her mouth.
“Jinny! Come on! I want to go home and we’ve got to get this done!” Magda said, exhausted from a day, with Jinny gazing out the window and paperwork to finish from their last case. They had arrested a man the week before on some assault charges, and there was now a lot of paperwork.
“Mag, I promised Ben that he could come over to my apartment tonight. Do you think that he’d hold it against me if I changed my mind?” Jinny asked.
“Well…I don’t really know about Benjamin these days. He blows up over the littlest things! But I can make up some excuse for you.”
“Thank you, Mag. You’ve seen me today. I don’t really think that I could handle having to watch a kid and get ready to go over to Teddy’s at the same time.” Jinny said.
“Oh, I almost forgot about that!” Magda exclaimed. She had been pretty lost in thought herself for most of the day, thinking about her baby and her soon-to-be husband. “Are you nervous?”
“No, Mag. I’m perfectly fine!” Jinny said, sarcastically. “What do you think?”
“Hey, Jin, don’t bite my head off! I was just wondering.”
”Yeah, well…” Jinny trailed off. She was normally in a pretty good mood. What had happened? Maybe this is my reaction to nervousness, she thought.

OK here's some more I'm sorry that i wont be able to post much this week. I have tryouts for dance team at 6:15 every morning. :o <---that's a yawn lol

Later that night, at about 5:45, Jinny was at her apartment, wearing her bathrobe, looking for something to wear. The minute that she would pull something out of the closet and hold it up to herself, she would discard it on the bed. ‘God I don’t have anything to wear!’ she thought. ‘Besides what do I wear to his apartment?’

Finally, at about 6:45, she was in her car and on her way to Teddy’s. She had decided on a pair of jeans and a red shirt. She had decided that if it was really important that she look good, Teddy would have said something. At about 5 minutes until 7:00, Jinny pushed the “up” button by the elevator. She knew this place by heart, but she hadn’t been here in what seemed like forever. When she arrived at Teddy’s floor, butterflies were racing in her stomach. When she got to his apartment, though, they had subsided. As she knocked, she could hear classical music playing behind the closed door. ‘Teddy is so weird!’ she thought, chuckling silently. She knocked softly and heard him say, “Hold on!” She opened the door anyway. She saw him scrambling to clean his living room, which wasn’t messy at all.
“Teddy, its fine. It’s just me. I’ve seen much worse!” she said, laughing very hard.
“Jinny! You weren’t supposed to come in!” Teddy said, obviously very worried about what Jinny thought of him.
“Well, I’m inside now. There’s nothing wrong with your living room!” she said, trying to make the mood lighter. It wasn’t working.
“Jinny, sit down, because there are some things that I have to say to you before I lose the nerve to say them.” Teddy said.
“OK, where? Is here ok?” she said, pointing to the couch.
“Yeah, sure.” He waited until she had sat down to continue. “I have loved you since the first day that I saw you. I have always loved you and you know that. I just want to know where I went wrong.” Teddy said, with all the sincerity he could.
“Teddy, you never did anything wrong. It’s just that I’m not used to being loved. I’ve always just had guys, never loved them, you know? Your love scared me to death. I don’t know why. It’s just that I felt that I had this great big weight on my shoulders, like I had to live up to your expectations of me. I know this sounds stupid now, but I…love you too.” She said, the last three words very rushed.

“Yeah, Teddy, I do want to be with you.” Jinny said, and with that she kissed him. It was a short kiss, and they were both very surprised by it. Jinny went back in for another and Teddy did too. Jinny put her hands on Teddy’s face and Teddy caressed the back of her neck with his hand. They broke the kiss, and Jinny looked into Teddy’s eyes.
“So, does this mean that we’re ‘going out’” she asked, smiling.
“I guess so! Hold on.” Teddy gets down on one knee, and Jinny’s stomach did flip-flops. Teddy dug around in his pocket while Jinny was thinking ‘Oh God, he’s really going to do this!’ Finally, Teddy found what he was looking for. He pulled out a ring box and said, “Jinny, I know that we’ve been together a whole 2 minutes now, but will you marry me? I can’t live without you anymore.”
“Teddy…wow. I really wasn’t expecting this. Of course I’ll marry you!” Jinny said as they interlocked fingers and kissed again. When they stopped, Teddy opened the box and took the ring out and slipped it on Jinny’s finger. It was a small gold band with 1 large circle shaped diamond in the center and two small diamonds around it.
“Oh, God it is beautiful Teddy! I love it!” Jinny exclaimed, still admiring the ring. “But how did you know that I still loved you?”
“A little bird told me?” Teddy guessed.
“Would the little bird be named Magda?” Jinny asked, with a burst of laughter.
“How’d you know? She told me about a week ago that you had been talking about me at work, just really casually, and that you got ‘the look’ in your eyes. Magda cracks me up.” Teddy said.
“I don’t remember talking about you…oh, yes I do! I didn’t think that she was even listening or looking at my eyes.” Jinny laughed harder. She vowed, silently, to get Magda back for this. The day that Jinny had been talking about Teddy, they were working on a case that Teddy was working on, too. Jinny said that she didn’t really want to see Teddy right now, and Magda had asked if there were any hard feelings and Jinny had answered honestly that she didn’t know. Then she kind of spaced off for awhile, thinking about him, again. That must have been when she’d gotten ‘the look’ that Mag had been talking about.
“I can’t believe this. Just last night, I thought that you were going to hate me forever.” Jinny said, still in awe. She was resting her head on Teddy’s shoulder and still looking at her new ring.
“I’ve always loved you, Jin. I always will too.” With that, he leaned down and kissed her. This kiss lasted a lot longer. When they finally broke off, Teddy stood up. “Jin, do you just want to stay here tonight?” he asked.
“Oh, act all innocent now, Theodore. I know you. It’s a farce!” she laughed. Her happy mood was back, she hoped for good. If things kept going at this rate, she’d be in a good mood for the rest of her life. Teddy went over and wrestled her to the floor. “How would you know, Jinny? You wouldn’t! Ow!” he yelped as she flipped him over.
“Ha, Teddy, you’ve really got to work on that!” she laughed and ran to the bedroom before he had a chance to catch his breath. He got to his feet and ran after her.

The next morning, they lay next to each other, the rain beating at the window. Jinny’s head was resting comfortably on Teddy’s chest. They were both exhausted, and they still had to go to work. Jinny contemplated whether or not to actually go that day while Teddy was still sleeping. She decided that she should go in, or everyone would start to get suspicious of her drinking again. She got out of the bed slowly and walked around to the other side, in an oversized T-shirt. She leaned over and kissed Teddy, who woke up.
“Hey, where are you going, sweetie?” he asked, his voice still groggy from sleep.
“Well, good morning to you too! I decided that work would be a good thing today. Do you want breakfast?” she asked him.
“No, that’s ok. I usually just grab something on the way to work.” He glanced over at the clock on his bedside table. It was only 7:00. “Jinny, why the heck do you wake up so early?”
“Theodore, this is hardly early!” she exclaimed. “I was going to run, but it’s raining pretty hard out there. Maybe I should run home and get some clothes. Yeah, I think I’ll do that.” She said, more talking to herself than to Teddy. “Do you remember where I parked?” she asked him, as if he had been there when she parked.
“Nope, I wasn’t with ya! It’s probably…somewhere in the parking lot?” he guessed, laughing at his own joke.
“Ha ha Teddy, very funny.” Jinny said, sarcastically.
“Come here, Jinny.” He patted the bed next to him. “I’ve missed you so much.” He wrapped his arms around her and she leaned her head on his shoulder.
“I’ve missed you too, Teddy.” She craned her neck to kiss him, but it was so uncomfortable that she broke the embrace and turned to face him with her whole body. She had her legs on either side of him, and was bending her upper body to kiss him. It soon progressed to more. (I’m not going to describe it because my name’s not Miranda.)
When they were done, Jinny turned over and looked at the clock. It was only 7:45 and she had to pick up Magda at 8:30. “Teddy, I’m going to go take a shower, OK?” she asked. “Care to join me?” She asked, as she gave him her best seductive stare.
Teddy, who was still out of breath, nodded. “That’s a great idea, Jin. We could be saving on water and enjoying ourselves. You’re so smart!” he got out of bed and joined Jinny in the bathroom.

At 8:10, Jinny had gotten out of the shower and was dressed in the same clothes from the night before. She figured that she had only worn them for a little while anyways, so no one should know. She and Teddy were ready to go at 8:15 and they left the apartment. Teddy locked the door behind them, and they walked to the elevator, hand in hand.
When they got to Jinny’s car, Teddy leaned down for a kiss. Jinny brought her hands up to Teddy’s face and the kiss lasted for a lot longer than it had been intended for. When they finally broke it up, Jinny said, “Well…bye!”
“Bye Jinny, I love you! Have a good day.” Teddy said to her.
Jinny opened her car door. “Are we going to tell anyone about us?” she asked.
“Why not? Are you changing your mind?” he asked, suddenly worried. Jinny closed her car door, started the car and rolled down the window.
“Of course not! I was just wondering if you wanted everyone to know or not.” She said.
“Yeah, we can tell people, but I really got to go now, so bye!” he leaned in for a quick kiss and jogged off for his car.

I resent that insinuation. LOL I don't describe it... I've read a lot worse- thank you very much. haha.... I write my fan fictions very nicely. At least I like them, I don't write too much more than they show on TV anyway. lol.....I still resent that though! Although I died laughing when I read that. hahaha...... Hmm, so Mag maybe pregnant- do I see a baby in Jinny's future too? Interesting concept............... I have no life- don't mind me! lol I look WAAAAYY too far into things.

At least I like them, I don't write too much more than they show on TV anyway. lol.....I still resent that though! Although I died laughing when I read that. hahaha...... Jinny drove the whole way to Magda’s house thinking about Teddy, and at every stop sign, she stared at the ring on her left hand. She couldn’t believe this was happening to her. Just the other night, she had been thinking about how awful her life was, and now she was happy and excited about her future. She couldn’t wait to tell Magda about the night before. Not all the details, of course, but before they had gone to bed.

Jinny pulled into Mag’s driveway and stepped out of the car. Ben had stayed the night with his father, so Mag hadn’t had to fight with him that morning. She came out before Jinny had even begun to climb the steps. “Hey Jin. What’s up?” Magda asked her friend.
“Nothing. How are you?” Jinny asked politely. She knew that Mag was dying to know details from the previous night.
“Good, I actually got to get up early and out without any fighting today!” Magda said, laughing.
“Oh, you know you miss him!” Jinny said.
“Yeah, but it’s nice to get away for awhile, you know?” Magda asked. She had had time to think the night before when she was alone. She was tired of thinking about the baby inside of her, if there even was one. “So…how was last night?”
“Fine. You’ll never guess what happened though.” Jinny said. She loved making Magda wait in suspense. She had cleverly hidden her left hand behind her back.
“What? Jinny, you cannot even do this to me!” Magda cried out.
“OK, this.” She whipped her hand out from behind her back and flashed it in front of Mag’s face.
“Oh my God! I didn’t think he’d actually do it!” Magda exclaimed.
“What? You knew about this?” Jinny asked, surprised.
“Well, we talked about it, because he said that he still loved you and I told him that you liked him too.”
“How’d you know?” Jinny asked.
“You always get that look when we talk about him or when he walks in the room. I could just tell! So, any dates set yet?”
“Nope, not yet.”
By this time, they had reached the station and were heading for the door. When they got to their floor, Jinny opened the door to the division. Inside, there were flowers and a teddy bear on her desk. She walked over to where they were and inspected them, definitely Teddy’s doing.
“Magda, come look at these!” She called out in Mag’s direction.
“How the heck did he get these here that fast?” Magda asked.
“I have no clue. He’s so sweet, though.” She said, gazing lovingly at the flowers.
“Jin, you’re getting the look!” Magda exclaimed. She loved when Jinny was with Teddy, because it meant that Jinny was in a constant good mood.
“Oh, shut up Mag!” Jinny said. She realized that the usual buzz of the division had hushed and everyone was looking at her, and her new flowers.

Well, I didn't think it would be copying. Afterall, it's not my storyline. It's only copying if people use the same names and write it exactly like mine. Otherwise- I have no problem with it. Captain Kate McCafferty also heard the news that day. She was in her office and she stepped out to see if Jinny and Magda were there yet, so she could start reading their assignments to them. She caught the end of the conversation, and wondered if maybe Gabe had sent Mag the flowers and the delivery people put them on the wrong desk. Then, she saw the diamond ring on Jinny’s finger, glistening in the sun from the nearby window. She put two and two together, but she still wondered who sent the flowers. She knew it was none of her business, but she still had to wonder.
“Magda, could you come to my office.” She asked, not in a question, more of a command.
“Yeah, sure.” Magda said, getting up from her desk, giving Jinny a look.
“Oooh” Jinny mouthed. Magda mouthed back to shut up.
“Magda, about your doctor’s appointment that you asked for time off for today. Is it something serious?” the Cap asked.
“Oh, no. I don’t think so anyways. I just…well, I may as well tell you. I think that I might be pregnant and I’m going to make sure.” She said.
“Oh, ok. I see.” Kate said, kind of in shock at Magda’s forwardness about the situation. “Anything else you want to tell me?” she asked, jokingly.
“Just that Jinny and Teddy are getting married.”

Mag walked out of Kate’s office with a sheepish look on her face. She knew that Jinny wouldn’t have wanted the Captain to know, but now she did. Oh well. I just won’t tell her, Mag thought to herself. Yeah, right Mag, you tell her everything.
“What did she want, Mag?” Jinny asked. “I didn’t hear any yelling.”
“Nope, she just wanted to know what the doctor’s appointment was for today. I also kind of told her that you and Teddy are getting married.” Mag said the last sentence very quietly.
“What?” Jinny asked, unsure if she had heard correctly.
“I told her that you and Teddy were going to get married.” Magda said, this time a little louder.
“Really? How did this come up?”
“I don’t know. It slipped. She asked if there was anything else that I wanted to tell her, and I said that you and Teddy were going to get married. She didn’t act surprised or anything.” Mag rambled.
Jinny smiled. “Mag, I don’t care. She would have found out sooner or later.”
“Oh, so you aren’t mad?” Mag asked Jinny, surprised.
“Nope, not at all.” Jinny replied. She loved making Mag guess. It was so much fun. “What time is the doctor’s appointment?”
“It’s at 11:30. Why, do you want to come?” Magda asked, jokingly.
“Oh, you know it!” Jinny said sarcastically. “I’ll leave you to the fun doctor’s appointments!”
“Thanks, Jin. I appreciate it.” Mag replied.

As 11:30 approached, Magda began to worry. ‘Maybe I’m not even pregnant. Then what? I’ve already told people that I am. Then I’ll have to tell them that I’m not. And what about Gabe? You’ve got to tell him!’ she thought to herself. Both she and Jinny had again been lost in thought that day, Jinny thinking about her newfound relationship with Teddy, and Magda, evidently, about her baby and Gabe and Ben. At 11:00, she glanced at the clock, yet again, shot up from her seat at her desk. She grabbed her purse and jacket.
“Bye, Jin. I’m leaving.”
“Bye. Hey, good luck!” Jinny told her best friend.

As Magda climbed in her car, Jinny was getting ready to leave for an early lunch. She figured that she wouldn’t get much work done with Magda gone anyways, so she had called Theodore and asked if he could meet her somewhere. He had said that he’d needed to finish some paperwork, but he’d meet her at the Anchorside in about 20 minutes. After they hung up, Jinny realized her mistake. How could he have forgotten? She was newly sober. “This is going to be a challenge.” She muttered to herself.

At the doctor’s office, Magda signed herself in and took a seat next to an expectant mother. “How far along are you?” she asked, a smile on her face.
“About eight and a half months. When are you due?” The woman asked.
“To tell you the truth, I don’t really even know if I’m pregnant for sure! That’s what I’m here for.” She knew she was rambling, but she was nervous, and wanted to hurry and get this over with. The woman turned her attention back to the magazine that she was reading, so Magda got out of her seat and went over to the magazine rack. She picked an issue of People and settled herself in for the wait that was inevitable.

As Jinny walked into the bar, her mind was filled with memories of the past. She had a smile on her face as she remembered the time that she and Teddy had danced on their first date, and had been the only one’s to do so. But her expression quickly changed when she remembered the last time she and Teddy had been in this bar together. It had been the day that Teddy called off the trip to Napa. She had assumed that he was blowing her off, so she’d grabbed the first guy that she had seen, and started making out with him. She stopped there, because she saw Teddy waving at her from a booth in the back.
“Hey Jin, what’s up?” He asked.
“Nothing, just remembering, that’s all.” She replied.
“Do you want something to drink?” Teddy asked. “Water, Coke…”
“Water’s fine, thanks.” She replied. She wasn’t sure that he knew that she had quit drinking before, but when he offered her water and coke, she knew that he knew.
They spent the rest of the lunch date talking about their future. She had never realized how much she loved him until that moment. Teddy felt the same way, but he actually said something about it.
“Jinny, I’ve missed you so much. I know that I’ve only told you that about a million times, but I did. I’m so glad we’re back together.” He said to her and leaned across the table for a kiss.
“Teddy, I’ve missed you too.” She said, after the kiss had been broken off. “I love you and I can’t wait to get married.” Even she was shocked at the words that had just come out of her mouth.
“I’m happy, because I love you too. Let’s move in together.”

He sprung the question as a statement. This was a big thing for her, but she knew that she was ready for it.
“OK, let’s do it.” Jinny said, grinning sheepishly.
“So…where are we going to live?” Teddy asked. He knew that her apartment was the most convenient for the two of them to live in, but he wanted Jinny’s opinion.
“Well, would my apartment be ok?” Jinny suggested. She really liked the new place that she was living in. It had a pool, which was something that Jinny had looked for when she was looking for an apartment. She had really started to enjoy swimming. It was something new, which she needed. After rehab, she had lived with her dad for about six or seven months, then started to get restless. She wanted her own place, and she trusted herself enough now to stay away from the alcohol. Of course she was tempted at times, but she knew in her heart that she wasn’t going to go back to her old ways.
“Yeah, I think that’s a great idea. I was hoping that you’d suggest it.” Teddy said. He hadn’t been to the new apartment yet, but Jinny had described it to him. It sounded perfect for the two of them. She had picked an apartment that was in her budget, but was still cool. She wanted a huge bedroom, so she’d gotten a very cheap two-bedroom apartment. She figured that all of her things wouldn’t fit into a cheap one-bedroom, so she got a cheap two.
“I love you so much Jin, but I really have to get back to the office. I just had time for a short lunch anyway, and they are taking forever, so I’ll see you later.” He stood up and leaned down for a kiss. “I love you.”
“I love you too.” She said, and kissed him back.

Back at the division, CD and Nate were just getting back from questioning a couple of kids involved in some robbery turned murder. CD always hated those cases. Not so much the fact that it was kids that were involved, but it was the parents that got to her. She didn’t think that people who didn’t know where their kids were, at all times, were fit to be parents. CD and Nate had questioned the kids first, who were your everyday, normal teenagers. After questioning the kids, they went to the kids’ houses to question the parents about the whereabouts of their children. They had had no idea where there children were the night because they were too busy having a party where the rich people in the neighborhood came over and ate and drank. She couldn’t help but feel sorry for the kids who had done this. Even though they were going to have to face up to the consequences, she felt that it wasn’t really their faults. If their parents had taken better care of them…but that was a problem that she had with her job. All of the ‘what ifs’ and ‘if onlys.’ She had always had trouble with that part. But Nate didn’t seem to be affected in the same way by this case. Of course it made Nate mad, but it was all part of his job. CD chalked it up to his being a guy.
“CD, what’s wrong?” Nate asked as he was driving towards the division.
“Nothing,” was CD’s response.
“Don’t lie to me, CD! I can tell. You’re all moody and depressed. What’s wrong?”
“Nothing,” she said again. “OK, you can’t tell me that that didn’t piss you off back there.”
“What pissed you off?” he asked, completely oblivious to the fact that CD had been deeply effected by this case.
“The way that those parents didn’t even know where their kids were that night they had that party. They were too busy getting drunk or high with their snobby friends that they didn’t know. In my opinion, those kinds of people are not fit to be parents.” CD said.
“I understand how you feel, but you can’t do anything about it, so don’t think about it so much.”
“I don’t know why I let it get to me like I do.” CD said, lost in thought.
“It’s because you’re a woman. See, men don’t let things like this get to them. We just ignore the children and let the women take care of them.”
”Oh, shut up, Nate.” She cried, grinning at him.

OK here's some more. I realize that a lot of this stuff is wrong, like Magda's whole doctor scene. I've never been pregnant, so i don't know the procedure. lol :D

As Jinny was heading back up for the division, Magda was getting impatient at the doctor’s office. She had been waiting for a half an hour when the nurse finally stepped out the door and called, “Magda Ramirez.” She got up, set down the issue of People and walked with the nurse down a hall. She was shown to a room and her blood pressure was taken and was basically given a small check up.
“OK, Ms. Ramirez, the doctor will be with you shortly. Just take off your clothes and put these on.” The nurse said when the check up was done, handing her a paper gown.
“Thanks.” Magda said. As soon as the nurse had closed the door, she began getting undressed and put the gown on. She hated the feeling the gowns gave her. She couldn’t move without the paper crackling, and she felt naked. Twenty minutes later, the doctor came in.

“Hello, Magda. How are you today?” Doctor Moore asked.
“Good, you?” Magda asked back, to be polite.
“Fine. So, I hear that you are pregnant again.” Doctor Moore had been her doctor when she was pregnant with Ben.
“Actually, that’s what I’m here for. I don’t really know, and I wanted to be sure, you know?” Magda said, suddenly nervous.
“Yes, I understand. Well then, we’ll get started.” The doctor said.
The doctor took a sample of Magda’s blood and told her to lie out on the examination table.
“I’m just going to feel around your stomach, because sometimes I can tell that way.”
While the doctor was feeling Magda’s stomach, Magda was thinking about the baby inside of her. Could she really give this baby what it needed? She thought that she could, until she thought of how hard it had been with Ben, and she had been younger and in better shape then. How could she take care of an infant and an 8-year-old?
“OK, Magda. All done. I’ll go get the test results while you get dressed, OK?” the doctor informed her.
“OK, thanks.”

Jinny walks into the division, seeing that Magda isn’t back yet. After her lunch with Teddy, she drove around for awhile. She had to think about what had just happened at lunch that day. While driving around San Francisco, she knew she was heading for the bridge before she realized it. That’s where she always went to think, near the water by the Golden Gate Bridge. While sitting on the ground next to the shore, she realized that she really wanted to do this, the whole moving in with Teddy. She had had some doubts when she had left the restaurant, but now she was positive.

“Magda, I have some good news for you. You’re approximately five weeks pregnant.” Doctor Moore said to her patient.
“Thanks, Doctor.” Magda said. She was slightly in shock. She had known that this was a possibility, but it never registered until that moment. She was carrying a baby inside of her, again.
“What’s wrong? Isn’t that what you wanted?” the doctor asked her.
“I don’t know right now. I’ll really need to get used to this, you know?” Magda said.
“Yes. And remember, if you decide that you don’t want the baby, there’s always abortion or adoption.” The doctor reminded her.
“Thanks, but there’s no way that I could do that to my baby.” Magda said, as she headed towards the door. “I know that I’m going to keep the baby, but I don’t know how long I’ll be able to keep my fiancé, if you know what I mean.” She added.
“Yeah, I understand.” The doctor replied as Magda left the office.

As soon as Magda walked into the division, Jinny jumped out of her seat. She had been wondering whether or not she was pregnant or not. Jinny walked over to Magda, who kept a straight face, staring at Jinny’s anxious one.
“Jin, I’ll talk to you in a minute. I gotta go tell Cap that I’m back.” Magda said to her best friend as she knocked on their Captain’s office door.
“Come in.” came the response from the other side of the door.
“Hey, Cap. I just wanted to let you know that I’m back from my doctor’s appointment.” Magda said, turning to leave.
“Magda, come in here and close the door please.”
Magda turns back around and closes the door behind her, taking a seat in a chair in front of Cap’s desk.
“Yeah?” she asked. She was anxious to get back out there and tell Jinny the news.
“Well? Aren’t you even going to tell me what’s going on?” Cap asked Magda.
“Alright. I am pregnant. About five weeks is what the doctor said.” Magda said.
“So, it’s for sure now?”
“Yup.”
“OK, I was just wondering.” Cap said, looking back down at her work, which Magda took as a sign that she was free to go, so she got up and left.
As she was walking to her desk, Jinny again jumped out of hers.
“So?” she asked.
“Yeah, I am. Five weeks, in fact.” Magda said, completely stone-faced.
“Oh god, Mag. This is great! Well, in a way I guess.” She knew that she was making a complete idiot out of herself, but she didn’t care. “Does Gabe know yet?”
“Nope. I’m going to tell him tonight. This time, he’d better stick around. So, what about your lunch date with Teddy?” She asked. It was just like Magda to think of other people’s problems before her own.
“Well, Teddy asked me to move in with him, and I accepted. We’re going to live at my apartment.” Jinny said.
“Jinny, that really is great! I’m so happy for you! Pretty soon, you’re going to be the one having the babies!” Magda said, embarrassing Jinny.
“Yeah, Mag, I’m sure.” Jinny said sarcastically.

After Magda and Jinny’s conversation was over, Magda sat at her desk. She had to think of a really good way to break this to Gabe. She could do it over paella, like she had made the night that he never showed up. She decided that paella was the thing that she was going to make. Now she had to worry about what to wear. It was already 3:30 and she’d called Gabe to tell him that dinner was set for about 6. She’d also been told by Cap that she was giving Mag the rest of the day off, so she picked up her purse and told Jin goodbye, and that she’d have her cell phone on and not to call unless it was an emergency.

Jinny, since her partner had been given the day off, decided to go home also. Once at her apartment, she called Teddy, whose number was still on her speed redial. She let it ring four times before the answering machine picked up. “Hey, it’s Theodore. You know what to do after the beep!”
Jinny left a message saying that she was home for the night and that she wanted to talk to him. Then she called him at work. She let this one ring twice before he picked up the phone. “Theodore Blumenthal.” He answered.
“Theodore, it’s Jinny. What are you doing?” she asked him.
“Hey, Jinny! I feel like I just saw you not too long ago! What’s up?” he asked her.
“Nothing, Magda got to go home early, and there was nothing to do, so I decided that I wanted to get home early too.”
“Really? So, do you want to help me move in tonight, or should we wait for another time?” Theodore asked. He didn’t want to force her into anything that she wasn’t ready for.
“Tonight’s great. I’ll cook something and we’ll have dinner, then I figured we’d drive to your apartment and pack.” She suggested.
“OK, what do you have in mind for dinner?” Teddy asked. He was excited about moving in with the love of his life and couldn’t wait.
“Probably just spaghetti, unless you have any special requests.” she sort of asked him.
“Nope, anything is just fine. But I really have to go now. I have one more meeting and then I’ll be home. I love you, bye.” He said, and hung up the phone.

Jinny replaced the cordless phone to its cradle on the table in the living room. Her new apartment was much better than her old one. Better surroundings, which Jinny didn’t really care about. Better location, which Jinny loved. Her move had gotten her closer to the Golden Gate Bridge and its surrounding waters. That was where she did her best thinking, and now she could basically walk down there anytime that she wanted. She still loved the pool, and thought about how much time she had before Teddy would be there. She figured a couple of hours, at the least. She had plenty of time for a swim, a shower, and spaghetti.

Magda slipped on a pair of tight jeans and an even tighter shirt. ‘Funny, that shirt didn’t used to be so tight,’ she thought to herself. Then she remembered. ‘I shouldn’t be gaining weight this fast! It’s only the fifth week!’ She realized that if she didn’t tell Gabe about the baby now, he’d find out other ways, for example, when her stomach started to bulge.

Walking out of her bedroom, having changed shirts, Magda walked past her cooking paella. She was nervous as to what the evening held for her, and she really had no idea what to expect from Gabriel. The last time she had gotten pregnant, she had known for sure that Gabe would stay by her side throughout the pregnancy. Of course, this was before she told him. Now, she wasn’t sure if he’d stay, so maybe he would. ‘Stop it, Magda. You’re gonna confuse yourself!’ she scolded herself, out loud, than she laughed at how stupid she sounded. ‘Good thing nobody’s here!’

Jinny walked across the living room to her bedroom, opened the door and walked over to her dresser. ‘This is your last few moments alone in this apartment.’ Jinny realized. ‘Oh well. You’ll like it better here with someone else to be with you all of the time.’ She tried to convince herself, but she wasn’t so sure now. Sure, she loved Teddy, but was she really ready for this kind of commitment? ‘Yeah, Jin, and marriage isn’t a big commitment at all!’ she thought to herself, sarcastically. As she stood in front of her dresser, getting her bathing suit out, she made up her mind about living with Teddy. She was going to go for it.

As Jinny was walking towards the door of her apartment, her towel in hand, the phone rang. ‘Ugh, anything else happens, I won’t have time!’ she thought.
“Hello?” Jinny said into the phone.
“Hey Jin. It’s Teddy. I was wondering if I could delay dinner a few hours. A client just came in. We really have to prepare for court tomorrow. Is that ok?” he asked.
“Sure. What time are you thinking?” she asked, knowing that it would give her more time to swim.
“Probably around 7:30, 8?” he suggested.
“That’s fine. I’m going to go for a swim, so if I’m still swimming when you get here, let yourself in.” Jinny knew that she wasn’t going to be swimming for that long, but she liked letting Teddy know that she had a life other than him.
“OK, well, I have to go. I’ll talk to you when I get there!” Teddy said. “I love you.”
“Love you, too. Bye.” She said, and hung up the phone.

Magda and Gabriel were seated at the dining room table at Magda’s apartment. Magda kept up the conversation, and put off telling Gabe about the baby.
”So, Gabe, how was Benjamin today?” She asked him.
“Oh, you know how he is. We drove past a strip mall and he wanted everything in every store window.” Gabe laughed.
“Yeah, he can be a real handful sometimes.” Magda said, gazing at Gabriel from across the table. She loved to see him laugh.
“So, what’s with the romantic dinner?” Gabe asked.
“Well, I have something I need to tell you, and I’m not exactly sure how you’re going to respond to it.” She came right out with it.
“Mag, you know that you can tell me anything.”
“I know, but this is different. Remember the time that Benjamin stayed over at my mom’s house? When you and I, well, you know?” she asked, trying to make him guess what she had to tell him.
“Yeah, I definitely remember that night.” Gabe said with a sheepish grin on his face.
“Well, that whole week, I didn’t take my birth control pills, and well, now… I’m pregnant.”

Jinny walked into her apartment at 6:30 and changed clothes. After she had started the pasta cooking on the stove, she sat down on the couch, tired. By the time 8:00 rolled around, dinner was ready. At 8:05, Teddy walked in the door, giving Jinny a kiss. When the kiss was over, Jinny asked,
“So…how was your day?”
“Good. OK, not good, but it’s better now that I’m here.” He replied, with his arms around Jinny’s waist.
“Really, that’s good. How come your day was bad?” she asked.
“Because people need to learn how to not be stupid.” He said.
“God, you sound like me!” Jinny exclaimed, kissing him. Her hands moved up to his face and hair as his hands stayed at her waist. As she broke off the kiss, she asked, grinning,
“Want to eat?”
“Sure, what’s for dessert?” he asked, giving her a look.
“Well…eat your supper, and you’ll find out.”

Back at Magda’s apartment, Gabe had just learned the news of Magda’s pregnancy. He was still apparently in shock, when after a few moments of silence, he looked up, grinning. Magda knew everything was going to be ok.
Gabe jumped out of his seat and grabbed Mag by the waist. “I can’t believe it! This is so great Mag!” he danced with her to music that only he could hear inside of his head, and they were both laughing very hard. Finally, they sat back in their seats, breathless.
“So, when are you due?” Gabriel finally spoke, still out of breath.
“January 17th.” She replied.
“Really, you’ve got it pinned down to the date and everything?” he asked.
“No. That’s what the tentative due date is. I hardly expect the baby to be born then, though. Benjamin was two weeks early.”
“OK, so we’re going to have a little baby at our wedding?” Gabe asked, in disbelief.
“No, Gabe. Our wedding is in June, the baby is due in January. We’ve got time.” She laughed.
“Yeah, I just thought that…well…you know. I don’t know this is all so exciting! Mag, I want you to know that this time, I’m staying…all the way. I love you and Ben so much, and the time that I have spent with you guys has been amazing. I really can’t wait for us to be married.” Gabe said.
“I love you, too, Gabe.” Magda replied, with tears in her eyes. She couldn’t have imagined this going any better. She got out of her seat and turned on the c.d. player, which was set to play a slow song.
“Would you like to dance?” she asked him.
“Isn’t that my line?” he asked back, but got up and put his hands on Mag’s waist while her arms were around his neck. Gabe bent down as Magda looked up and they met in a long, passionate kiss. They swayed to the music and continued kissing for awhile, and when the song was over, Mag followed Gabe into their bedroom.

Back at the Division, CD and Nate were just getting ready to leave after finishing the paperwork from the case which they had wrapped up today. They were both tired, and couldn’t wait to get out of the Division, where they had been all day.
“Hey, CD, can I see you for a minute?” Captain Kate McCafferty asked from the doorway of her office.
“Sure, Cap. Be there in a minute.” CD said, following the Cap to her office.
“CD, I’ll wait for you, ok?” Nate said.
“OK, you do that Nate.” She said, grinning. She was beginning to like him as more than a partner, but she had rules about dating partners. “What do you need, Cap?”
“Take a seat, CD. I just wanted to ask how things were going with Nate.”
“Good, why?”
“Well, you’ve gone through a few partners over the years, and I wanted to know if you thought that this was the one that you wanted to work with.”
“Yeah, Nate and I work well together, don’t you think?” CD asked.
“From what I’ve seen of your work together, it’s very good, and I hope to see that in the future also. Have a good night, CD.” Kate said, signaling CD’s departure.
“You too, Cap. Bye.” CD called over her shoulder.
“So, what did she want?” Nate asked, giving CD a look. “You’re in trouble, aren’t you? Yup, I knew it. CD cant stay out of trouble!”
“Oh, shut up, Nate. You really are immature.” And although she had tried to stay stern about it, she was grinning from ear to ear.
“Oh, you know you love me.” Nate said, joking around.

At Jinny’s apartment, Jinny and Teddy were almost done with dinner. Jinny knew that Teddy wanted to move in as soon as possible, so she brought it up.
“When do you want to move in?” she asked, very straightforward.
“Well, whenever we both have the time.” Teddy said.
“OK, how about this weekend?” she suggested. She really wanted Teddy to move in now, before she changed her mind altogether.
“That’s good. What’s the rush all of a sudden?”
“I just really want us to be together, you know?” she asked with a seductive glance, leaning across the table to kiss him.
“Yeah, the feeling is definitely mutual.” He murmured his voice groggy, between kisses.
After a few minutes of kissing over the table, they both broke it off and stood up. Walking around the table to meet each other, Teddy’s hands found Jinny’s waist as her hands found his face and neck. They met in a long and passionate kiss which led Teddy’s hands to the small of Jinny’s back. Teddy’s back was to Jinny’s bedroom, but he started taking small backward steps, still attached to Jinny, who followed. When they got to the bedroom, Jinny broke the kiss off for a second while she looked down at Teddy’s shirt, which she started to fumble with the buttons, unhooking them, exposing his chest. Then, their lips met again as he started to lift her shirt over her head, so they had to separate for another second, but met very soon afterward.
Teddy fumbled with the hook of Jinny’s bra, which fell to the floor as she tried to unbutton his pants without looking down and breaking off the kiss. Finally they fell to the bed and under the covers.

CD entered her empty apartment, thinking about the fact that everyone else now had someone else to go home to, and she didn’t. Jinny had Teddy now, and Mag had Gabe. But she knew that Nate didn’t have anyone either, but she had her rules that she knew she better follow, or there would be some trouble on the job.
She closed the front door behind her and locked it, rubbing her eyes out of tiredness. ‘God I need Advil.’ She said out loud. ‘Now I’m talking to myself. Get a cat or something!’ she laughed. As she was walking towards the bathroom medicine cabinet, the phone began to ring. She assumed that it was going to be the Captain, realizing some important detail that she had forgotten to tell CD. But it wasn’t.
“Hello?” CD said into the phone.
“Hey CD. It’s me, Nate.” Nate replied.
“Oh, hi. What’s up?” she asked, knowing that she sounded like a complete idiot.
“Nothing. OK, yeah there is something. Umm…can we meet somewhere? I just really need to talk to someone right now.”
“Yeah. Where do you want to meet?” CD said, surprised at the desperateness in her partner’s voice. She’d never seen this side of him before.
“Can I just come over? I’m close by, I think. Anyway, I know where you live. So, can I?”
“Sure! What do you need to talk about?” she asked.
“Well, I can’t really tell you over the phone without sounding stupid, but I’m on my way over right now, OK?”
“OK. See you in a few minutes.” She said and hung up the phone. She walked back to the bathroom, grabbing the Advil and taking two. She made her way to the living room, picking things up on her way. Her apartment wasn’t exactly messy, just a little unorganized. She glanced at the clock and saw that it was already 10:30. ‘This better be really good.’ She said out loud again.

Captain Kate McCafferty climbed into her car in the parking lot of the Division at 10:30. She thought of going somewhere before going home, but decided against it. She was so tired all of the time since her mother had passed away. Amanda had only made things worse when she had brought Jill home. How could she not have known? Was the thought that was in her head most of the time. Of course, she had had some suspicions when Amanda wouldn’t talk for very long on the phone, but she had never suspected this. Not that she was against homosexuality, but this was a big surprise, coming from her own daughter, who had been very active in dating when she was in high school and after. Suddenly, she remembered Mark and their almost-baby. What would have happened if that baby would have been born?

Magda lay next to Gabe in her bed after they had had a very exciting night, to say the least. She was suddenly filled with a feeling of gladness that Gabe had been so happy about the baby. She had been so worried and couldn’t wait to tell Jinny that Gabe had accepted the news with open arms.

Nate knocked on CD’s apartment door, wearing jeans and a T-shirt. CD opened the door wearing a shirt and boxers. She was at the point where she just didn’t care anymore.
“What can I do for you, Nate?” she asked.
“Can I come in and talk to you for a minute?” he answered her question with one of his own.
“Well…isn’t that what you came over for in the first place?” she smiled at him. “Follow me.” He seemed really upset as he followed her to the living room, where he sat at one end of the couch and she sat at the other.
“OK, I need to tell you this because it’s been eating away at me.” He pauses.
“OK, go ahead.” She says, coaxing him.
“Well…you see…umm…I don’t know quite how to put this. CD…I think that I’m in love with you.” He said, rushing the last sentence.
“What?” she asks, still in shock.
“I think that I’m in love with you. I have looked at you as a sister for the past few months, but something in me changed towards you when I held you that day. Remember when you cried on my shoulder after telling that mother that her son was dead?” he asks.
“Yeah, I remember.”
“Well, after that, I’ve thought of you as...something more.”
“Nate, I am so flattered that you think that you love me, but I have rules about dating my partner.”
“If I wasn’t your partner, would you?”
“Yeah, I would.” She says, looking at her hands.
“Well, who says that we have to date?” he asks, grinning. “We don’t have to go out on dates or anything.”
“Nate, you are such a loser. You know what I mean. But I do like you. A lot.”
“I like you a lot, too.” He says his voice suddenly husky. He leans across the couch, where CD meets him, and they kiss. Both of them pulled back in surprise, looked each other in the eyes, smiled and kissed again. This time, each of them knew what they were doing.

She was still on a high from the night before, which she and Teddy had spent together. She knew for sure now that she was in love with him. As she climbed out of bed and walked quietly to the kitchen, Teddy started to stir. Jinny turned around and stood watching him wake up, smiling.
“Hey, Jin.”
“Good morning, Teddy. You want some breakfast?” she asked.
“Sure. What all do you have?”
“Well, I have lots, but I have limited skills in the cooking department. So what’ll it be?”
“Eggs?” he asked.
“Umm…I think I can do that! What kind?” she asked.
“Surprise me.” He said playfully. “What time is it?”
“7:00. We have lots of time.”
“I have something in mind.” He said, seductively.
“Really. Like what?”
“How about we skip breakfast?”
“OK, I can do that.” She said and climbed back into the bed.

Nate woke up that morning, in his own bed, at about 7:30. He put his head back on the pillow and tried to go back to sleep because he didn’t have to go to work until 9. The phone rang just as he was falling back asleep.
“God.” He muttered under his breath, running his hand through his hair as he stumbled to the living room, where he had to search for the phone.
“Hello?” he said into the phone.
“Nate. Hi. It’s me, CD.” CD said.
“Hey. What’s up?”
“I need to talk to you.” She said.
“About what?” he asked.
“About us. Are we going to go public with this?” she asked, worried.
“What do you mean? Are we going to tell people about us?”
“Yeah. Do you want to?” she asked.
“Well, why don’t we see what happens. Besides, people can figure these things out by themselves.”
“You’re right.”
“Of course I am. I always am right. I’d think that you’d know that by now.” He said, smiling into the phone.
“Oh, yeah. I forgot for a minute. What would I do without you reminding me of your correctness?” she asked, grinning.
“I don’t know. You are lucky I’m here, though.” He said.
“I know. Nate, I gotta go get ready for work, so I’ll talk to you later, ok?” she said.
“OK, bye.” He said and hung up the phone.

Magda stepped out of the shower and wrapped a towel around herself. She had about 45 minutes until Jinny was going to be there to get her and she wanted to tell her about the night before. Magda turned to her side and looked in the mirror, studying the profile of her body, tracing her stomach. There wasn’t really any trace of a baby there yet, but she could tell. Gabe knocked on the door and walked in without waiting for a response.
“Hey, I gotta go to work. Do you want me to take Ben to school?” he asked.
“Sure. My mom will pick him up though, so we can go out.”
“OK. Any special reason that we’re going out?” he asked.
“Just that it’s Friday and I want to spend time with you.” She said, smiling at her fiancé.
“I love you, Magda.” He said, wrapping his arms around her at the waist from behind.
“I love you, too, Gabe.” She said, turning to face him, looking up at his face as he leaned down for a kiss.
“Goodbye, baby.” Gabe said to her as he left.
“Bye. I have to tell Benjamin goodbye first.” She said and followed him out to the living room, grabbing her robe and putting it on, letting the towel fall, on the way.
Ben was sitting on the couch, playing his Gameboy again.
“Benjamin, your dad is going to take you to school today, ok?” she asked.
“OK, Mom.” He said, not looking up from his game.
“Grandma is picking you up today, too, ok Papi?” she said.
“Alright. Bye Mom!” he turned off the Gameboy and followed his dad out the front door.
“I’ll be home at 6:30, Mag.” Gabriel called over his shoulder.

Jinny pulled up at Magda’s house at 8:45 and stepped out of her car, yawning. She was exhausted from the long night, but she knew that it was well spent. As she started for Mag’s apartment, she smiled, remembering why she was tired. She wasn’t looking forward to the long days work, but she’d survive.
When she knocked on Magda’s door, she was greeted with a “come in.” She opened the door, seeing her best friend standing in front of the mirror, adjusting her jacket.
“Hey Mag, do you mind if I grab an apple or something? I didn’t have time for breakfast this morning.” she asked.
“No, I don’t mind. They’re in the bottom drawer in the refrigerator.” Magda replied, still looking in the mirror.
She studied her reflection, sweeping up her curly, brown hair and holding it there, striking poses, no doubt getting ready for her upcoming wedding. Getting fed up with it, she sticks her tongue out. Jinny walks back into the living room, and seeing Magda doing this, she laughs.
“Ooh, that one, Mag! I like the look!” she says, cracking up.
“Oh, shut up, Jin.” She grinned at her partner, picking up a pillow from the couch and throwing it at her.
Jinny, after tossing it back, turns suddenly serious. “You’re sure about this, though, right Mag? This is the real thing?”
“Yeah, I think it is, Jin. Well, I hope it is.”
“Well, you never told me how last night went.” Jinny said, lightening her mood and probing Magda for details.
“Ok, but the next time I ask for details, I’d better get some!” she said, smiling.
“OK, I’ll try.” Jinny said, as she and Magda climbed into Jinny’s car. Magda told Jinny about dinner the night before, but stopped at the part where they went in the bedroom.
“Ooh, what were you two doing in there, Magda?” Jinny asked accusingly, with an evil look on her face.
“Oh, probably the same things that you and Teddy were doing, don’t you suppose?”
“Shut up, Mag.” Jinny replied, grinning.

When CD walked into the division, Nate was the first person she saw, and although she’d never admit it, she liked the feeling.
“Good morning, Nate.” She said, smiling.
“‘Morning, CD.” Nate replied, smiling back. It would have been obvious to anyone watching, if they had been paying attention, that these two had a secret. But no one even glanced at them, so they were safe, so far.
“CD and Nate. In here.” Captain Kate McCafferty called to them from the doorway to her office.
“Oh God, what did we do this time?” Nate whispered to CD.
“We? Anything that happened, it was your fault.” CD assured him.

OK this isnt very much AT ALL...but i've been soo busy lately!

As they walked into their Captain’s office, Kate looked at them. There was something about the way they kept looking at each other that got her mind going. That and the fact that they were both laughing. She didn’t see a lot of that here.
“So, what can we do for you, Cap?” CD asked.
“Todd Gardner. Age 29. Found dead in an alley down by your apartment, CD. He was found at 5:30 this morning by a homeless man who called the cops.” Kate said.
“OK, so where exactly is it?” CD asks.
Kate gives them the address and they set off, both of them anxious to start a new case, but not looking forward to the sight of yet another dead body.

As CD and Nate reached the scene of the murder, they came upon the ME, Nora.
“Hey Nora. Any information?” CD asked.
“Nope. I can’t even get an APD.” Nora spoke softly to the taller woman.
“How did he die?” Nate asked.
“Looks like suffocation, but there could have been some drug overdosing, too. I don’t really know yet. Have to wait for the autopsy. Sorry guys.” She said, regretting that she couldn’t help them more.
“That’s ok. But you know that it was during the night, right?” CD asked.
“Right, but only because the bum that found this guy said he’d been here the day before at about 9.”
“OK, thanks.” Nate said, as he and CD started walking towards the car.
“You know that we have nothing to go on except this guys name and age, and maybe an address. But besides that, nothing.” Nate stated.
“Yeah, I know.” CD said, with a solemn look on her face.
“So, what do we do now?” Nate asked.
“Go back to the station and hope this guy had some information and wasn’t just another homeless man. Also, we need to track down that other homeless guy and interview him. Come on, Nate. You know what we have to do.” CD said, sounding disappointed, knowing that the reason Nate wasn’t thinking was her.
“Yeah, sorry.” He said, looking at the ground. He regretted telling her what he had the night before. Before, the mood had been light and playful. Now, it was heavy and thoughtful. Nate couldn’t stand it, but it was partially his fault, and he didn’t know what to do about it.

Jinny and Magda had finished the paperwork for the case that they wrapped up a few days before and headed to lunch. Jinny secretly hoped that Teddy wouldn’t be at the Anchorside, for fear of Magda’s incessant teasing all day. When they walked in and chose a booth by the window, Jinny looked at the ceiling and thanked God silently, until she looked at the door, and saw Teddy. ‘Yeah, the one time I actually thank you!’ she thinks.
“Hey girls.” Teddy walked towards them, smiling at Jinny like they had a secret.
“Hi Theodore.” Magda said to the DA, grinning.
“I take it she knows.” Teddy said, directing the comment at Jinny, who was smiling too.
“Yup. How could you tell?” she asked, grinning.
“Excuse me. I have to go to the bathroom.” Magda said, excusing herself.
“Nice excuse there, Mag.” Jinny said, looking up at her best friend.
“I figure you’ll want time alone. Be right back!” Magda said, as she and Jinny shared a look, although Jinny’s look was more of a glare.
“You know I’m gonna get crap for this all day, don’t you?” she asked Teddy smiling.
“Yeah, but isn’t it worth it?” he asked, bending down to kiss her.
“Yup.” She said after they had broken the kiss.
“I can only stay a few minutes. I really didn’t expect to see you here.” He said sounding kind of surprised. He sat down beside Jinny.
“Why?” she asked, turning to face him, although she knew why.
“Well…because…I mean, after rehab, isn’t it hard to be here and not drink?” he asked, noticeably uncomfortable by the conversation.
“No. Actually, it’s easier now to come back here and look at all the drinks, and think, ‘You know what? I don’t have to drink anymore.’” She said with a defiant look on her face.
“Jin, I am so proud of you. I don’t think I could ever go through what you have in your life. I love you so much.” He said, kissing her forehead.
“I love you too, Teddy,” she said. “You’re moving tonight, right?”
“Yeah, but I have to go home a pack stuff. I think it’s going to be more of a tonight through tomorrow sort of thing. You gonna help me pack?” he asked.
“If you want me to,” she said. “Do you want me to just stay over there tonight, then?”
“Sure,” he said, looking up, and seeing Mag, kissed Jin quickly and said, “well, I gotta get back to the office. I’ll see you tonight Jin.”
“Your place or mine?” she asked. She thought back to all the times that she’d said that same phrase in that bar and laughed.
“I’ll pick you up at yours, ok?” he asked.
“Alright. Bye.” She said as Magda approached the table, grinning. “Quite the long bathroom break there, Mag, wasn’t it?” Jin asked.
“Yeah, but it didn’t look like you had any objections.” Magda said, making her eyebrows go up and down.
“Shut up, Mag.”

“What? You can’t possibly mean that!” Nate said, taken completely aback.
“I do. I don’t want to, but I can’t let this affect my relationship with my work.”
“It won’t. I swear. Please, CD, I don’t just want to ignore this. I think that we could be something, but you can’t ignore it because of your job.”
“Nate, I have worked so hard to get where I am today. You don’t want to know the things that I had to put up with. For 5 years, I was the only female in my division, then I got transferred here, and thank God, there were 2 more. I would have gone insane. At the precinct before this, I hated to come to work, because the men used me as their maid. ‘CD, could you refill my coffee cup, please?’ I mean, come on. I was an inspector and a damn good one, but I was also a woman. I can’t let all that go because of a man, and I’m sorry that you have to be that man.” CD said, surprising even herself that she had let all this out to Nate.
Nate sat back for a minute. He had to think about what to say.
“CD, let’s go inside, ok?” he asked.
“Alright.” She said.

Jinny sat back in her chair and stretched, yawning. Cap thought that it was best to start a new case on Monday, instead of starting one on Friday afternoon. Jinny suddenly remembered that she got to go home to Teddy. The thought brought a smile to her face, making Magda look at her best friend.
“What are you smiling about?” she asked, although she already knew.
“Just thinking about Teddy. He’s moving in tonight,” Jinny said. She usually didn’t give Magda very much inside info about her personal life, but she felt that now she had a special bond with her. After all, they were both planning a wedding.
“Really? Already?” Magda asked, obviously shocked.
“Mag, you knew this.”
“No, I knew that you were going to get married. Not this. This is a big step, Jin. You sure you’re ready?” Magda asked.
“What? Are you trying to change my mind?” Jinny asked, getting mad at her best friend.
“No, Jin. I just don’t want you to move in with each other and realize that you’re wrong for each other. It’s so soon.”
“Yeah, I agree. It’s much better to get married and then realize that.” Jinny said sarcastically.
“Jin, don’t get mad at me for this. I don’t want you to have doubts like I’m having.”
“What do you mean, Mag?” Jinny asked, forgetting her anger.
“I don’t know. It’s just that Gabe and I have been living together for awhile now, you know, and some things that he does drive me crazy! He never puts the toilet seat down, he doesn’t clean up after himself, and he always makes me sound like the bad guy with Ben.” Magda said, looking Jinny in the eyes. She had obviously been thinking about this for awhile.
“Mag, I really hope that you don’t call off the wedding because of a toilet seat.” Jinny said, smiling.
“Oh, Jin. It’s much bigger than that.”
“Listen Mag. I know that you love Gabe. I think that you know this is the right thing, but if you want to not get married, I support you all the way. And if you ever need to talk, I’m here.” Jinny said, changing into her ‘best friend’ mode.
“Thanks, Jin. But I think I need to figure it out by myself.”
“I know, but you see how great he is with you and with Ben. I think that you’re just nervous.”
Kate walked into the room at the end of that conversation, hearing just the last sentence. She didn’t say anything, but she called them both to her office.

“Yeah, Cap?” Magda asked.
“I overheard your conversation. Will one of you please update me on what exactly is going on here?” Kate asked.
“Cap, I really don’t think that it’s any of your business.” Jinny said. She had suddenly remembered her anger at Magda, and Kate was not making this any better.
“Jinny, it’s not going to kill you to let her know what’s going on in your life.” Magda said.
“Fine. Magda is getting married, but you already knew that. Teddy’s moving in with me tonight, and we are still getting married, but we haven’t set a date. Mag has, right?” Jinny asked her best friend, smiling a little too big.
“Umm…yeah, we have. June 30th,” Magda said, surprised that Jinny had offered up all of the information. She directed the next part at Kate, “and of course you are invited. Your invitation is in the mail and should be there soon, but I thought I’d tell you first.”
“Of course I’ll be there, Magda. I have to find a date first though!” Kate said, smiling.
Jinny shuddered at the thought of her captain with someone as she and Magda walked out of her office.
“What?” Magda asked as she saw Jinny.
“Nothing.”

As soon as her two inspectors had left, Kate called her ex-husband.
“Louis, hi. How are you?” she asked, not really caring. She just needed a date for the wedding.
“I’m good. Amanda is too. I called to ask you something...can you come to a wedding with me on the 30th?” she winced as she said it. “Yes…it’s for one of my inspectors…yes I do remember our wedding.” She said, rolling her eyes.

“So, CD who are you taking to the wedding?” Nate asked his partner.
“I don’t know Nate. Who are you taking?” she asked.
“Well…no one yet. I was wondering if maybe you’d go with me, as friends, of course.” He added for the benefit of the other people listening to their conversation. Jinny looked at him out of the corner of her eye, in disbelief.
“Sure, Nate. As friends.” CD replied, well aware of the stares of her coworkers.
“Cool.” Nate said, sounding like a teenager who just scored a date.

That night, Jinny walked into her apartment, calling Teddy’s name. When she got no response, she walked to her bedroom and put her badge and gun holster on her bed, starting to unbutton her shirt, when the phone rang.
“Hello?” she answered breathlessly after running from the back of her apartment and searching for the portable phone.
“Hey Jinny Girl.”
“Hey Dad. What’s going on?” she asked.
“Nothing. I just wanted to see if you’d like to come over for dinner on Sunday night.” Jinny’s dad asked.
“Umm…sure,” she said. “Dad, is it alright if Teddy comes too? We kind of have something to tell you.”
“Sure, Jin.” He said, smiling. He was already sensing that she was going to tell him that Teddy had proposed.
“Well, Dad, I was just getting in the shower, so can I let you go?” she asked.
“Yeah, honey. I’ll talk to you later. Bye.”
“Bye.”
Jinny got back in the shower, washed and dried herself and got ready for the late night.

Magda walked into her apartment that she now shared with Gabe and noticed what a mess it was. She didn’t really care, because she still had to get ready for the night out with Gabe. She couldn’t wait to see where they were going, although she knew that she wouldn’t have cared where they went, as long as she was with him.

CD walked into her empty apartment, and unlike the others, she knew that it was going to be empty all night long. She hated that feeling, and she hated how she always compared herself to the other inspectors. Every time that she thought about how bad her love life was, she used to always think that Jinny’s was ten times worse. Now, Jinny had the sweetheart named Teddy to go home to, and she had no one. She thought briefly of calling Nate, but decided against it. She didn’t want to sound desperate and knew that she would if she called him.

Teddy walked into the apartment that he now shared with Jinny, calling for her. Jinny didn’t hear him because she was in the bathroom, blow drying her hair, wrapped in a towel. Jinny hadn’t looked at the door, so she hadn’t noticed her fiancé entering, so Teddy snuck up on her, scaring her.
“Boo!” Teddy yelled, smiling at her from behind, into the mirror.
“Oh, my god, Teddy! You scared the crap out of me!” Jinny said, turning towards him and playfully hitting him.
“Aw, I’m sorry.” Teddy replied, giving her a puppy dog look.
“You’re forgiven.” She said, smiling at him, kissing him. Her hands, around his neck at first, moved slowly to his jacket, removing it. Teddy started backing out of the bathroom, towards the bedroom.
“You know,” Teddy said, breaking off the kiss. “We’re not getting a very good start at moving.”
“You think I care?” Jinny said, smiling, resuming the kiss, leading Teddy to the bedroom.

As CD was calling in for Chinese, Nate was thinking about calling her. He really wanted to talk to her about their so-called relationship, but he wasn’t really sure how to approach the subject. He picked up the phone, dialed and listened as the phone rang.

CD, on the phone with the Chinese food place, heard the beep, signaling that she had another call coming in. ‘Well…you’ll have to wait,’ she thought, and finished ordering her dinner.

When CD didn’t answer her phone, Nate was just sure that she was avoiding him. ‘Damn it, Nate. You screwed up again,’ he told himself, sitting on his couch and burying his face in his hands.

CD hung up the phone, picked back up and pressed *69. (Caller ID, that’s the number here, I don’t know what it is elsewhere!) As she listened to the number, she realized that it was Nate’s and laughed out loud. She should have figured. She was still laughing as she dialed his number.
“Hello?” Nate asked.
“Hey, you called?” CD asked.
“Yeah, I figured you were avoiding me. What’s so funny?” he asked.
“Nothing. I was ordering Chinese. Want to come over and share?” she invited him.
“Sure. Let me check my schedule,” he says, humming. “Well…I have an opening on…January 1st, 2056.”
“Oh, shut up. You coming over or not?”
“Yup. Be there in 15 minutes.”
“Bye.” CD said and hung up the phone, smiling.

Kate was getting ready to leave for the weekend. She looked around at her desk to see if she was missing anything. She always took a shoulder bag full of work home with her, and she was making sure that she wasn’t forgetting a piece of important information. She remembered her date with Ross and smiled, knowing she wouldn’t have much time for paperwork.

Magda and Gabe sat in a restaurant on the other side of the city from Kate. Work was definitely the farthest thing from Magda’s mind.
“So, how was your day?” Gabe asked.
“Pretty good. Kind of slow. How was yours?”
“Alright. But I didn’t get to see you all day.” Gabe said.
“Aw. What do you want?” Magda asked playfully.
“Just you.” Gabe said, and kissed her.
“Really. The feeling is definitely mutual,” Mag said. “What do you say we skip the dancing part tonight?”
“I say that’s a really good idea.”
They ate the rest of their candlelit dinner in the quiet restaurant and went home.

Jinny and Teddy were just leaving Jinny’s apartment as Magda and Gabe were walking into their apartment.
“Jin, I love you.” Teddy said, gazing into her eyes at the stoplight.
“Love you too, but if we’re ever going to get there, you better go.” She said, glancing at the light.
“Oh, right. Good idea.” Teddy said, laughing.
They arrived at Teddy’s apartment and Jinny looked around, surprised. She had been here before, but never with it looking so bare.
“Teddy, is there anything left to pack?” she asked, doubtfully. “Looks like you’ve got it all.”
“Well…I still have to pack my clothes. Have you thought about where I’m going to put them all?”
“Ooh, that’s probably not such a bad thing to start thinking about, huh?” she asked, looking guilty.
“Jin, is there any room for my stuff?”
“Yeah, of course,” Jinny said. She could tell Teddy didn’t believe her. “and if not, we can always make room. Don’t worry about a thing.”
“I’m trying, but it’s not so easy with you being the one leading this.”
“Are you questioning my ability?”
“Yup.”
“You’re gonna have to pay.” Jinny said, plopping down on the couch, where Teddy sat too.
“Oh, really. How are you going to make me?” Teddy asked.
“Oh, you’ll see.” Jinny replied with a smirk, leaning in to kiss him.

CD and Nate were busy eating their Chinese food when the phone rang. Although CD was thinking, ‘Who calls this late?’ she pretended people called at 10:30 all the time.
“Hello?”
“CD, it’s the Captain. Do you know where Nate is?” Kate asked. She had realized that she needed to talk to him before she left, but he was gone.
“Umm…” was CD’s response, unsure of whether or not to tell the Cap about her and Nate.
“Do you know where he is?” the Cap repeated.
“Yeah, I do. He’s here.” She came right out with it.
“OK, can I talk to him?” Captain asked, acting as though it was no big deal.
“Yeah, sure.” She said, handing the phone to Nate. Nate wiped his mouth with his hand, causing CD to say, “That’s gross, Nate.”
“I know.” He replied with an evil grin. He mouthed, Who is it?
CD mouthed back, ‘The Cap.’
Nate’s mouth made an ‘O’ as he spoke into the phone.
“Hey Cap. What can I do for you?” he asked.
“Nate, I need to ask you something. Is there some way that you can get away from CD?”
“Yeah…hold on.” Nate said, looking at CD and raising his eyebrows. ‘Be right back’ he mouthed and headed for her bedroom.
“OK, what is it?” Nate was not happy about being torn away from her, but he had to do what he had to do.
“Is there something going on between you and CD?” Kate asked.
“Gee, no beating around the bush with you, is there?” Nate said sarcastically.
“I only ask because if it’s going to interfere with your work, it needs to stop, or you’ll find yourself with a new partner. Besides, CD would never tell me.” So that was her reason for asking him instead of CD.
“Nope. Nothing at all. We were just eating dinner and going over our case. Why?”
“On a Friday night? Why does this surprise me?”
“I had an opening in my date book. A cancellation.” Nate said.
“Really. You’d better hope that you’re not lying.”
“You have nothing to worry about, Cap. Bye.” He hung up and said, “I’m going to hell.”

Teddy broke off the kiss and stood up.
“At this rate, we’ll be all moved in next year!” Teddy said, throwing his hands in the air.
“We wouldn’t want that, now would we?” Jinny replied, seductively.
“Come on.” Teddy coaxed her onto her feet. “We’ve got to get a move on. If you want me to live with you, then we have some major packing to do.”
“Why? You’ve already done everything!” Jinny said. All she wanted was Teddy back on the couch. “It’s just a matter of putting everything in my car and yours, and carting it to my apartment.”
“I still have things to take care of. You can stay here if you want, but I have to go pack some more of my clothes.”
“Ok, where’s the TV?” Jinny asked, not looking at Teddy. He couldn’t believe how non-responsive she was being. “Come on, Teddy. Lighten up. If we’re going to have dinner with my dad and brother on Sunday, you’re gonna have a lot of work to do!”
“Why? What could possibly be so bad?”
A grunt from Jinny was his response. “You don’t want to know.”

Kate hung up her cell phone with Nate and looked behind her, waiting for Ross to arrive at the restaurant. She knew there was something going on with CD and Nate. She just needed to find out more about it before she made any more accusations. The problem with them being a couple had barely anything to do with the work, it was Kate’s problem. She was too nosy and needed to know everything that went on between her inspectors. She had made up the part about needing to find new partners so he’d tell her. It hadn’t worked, needless to say.
Ross showed up 5 minutes late, but Kate didn’t mind. He walked in the door and looked around the crowded restaurant, looking for Kate.
“Ross, over here!” Kate stood up and said loudly.
He made his way over to her, dodging a few people. “Hey! How are you?” he asked as he kissed her cheek.
“I’m good. How are you?”
“OK, considering.”
“Considering what?” the instincts she had told her that sounded wrong.
“Considering I haven’t seen you in about a week,” Ross said.
“Oh, that.” Kate said, somewhat letdown that it hadn’t been a bigger problem.
“Yeah, that. Kate, I wasn’t going to say anything about that to you, but we need to see each other more often. It’s killing me.”
“Well, that’s certainly not all my fault, you know.” Kate pointed out.
“No, it’s not yours at all, in fact. It’s Louis’.”
Kate gave an exasperated sigh. “Why did you have to bring him up?”
“Because he’s evidently causing problems in our relationship. Has he called you lately?”
“Yeah, he asked me to Magda’s wedding.”
“I thought that you said they didn’t have a date picked out yet.” Ross said, accusingly.
“They didn’t, a week ago when I last talked to you.” Kate said.
“Oh. Well, what did you say?”
“I said that I already have a date. I do, don’t I?” she asked.
“Oh yes, I forgot.” Ross said with a smile, obviously forgetting all about Louis, for the moment.

Nate and CD sat in CD’s dark living room, CD resting on Nate’s shoulder. She was thinking about what to tell the Captain on Monday morning. What could she possibly say? But then again, why was it any of Kate’s business. CD tightened her whole body at the thought of anyone knowing about their relationship. Nate felt the movement, so he asked,
“What’s wrong?”
“Nothing,” was CD’s response, a little too quickly.
Nate had been enjoying the silence of the apartment, just sitting there with CD. He hated knowing that she was upset. He had been noticeably more protective over her ever since she had shown him the letter about her rape, and he wanted more information about it, but didn’t want to push her.
“No, CD. I know when something’s wrong with you. You get all tense.”
“No, I don’t.” CD said, stubbornly.
“Oh yeah?” he asked. “Look at you!” he tried to move her right arm but it stayed tightly entwined with her left.
“OK, I was just thinking about how crappy you lie.”
“Gee, thanks,” Was Nate’s sarcastic reply.
“Well, think about it. Captain calls and she already suspects something. You can’t lie at all, so we’re screwed.”
“Maybe not. Why does she care anyways?”
“I don’t know. She and I have been friends for awhile. Ever since Dick’s…suicide, she’s been extra nice to me. I’m really grateful to her for it.” CD said, stumbling over the word ‘suicide.’
“Well, she’s done her duty. She can stop now. Tell her that I’m here, I’ll take care of you from now on.”
“Thanks Nate. But I think that’s what we’re avoiding here. You know, telling the Cap.”
“Oh yeah.”

“Jinny, could you get the door?” Teddy called from his bedroom.
“Yeah.” Jinny yelled, as she heard the doorbell ring insistently. “I’m coming, I’m coming.”
Jinny opened the door to face Theodore’s mother.
“Jinny, right?” she asked.
“Yeah, Heidi?”
“Yes. Is my son here?” the older woman asked, looking over Jinny’s shoulder.
“Yeah, he’s in his bedroom, packing.”
“Excuse me?”
“He’s in his bedroom, packing.” Jinny repeated, articulating the words a little too much.
“Well then. Excuse me.” Heidi pushed Jinny gently aside and stalked to the back of her son’s apartment.
“Teddy, your mom’s here!” Jinny yelled from the front door, knowing that there was going to be trouble.

“Mom!” Teddy called out in surprise.
“Where are you moving to, Theodore?” Heidi demanded.
“Jinny’s apartment.” Teddy looked at his mother, then over her shoulder as Jinny entered his bedroom, her mouth in the shape of an ‘O.’
“And when were you going to tell me this?”
“Dinner tomorrow night.” Teddy said, looking at the ground. He’d forgotten to mention this fact to Jinny, who was glaring at him now.
“Well, you’ll have a wonderful time telling your father. He’ll actually enjoy this. Are you two planning on getting married?” she asked, seeming to be cooling down.
“Yes, we do, Mrs. Blumenthal.” Jinny said, interrupting the mother yelling at her son.
“Do you have a date set?” Heidi turned her glare from Teddy to a nice soft gaze at Jinny.
“Not quite yet, but we figured that it’s better to make our mistakes living together than to have to get divorced and possibly have to sort through children, you know?”
“Yes, and I respect your decision. I am only upset that I didn’t know this before now, is all.” Heidi was completely calm now, and Jinny kept a smile on her face. Teddy was amazed at how much Jinny could change from a sarcastic, cold woman, to a smiling sweet talker. He would never figure her out.
“Well, Mom. I’m sure you came here for a reason.”
“Actually, I just felt the need to stop over. I was in the neighborhood, and I wasn’t aware that you and Jinny were back together, or I wouldn’t have stopped by.” Heidi said, smiling in Jinny’s direction.
“Well, Mrs. Blumenthal, we were just packing because he’s moving in this weekend. We’ve already had dinner, but we have some leftovers in the kitchen. Would you like some?” Jinny asked, all manners.
“No thank you. I already ate, and I really should be going. It was nice seeing you again, Jinny. I’m assuming that you’ll be at dinner on Saturday?” Heidi asked.
“Yes, even though I hadn’t heard anything about this until a few minutes ago.” Jinny said, tossing a glance in Teddy’s direction.
“Well, I’ll look forward to seeing you at our place. Goodbye!” Heidi called over her shoulder.
“Bye!” Jinny called. She closed the door, walked to the couch and collapsed. It took a lot from her to act like a goody two shoes, even for such a short period of time. She didn’t know how she was going to make it through the whole dinner. Teddy sat down beside her.
“Are you mad at me?” Teddy asked.
“Of course not. I just can’t believe that you didn’t tell me anything about the dinner before tonight.”
“I was going to tell you tonight at dinner, but, well, one thing kind of lead to another and I got distracted.” Teddy said, grinning.

OK, I'm sorry it's not much, but I need to get back to writing. And I'm sorry its just more Jinny/ Teddy for those of you who wanted more Kate!

Teddy and Jinny packed the rest of Teddy’s things and got them into both of their cars. It was almost midnight when they got up to his apartment, ready to go to sleep. All they had left to do was drive to Jinny’s and unpack. Jinny was going to stay the night, since the next day was Saturday, not that it would have stopped her if it was a weekday, anyway. Jinny went into Teddy’s bathroom, which was nearly empty, and put on one of his button up shirts. Teddy’s dad had called since his mom had left and asked if he wanted him to pick up some of his things. They agreed that they should store his bed in his parents’ basement, so his dad was going to pick up the bed in the morning.
“Now, Teddy, you do realize that we have to be up early tomorrow, right?” Jinny asked, coming out of the bathroom and seeing him in bed reading.
“Umm…yeah, I know. But the real question is do you think I care?”
“I don’t know. Having your dad walk in and see us sleeping together is not really something that I want to happen, you know?”
“Yeah, I know. But for the time being, why don’t we just set the alarm clock and you get into bed?”
So that’s exactly what they did, but they didn’t get much sleep that night.

In the morning, Magda woke up slowly, sitting up and looking around. She smiled, realizing that she had the apartment to herself since Gabe had taken Ben to the park. She still had to get up and shower, because they had a family day planned. They were going out to lunch and then go to the zoo. Magda knew that she wasn’t going to have much fun, but she didn’t care as long as she was spending more time with Gabe and Ben. She couldn’t wait for their wedding, and she knew that she and Jinny were going to have to go shopping for dresses soon. Jinny hadn’t even set a date, but Magda wanted to be part of the planning of her best friend’s wedding, unlike Jinny, who didn’t want to screw up. Magda stretched, smiling at the thought of her best friend getting married. As she was stretching, the phone rang. Magda jumped up to get it.
“Hello?”
“Mag? It’s Jinny. Can you come over to my place next Saturday?” she asked.
“Of course. Why?”
“Well, Teddy’s mom has just informed me that we have to have a welcoming party for Teddy. Who knew there were so many things to plan?” Jinny asked, laughing.
“Yeah, I’ll come. Do you need me to bring anything?”
“Nope. Teddy’s mom is cooking, and Teddy told me that she cooks enough for an army when it’s just the four of them, so she’s got everything under control.”
“So, I’m assuming you told her today. What did she say?” Magda asked, being her nosy self.
“Actually, she stopped by last night while we were packing, so she figured things out last night. But she took it extremely well, considering.”
“Yeah, I can imagine what a shock that would be. Coming to visit and find that your youngest son is moving in with someone she hardly knows, and then getting married to her.”
“Yep, I can imagine too. I’m going to need to go pretty soon, so can I let you go?”
“Yeah. I’m meeting Gabe and Ben to go to the zoo, so I’ll talk to you later!”
“Ooh, have fun!” Jinny said sarcastically. “Bye!”
“Bye.” Magda hung up the phone, thinking of how different Jinny was now that she back with Teddy and sober. She really liked the changes she was seeing in her best friend, but she had no time to reflect, because she had to meet her guys.

Kate walked into her kitchen in her bathrobe, getting ready to make coffee. Ross had stayed the night, just as she knew that he would. He was still sleeping, but Kate was an early riser by nature, so she had woken up at 8, which was late for her. Despite the lack of sleep from the night before, Kate was surprisingly energetic. She thought of calling Amanda, just to see how she was doing, so she picked up the phone. She figured she’d have time before Ross woke up, and hoped it wasn’t too early and Amanda was up. Kate dialed the number and listened to it ring twice.
“Hello?” Amanda answered halfway into the third ring. Her voice was lively, so Kate knew she was awake.
“Hey Sweetie. How are you?” Kate asked.
“Hey Mom. I’m good. Is something wrong?” Amanda automatically thought the worst.
“No, there’s nothing wrong. Can’t a mom just call her daughter for the heck of it?”
“Well, some moms, but not you!” Amanda exclaimed. “But I’ll let you, just this once.”
The two continued talking until Ross walked into the kitchen, leaned over and kissed Kate on the cheek.
“Good morning, honey.” He said, not knowing who was on the phone.

OK, guys. I'm leaving for about a week, so I'm posting lots!

Jinny and Teddy were at Jinny’s apartment, unpacking his things. They had been woken up by a phone call even earlier than the alarm clock was set for, at 6:30. When Teddy had answered the phone, his voice still groggy, she heard him say, “Oh, hi Mom.” Jinny rolled her eyes and tried to fall back asleep, but she knew it was useless. She could get by on only 3 hours of sleep. She’d done it before, and this time, she didn’t have to suffer through the hangover from the night before. She quickly got in the shower and they were out of Teddy’s apartment by 8. It was now 11, and Jinny felt as though if she never saw her future in-laws, she wouldn’t be missing anything. After she had gotten out of the shower, she had called Mag, and that was pretty early. She really hadn’t thought about the time and now she felt bad, thinking she might have woken Mag up. ‘Oh well. She didn’t sound mad.’ Jinny thought to herself. At 12, Teddy went to the restaurant a couple of blocks away from Jinny’s apartment to get lunch, while Jinny stayed behind and straightened things out. As she was thinking about her new life, she realized how much they already acted like a married couple. The phone rang, and Jinny sighed. It seemed like every time she got a moment to herself, the phone rang.
“Hello?” Jinny barked into the phone, her good mood lost.\
“Jinny?” came the familiar voice from the other end.
“Yeah. Who is this?” She recognized the voice, but couldn’t place it.
“This is Dusty. Remember AA?” he asked. He knew that he probably should have called sooner, but he didn’t want to risk pushing her over the edge.
“What do you want?” Jinny asked. She had completely forgotten about AA when Teddy had walked back into her life. It had been a whirlwind week, so much had happened.
“Where have you been? You’ve missed two meetings.”
“Well, I don’t think that I need AA anymore.”
“Oh, really. I think you do. Do you really want to drink again?” Dusty asked.
“No, I don’t. And I know that I won’t. Remember how I told you that I couldn’t sleep at night?”
“Yeah.”
“I can now. So I don’t need AA anymore.” Jinny said, getting ready to end the conversation.
“Jinny, I think that, unless you go to an AA meeting, you’re going to drink. And however happy you think you are, you know the minute that the initial happiness wears off, it’s back to drinking. You need the backup.” Dusty said, hoping to make her come back to AA.
“Dusty, you drank, but I forgave you. And I will still be your sponsor until you’re back on your feet. But I don’t need AA anymore. I’m sure.” Jinny was starting to soften up, and she knew it.
“Ok, Jinny. It’s your choice. But you’re going to drink.” Dusty said.
“Thanks for the vote of confidence.” Jinny replied sarcastically and hung up.

“Mom, who is that?” came Amanda’s voice from the other end of the phone.
“Umm…Ross. My new, well,” Kate stammered at the words.
“Boyfriend?” was Amanda’s suggestion.
“Call it what you want.” Kate stated.
“OK, well, I see that you’re, well, busy, so I’ll let you go. Love you Mom.”
“Love you too, sweetie. Bye.” Kate said, and hung up the phone, turning to face Ross.
“I’m sorry,” he said. “I didn’t know that it was your daughter.”
“It’s ok. I think that it’s good that I can tell her these things, and it’s about time she learned about us anyway.”
“Yeah, you’re right. So, what do you want for breakfast?” Ross asked.
“I’m not very hungry.” Kate replied.
“Well, you should be!” Ross exclaimed, and Kate swatted him with a dishtowel.

As Magda, Gabe, and Ben walked through the zoo, Ben wanted to see every animal, twice. He loved the zoo, and he loved the ice cream that he constantly got, every time that he complained of the heat, even more. When Ben ran ahead to say hi to a couple of friends he knew from school, Magda and Gabe hung back, watching their son.
“Magda, can you believe that, eight years after he was born, we’re finally getting married?” Gabe asked. He didn’t quite know how Magda was going to respond.
“I know. And I really can’t wait. This is so unbelievable. You have no idea how long I’ve waited for this to happen.” She exclaimed.
“Oh, yes I do. You forget that I’ve waited the same amount of time.”
“Yeah, but you didn’t have a kid there everyday to remind you of me, did you?” Mag asked, her anger flaring. She had tried so hard not to bring it up again, but she really couldn’t help it.
“Magda, do we really have to get into this here?” Gabe asked, looking exasperated.
“No, I’m sorry. Look, let’s just drop it, ok?” Magda suggested, forging a smile as their son walked back to them. “Hey, Papi. How are your friends?”
“Good, Mom. But I’m getting hot. Can I have more ice cream please?” Ben asked.
“Benjamin, you have had way too much ice cream for one day.”
“Dad?” Ben looked expectantly up to his dad.
“Do what your mother tells you, son,” was his firm reply.
“OK.” Benjamin pouted.

Jinny and Teddy were finally done unpacking Teddy’s things. It had taken most of the day, and they were both extremely relieved to be done. They had run into a few problems. Like, where to put Teddy’s clothes. Jinny had no idea when he had proposed the idea to move in together, that it would require so many clothes! After some rearranging of Jinny’s closet and room, they finally did it.
After unpacking the last boxes at 3:00, Jinny and Teddy both collapsed on the couch.
“Teddy, we’re not ever moving. Ever.” Jinny said, closing her eyes.
“And why is that?” Teddy asked, closing his eyes also.
“I’m so exhausted.”
“Maybe you should get more sleep at night.” Teddy suggested with an evil grin.
“Oh, and whose fault is it that I don’t?” Jinny exclaimed, opening one eye, and not sitting up.
“That’d be mine,” Teddy responded. “Well, look on the bright side. We still have dinner with my parents to look forward to!”
“Oh my god. I completely forgot!” Jinny said, springing up. “I still have to take a shower, and get ready!”
“Jinny, calm down. It’s a casual dinner. You don’t need to dress up.”
”I know, but I don’t think I should go there when I smell like I do now.” Jinny said, wrinkling her nose.
“I don’t think there’s anything wrong with the way you smell.” Teddy said, grabbing her by the waist and pulling her back down to sit on the couch.
“Teddy, we really don’t have time for this.” Jinny tried to resist, but she couldn’t, as Teddy kissed her. Jinny made a groaning noise in her throat, and Teddy moved away. Jinny jumped up.
“Thank you.” She exclaimed, turning her head over her shoulder, giving him a mischievous grin, heading for the shower. Then, seeing Teddy’s look of disappointment, she added, “Life’s not all sex and games, Teddy.”

Kate and Ross were getting dressed to go to Jinny’s apartment. Jinny had called them too, as she had called CD, Nate and Raina after she’d called Magda. She really didn’t want to be alone with Teddy and his mother.
“Ross, are you sure you want to come?” Kate asked. She was having doubts about whether or not her inspectors should see her with someone.
“Kate, you’re really going to have to forget about your job. Just this once.”
“I know, but I can’t help it.”

Magda, Gabe and Ben all drove to Jinny’s apartment. At first, Magda was reluctant to let him come, but Ben was so excited to see Jinny, whom he loved.
“Now Benjamin, please remember your manners,” Magda said to her son, who was playing his Gameboy in the backseat. Gabe was driving and Magda was in the passenger seat.
“I will, Mom. You know that I always do.” Ben stated.
“Yes, I know. But I just wanted to make sure.” Magda said, turning back to face the front.
“Mag, don’t worry. Our son’s the best kid there is.” Gabe said, not taking his eyes off the road.
“I know,” but she didn’t. She knew their son was becoming impossible, and the new baby was only going to make it worse. They hadn’t told him yet, and neither wanted to be the one to do it.

CD pulled up in her car, just as Nate did. They smiled at each other, and CD looked at the closest parking spot she could see. She put her foot on the gas pedal and moved forward, just as Nate did, eyeing the same spot. CD winced as she heard the fender of her car scrape the metal of his.
“Crap,” she said.
“Damn it!” Nate cursed.
They both jumped out of the car, inspecting the damage.
“Are you alright?” Nate asked.
“Yeah, but my car’s not.”
“Oh, sorry about that.” Nate apologized.
“Yeah, you should be. But I guess I can forgive you.” CD said, and grinned at him.
Nate grinned back, “So, how are you?” he asked.
“Oh, you know, since I haven’t seen you since last night, so much could change.” CD said, with a grin still on her face.
“Shut up.” Nate said and grabbed her hand, and they walked up to Jinny’s apartment building, hand in hand.

No replies...if SOMEONE wanted more, SOMEONE could have replied. JMO though! lol..But since Miranda posted, I guess I can be nice enough to too!

Jinny had known something was going on between CD and Nate, and looking out her bedroom window confirmed it.
“Mag!” Jinny called for her best friend, who was out in the living room, talking to Teddy’s mother.
“What?” Mag asked, walking into the room, looking concerned.
“Hurry up and get over here and look out the window. Ha! I told you!” Jinny exclaimed.
“Oh my gosh. The Cap’s here too. What if she sees them?” Mag asked.
“Crap.” Jinny said, and made a dash for the front door. Running for the elevator, she hoped to catch them before they got farther than her apartment.
CD’s and Nate’s hands were unattached when the elevator doors opened, but another part of their bodies wasn’t. (Their lips!)
“Ahem.” Jinny cleared her throat, smiling at them.
“Oh, hi,” Nate said, stepping out of the elevator. “How are you?”
Laughing, Jinny replied, “Pretty good. But I was coming out here to warn you guys that the Cap is coming today, so, uh, try and keep your hands off each other, ok?”
“Umm, Jinny. Just one question. How did you know?” CD asked.
“I knew last week, but Mag disagreed. I knew because of the way you looked at each other. I’ve seen that look a few times before.” She said, grinning.
“You mean, you’ve given that look a few times?” CD teased.
“That too.”
The three of them walked the few steps that it took to get to Jinny’s apartment from the elevator. Walking in the door, CD and Nate were greeted by a few of their colleagues. Jinny walked through her apartment, searching for Teddy, finding him talking to his father.
“Hey guys,” she said. “What are you talking about?”
“Nothing much,” Teddy’s father said, smiling at his soon to be daughter-in-law. “Teddy’s mother has been looking forward to this for quite some time.”
“I wasn’t aware she was.” Teddy said, putting an arm around Jinny’s waist.
“Yeah, seeing as how she’s only known about us for a few days,” Jinny stated, smiling at Teddy’s dad.
“No, not just now. All her life she’s waited to give away her son. This is it. I think it’s going to be harder than she thought.” Mr. Blumenthal said, turning to find his wife.

Captain Kate McCafferty and Ross pulled into Jinny’s apartment’s parking lot 5 minutes before she had told them to be there. They headed up to her apartment, Kate leading the way. As they reached Jinny’s apartment, Kate took a deep breath and walked in. She was greeted by CD, Nate, Raina, and surprisingly, Jinny.
“Hey, Cap. Thanks for coming.” Jinny said, smiling.
“Yeah, its great to be here,” Kate said, smiling back. “Where should I put this?” she asked, holding up a small package.
“Cap, you weren’t supposed to bring gifts!” Jinny exclaimed, thinking of how nice this was of her Captain.
“Yeah, well…you only get married…” She said, stopping herself before she got too far.
“Yep, I understand.” Jinny said. “Come meet Teddy’s parents. Mr. and Mrs. Blumenthal, this is my Captain, Kate McCafferty.”
“Well, it’s nice to meet you.” Teddy’s father said, shaking the red head’s hand.
“You too.” Kate said.

In the course of a half hour, all of Jinny’s guests had arrived. Her dad, Casey, Magda, and even John Jr. even though Jinny hadn’t wanted him there, had all showed up. She was being a good hostess, showing people around the apartment, getting food, and smiling for what seemed like an eternity. Finally, when the guests just sat down and relaxed, Jinny found Mag sitting on the couch with Gabe and Ben.
“So, how’re you enjoying the party, Ben?” Jinny asked.
“It stinks. There are no kids here.” Ben said, knowing that he’d get in trouble from his mother.
Jinny grinned. “Yeah, I know how that goes. Tell you what, sweet boy. Why don’t I run you home after the party so you can get your swim trunks and we can all go swimming?”
“Sounds good. Thanks Jinny.” Ben said, grinning back.
“Don’t worry about it.” Jinny replied, bending down to kiss the top of his head and ruffle his hair.
“Jin, you don’t have to do that. I know you have enough to worry about without worrying about Benjamin, who needs to start minding his manners.” Mag said, fixing a glare on Ben who sat oblivious to his mother’s anger, gazing out the window.
“Mag, I want to, ok? Besides, it’ll give you and Gabe some deserved time off.” Jinny said with a wink.
“Geez, Jin. Is that still all you think about?”
“You better believe it!”

Jinny walked off and went and found Teddy again, who was talking to his brother, who had come without a date.
“Hey, buddy. Where’s the mandatory blond on your arm?” Jinny asked, teasing him and linking arms with Teddy.
“Ah, she’s sick tonight, but I got my eyes set on that chick over there.” He said, directing his eyes toward CD.
“Forget it, she’s currently attached.” Jinny said.
“Are you sure?”
“Oh yeah. Look at the eyes. Come on. It’s there, am I the only one who can see that?” Jinny asked.
“Guess so, honey.” Teddy said, leaning down to whisper in her ear, ‘Hey, what are you doing later?’
Jinny controlled herself, whispering back, ‘Nothing, but I’m free now.’
“What are you two doing?” Teddy’s brother asked, backing away.
“Talking…what does it look like we’re doing?” Jinny asked, as he backed farther away, until he ran into his mother, grinning at the couple whispering in the corner.
“So, how about that offer?” Jinny said quietly enough so that only he could hear.
“Hmm…you mean I might have to carry through with it?” Teddy asked, mocking shock.
“Hey, you made the offer. I’m only seeing through with it. Not like I’ll be having any fun either!” Jinny said, finally laughing.
“Meet me in the bathroom in 5 minutes.” Teddy said, with a solemn expression on his face.
“I think I can do that, Mr. DA.” Jinny said, as they walked off to find someone to talk to.

“I have to go to the bathroom, if you’ll excuse me?” Jinny said, excusing herself from the conversation she was having with CD, Nate and Raina.
“Sure…leave us right in the middle of a good one!” Nate said. “You really gotta go?”
“No, I can go here too, but it’ll be easier in the bathroom.” Jinny said, grinning.
As she walked off, she heard CD say to Nate, “Yep, she’s definitely back to her old self!”
When she went in the bathroom, which was attached to the main bedroom, she found it was empty. ‘Hmm….where is he?’ she wondered.
Just then, she heard someone knock on the door. “Umm….someone’s in here right now!” she said, thinking it was one of her guests.
“Oh, ok. Would you rather I come back later?” Teddy asked from the other side.
“Shut up,” she said, as she opened the door and pulled him in.

Mag, Gabe and Ben were all sitting on the couch in Jinny’s living room. Magda could only think about later that night, when Ben would be at Jinny’s apartment, and she and Gabe would have time alone.
“Magda!” Gabe half-shouted.
“Oh, sorry. I must have been day dreaming.”
“I’ve been trying to get your attention for a couple minutes now.”
“I said I was sorry…but what did you want?” Magda asked.
“Do you know where Jinny and Teddy went? Raina’s leaving, and I’m pretty sure she wanted to say goodbye.”
“I think I saw Jinny go into the bathroom. I’ll go check.” Magda said, getting up and walking towards the bathroom. Knocking on the door, there was no response, then…
“What?” was Jinny’s angry reply.
“Jin, Raina’s leaving. She wants you to say goodbye.”
“OK, we’ll be right out.” Jinny said, realizing her mistake as soon as she said it.
“What?” Magda said, laughing under her breath.
“I’ll be right out.”
“Oh, ok.”

After all the guests had gone, Jinny collapsed on the couch. Magda had decided she could take Ben home and get his trunks there and then bring him back. They were supposed to be back any minute.
Teddy walked into the living room, carrying a few cards and Kate’s gift.
“Wanna open these?” he asked.
“Sure. You can open the package from the Cap.”
“OK,” Teddy replied, ripping the wrapping from the object.
“What is it?” Jinny asked, too exhausted to look up.
“Coasters.” Teddy said, laughing.
“You’re kidding!” Jinny exclaimed, “I really can’t wait to tell Mag about this one!”
“Oh my God. This is too funny.” Teddy said, stretching.
“Yeah it is. You know what?” Jinny asked.
“Huh?”
“Just this…” Jinny said, leaning over on top of him, starting to kiss him. He had no objections, and he moved his hands to her back, running them up and down her spine, sending chills down her back. Teddy started to rise, then went back down, on top of Jinny. She started unbuttoning his shirt, and unbuckling his belt. His shirt was hanging open and hers was off when the doorbell rang.
“Damn it!” Jinny said.
“I’ll get it.” Teddy said. “Go change into your swimsuit, because you did promise Ben you’d take him swimming.”
“God,” Jinny muttered. “I’m never having children.”
“Not if I have anything to say about it!” Teddy exclaimed, opening the door as Jinny shut hers.
“Hey guys! Ready to swim, Ben?” Teddy asked.
“Yep!” Ben said excitedly.
“Jinny’s in the bedroom getting changed,” Teddy said. “I think she has something to tell you, Mag.”
“Oh, I’ll go see…unless you think she’s in the bathroom again.” Magda said, winking at Teddy.
“Oh, just go!” Teddy exclaimed, turning his attention back to Ben.

Magda knocked on Jinny’s door.
”Jin?” Mag called out.
“Umm…come in.” Jinny said after a minute.
Magda walked in, seeing Jinny sitting on her bed in her black one-piece and shorts, staring blankly at the TV. Mag turned her attention to the television, which was on very low volume.
“Another kidnapping.” Jinny said in a low voice.
“Shh…listen.” Mag said.
“A twelve-year-old girl was taken from the outside of her home this morning. Breanne Stevens, shown here, was leaving her home to go to a friend’s house when someone grabbed her. Several neighbors reported hearing a fight when questioned by the police, but did nothing about it. We are all hopeful that this will turn out for the best, as there have been many kidnappings in the past few months, but in recent weeks, there have been many rescues. We will keep Breanne and her family in our prayers tonight.” the news reporter on the television said with a solemn look on her face, and Jinny clicked the TV off.
“Well…looks like we got our case cut out for us on Monday.” Jinny sighed.
“Yeah, I know. Jin, please keep a really close eye on Benjamin.” Mag said, very affected by the newscast.
“Mag, you know I’d kill the guy who tried to steal your son. Ben’s like my own kid! You know me better than that!”
“You’re right. Thanks, Jin. God, I don’t know. What else could possibly happen to all these poor children? I mean, what kind of world am I bringing this one,” she pointed to her stomach, “into?”
“You know what? You go and enjoy your night off, and trust me! I’ve got Ben under control. If you have anything to worry about it’s him getting down there before we get out of here!” Just as Jinny said that, she heard Teddy say extra loudly,
“I wonder what could be taking them so long? I know you want to go, Ben. Hold on.”
“Teddy, we’re coming!” Jinny and Magda yelled at the same time, smiling at each other.
“You really are lucky.” Mag said.
“So are you.” Jinny said, gesturing her hand towards Mag’s stomach.

Jinny told Teddy that they were going down to the pool after they grabbed some towels.
“You gonna come?” she asked, hopefully.
“Yeah, just let me change.”
“We’ll meet you down there, ok?” Jinny asked.
“Alright.” Teddy said, going to kiss her.
“Come on, guys. He’s gonna be down there in two minutes!” Ben cut in, smiling.
“Oh, be quiet, you!” Jinny said, grabbing him and tickling him.
“OK! OK! I give!” Ben said, out of breath.
“Alright, let’s go.” Jinny and Ben walked the few steps to the elevator and took it down to the ground floor.
“The pool’s this way, hon.” She said to Ben, who had started to wander off the other way. They walked through the lobby to the entrance of the indoor pool.
“Can’t we go to the outside one?” Ben whined.
“Well, why don’t we wait for Theodore, because he’s going to meet us here, ok? Besides, it’s almost eight o’clock, it’ll be dark soon!”
“I don’t care. I wanna go outside.”
“Fine.” Jinny said, thinking that this could be harder than it looked.

Magda walked in her apartment, still worrying about the kidnappings, when she saw what Gabe had done. There was a table in the middle of the living room, with candles on it. Gabe was in the kitchen, getting plates. Magda couldn’t smell any food, so she wondered what Gabe had in mind.
“Hey honey, I’m back.” Mag called out.
“Hey baby! You’re later than I expected!”
“Well, Jinny and I sat and watched this news broadcast about kidnapped kids.”
“Ah…I see.” Gabe said, knowing she was going to be worrying about it all night. “I can tell you’re worried about Benjamin. Don’t be, you know Jinny. She’s very reliable.”
“I know, but..” Mag started.
“Shh…I have a romantic dinner planned for us tonight.”
“I see that, but you kind of forgot the food.” Magda said, smiling teasingly at her soon-to-be-husband.
“Ah, that’s what you think. I called Stefano’s, and they should be here any minute.” Gabe said, kissing Mag.
“Well, you’ve got this under control, I think.” Mag said, perfectly content with her life.

CD and Nate walked around by the ocean for awhile, just talking. They talked about everything, from CD’s ex-husband, Paul, to Nate’s little sister.
“So, CD, you gave me that letter you wrote to that advice columnist, but you never explained yourself. Care to?” he asked caringly.
“Nate, that was a part of my life that I don’t want to remember, but I was forced to through therapy. Paul had the idea that maybe if I saw a psychiatrist, I would forget about it, and our marriage would go along fine. It didn’t work like that. We ended up getting separated and eventually, divorced, because of my…rape.” She said, pausing before she said the last word.
Nate put his arms around her and held on to her as she told the story of how her mother’s boyfriends always felt that they had free reign over her, each in their own ways. The only one that had ever tried anything like that was the one that raped her. The others just saw her as a cook and live-in maid.
“That must have been awful for you.” Nate said, after CD paused for air.
“It really was. I didn’t see how bad it really was until a long time afterwards.”
“What do you mean? How could you not see that the rape was a bad thing?” Nate asked.
“No, not that.” CD said, still wiping away tears. “I knew that was horrible, but the other things. It was just a way of life. Making sure John’s pants were ironed, that Charlie’s wife didn’t know he was there, and most importantly, that the door to her bedroom be shut and closed tightly every night before I went to bed.” CD said with a chuckle.
“Whose rule was that?”
“Mine.” CD said, laughing. Even though Nate hadn’t made her laugh, just being with him made her want to.

As Jinny and Ben waited downstairs, Ben got antsy.
“I wanna go outside, now. Jinny, I don’t wanna wait for Teddy.” Benjamin said, starting to whine.
“Ok, come on then.” Jinny said, dragging Ben off, out of the lounge, out the door, and to a couple of chairs set up outside. As Jinny began to take off her clothes, she noticed two blondes sitting in lawn chairs by the pool, watching her with distaste.
“I hate people.” She muttered under her breath.
“What?” Benjamin asked.
“Nothing, honey. Go get in!” Jin said, forcing a smile.

Magda and Gabe were eating dinner and talking about their upcoming wedding.
“Gabe, I really can’t wait to get this over with. Not that I don’t look forward to the wedding, but my mother is driving me crazy!” Mag said, sighing.
“I know what you mean. I think we should just elope.” Gabe said, joking.
“Ha! I’d never hear the end of it!” Mag exclaimed.
“Just an idea. But I have more.”
“Oh really?”
“Oh yeah. But not really pertaining to our wedding. More like our future little family.”
‘Oh yeah…this.” Mag said, looking down at her belly that still didn’t show that she was pregnant.
“You can’t even tell you are, Magda.” Gabe said, worried.
“Gabe, I am two months pregnant.”
“Oh yeah? I thought it was more than that.”
“You’re really something, you know that?” Magda said, getting up, grabbing his hands and leading him to their bedroom.
“I wasn’t done!” Gabe exclaimed.
“You are now!” she said, closing the door.

Alright, here's more, but this is all that I have written. Up until now, I had completely forgotten I even had a fic going! lol So it might be awhile...

Ben and Jinny were already in the pool when Teddy came downstairs. He had a look of worry on his face.
“Hey, honey. What’s wrong?” Jinny asked, suddenly worried too.
“Nothing. I’ll tell you later.” Teddy said, and threw on a false smile for Ben. “Hey, buddy! I brought down some pool toys. They have a basketball hoop over there. You wanna go shoot some hoops?”
“Yeah!” Ben exclaimed, swimming towards the basketball hoop in the shallow end, with Jinny tagging alongside Teddy.
“Alright, what’s going on?” Jinny asked, impatiently.
“There was another kidnapping. This time, it was in San Francisco. Jin, it’s getting closer and closer to home. I don’t think I want to follow my mom’s advice and start having kids.” Teddy said worriedly.
“Teddy, don’t worry about it. Tomorrow, I’ll go into work, and we’re gonna find these guys.”
“Jin, the police in Las Vegas, where the last kidnapping was, said that they think it’s the same people doing all of these on the West Coast. This guy’s good.”
“Yeah, well, not as good as me! Now, come on, let’s go play basketball. I’ll whoop your butt!” Jinny exclaimed as she swam off, with Teddy chasing after her.

Later, after Ben had gone home, and everything had settled down, Teddy was in the shower, so Jinny turned on the TV again. She didn’t know why, but the sudden increase of kidnappings got to her. Since no new discoveries had been found, she switched the TV off and picked up a book. Reading, she couldn’t keep her mind on the story. “Geez, if this is what my life is coming to…” Jinny said aloud.
“Hey, Jin. What time is it?” Teddy called from the bathroom.
“10:30, why?” Jin yelled back.
“I don’t know. I’ve never been this tired!” Teddy said, turning off the shower. Jinny smiled and realized that she was tired too. ‘No wonder…’ she thought, ‘I haven’t had a full night’s sleep in quite awhile.’ Not that she minded where that time had been used.
Teddy, wrapped in a towel, came into the living room.
“You read?” he asked incredulously.
Jinny looked down at the open book in her lap. Chuckling, she said, “Oh yes. Didn’t you know that?”
“Hmm…you don’t strike me as a big reader.”
“Yeah, well. I’ve changed, I guess.” She shrugged, rising from her spot on the couch.
“Where are you going?”
“The other room…why? Stalking me, now, are you, Theodore?” Jinny asked, laughing.
“Ooh yes. I was just making sure you weren’t going out to find that kidnapper personally.” Teddy said, with a look of concern.
“I’d like to. Guess I’ll have to wait ‘til tomorrow. I’m sure the Cap’s got plenty of fun stuff for us.” Jinny said, rolling her eyes.

“Good night, Papi.” Magda said to her son, bending over and kissing his forehead.
“’Night, Mom. ‘Night, Dad.”
“Good night, Son.” Gabe said, looking down at his son with pride in his eyes.
Magda and Gabe left the room, closing the door until there was a small stream of light in their son’s room.
“Do you know how lucky we are?” Magda asked.
“I think I do. We have a wonderful son, a baby on the way, a nice home, a wedding to plan…”
“OK! I get it!” Mag exclaimed laughing.
“And, to top it all off, I have you now.”

Jinny sat on the edge of the bed, setting the alarm clock on the bedside table.
“Teddy, what time do you have to wake up tomorrow?” Jinny called out to Teddy, who was in the bathroom.
“Probably 7:00.” Teddy said, coming out of the bathroom. “I have to get to work early. I have so much work to do! I haven’t really realized until now how tired I am. This weekend has taken a lot out of me!”
“Yeah, I know how you feel. I’ve never been this tired.”
Teddy gave her a look.
“OK, maybe a couple of times, but that was just after…well, you know. And I try to forget that part of my life.” Jinny said, smiling.
“Will that really be too hard?” Teddy asked, seriously.
“No, now I have something to take my mind off of it.”
“And what would that be?” Teddy asked slyly.
“Take a wild guess.”
Jinny rose and gave him a kiss, then went into the bathroom to brush her teeth.
“So, do you have a busy day tomorrow?” Teddy asked, with his head turned away from the bathroom.
“Mmhmm…” Jinny said, with her toothbrush sticking out of her mouth.
Teddy laughed. “Sorry.”

When the alarm clock went off the next morning, Jinny opened her eyes slowly, looking irritated. She reached over to feel for Teddy, but there was no one there.
“Teddy?” She called out.
“Yeah?” Teddy yelled from the kitchen.
“Ugh,” she groaned, rising from bed and stumbling over her own feet.
“Good morning!” Teddy came in from the kitchen. “How did you sleep?”
“Good, I’d like more of it, though.” Jinny said.
“Yeah, I know. I gave you an extra 15 minutes. You don’t have to be to work until 9 anyway, right?”
“Yep. Thanks.” Jinny said, still grumpy, walking past him into the bathroom.
“Hey, honey?” Teddy called through the closed door. “I left some scrambled eggs on the table for you, but I have to leave, ok?”
Jinny opened the door. “OK, thank you, Teddy. You know what a morning person I am.”
“Yes, and I love you anyway.” He said, leaning down and kissing her forehead.
“Have a good day. Do you want to meet for lunch?” she asked hopefully.
“Why don’t I call your cell later. I have no idea what my schedule is like today, except that it’s busy.”
“Alright. I’ll talk to you later.” She said, kissing him.
“Bye.”

On her way to the Division, Magda stopped to drop her son off at her mom’s house.
“Mom, I don’t want to go to Grandma’s. I want to stay home with Dad!” Ben complained.
“Sweetie, I’m really sorry. I know how bored you get there sometimes, but your dad has to work this morning. He has to set up for his performance tonight.” Magda explained.
“Don’t they have people to do that for him?” Ben asked.
“Oh, how would you know? You’re only 8, for heavens sakes!” Magda exclaimed, smiling. “Now, come on. I’m sure Grandma has something good for you to eat.”

When Magda got to the Division, she saw Jinny already sitting at her desk, and slowly typing on her computer.
“Hey, Jin. What’s up?” Mag asked, taking off her jacket and strewing it across the seat of her chair.
“Nothing. I hate this thing!” Jinny exclaimed, annoyed with the computer. “It doesn’t like me either, I can tell.”
“Oh, yes, Jin. Computer emotions, they get me too.”
“Oh hush.” Jinny said, turning to face her friend. “So, how was your little night last night?”
“Hmm…” Magda said, grinning and turning away from Jinny. “Wouldn’t you like to know?”
“Eww! You’re kidding. You didn’t do that, did you?” Jinny said, a tone of mock horror in her voice.
“Oh, like you haven’t done it before.” Mag said sarcastically.
“Just a few times. Did Benjamin say anything about his fun and exciting swimming expedition?”
“Not last night, he was conked out before we got home. Gabe had to carry him upstairs. And this morning he was too busy complaining about going to my mom’s house.” Mag said.
“Why does he have to go there this morning? Can’t Gabe watch him?” Jinny asked.
“Not today. He had to set up for his performance tonight.”

Kate McCafferty had watched the news the night before to get a feel for the case that she knew her division was going to be assigned, so she knew the basic stats about the little girl who’d been kidnapped. Now, she just had to figure out who was going to do what.
“Let’s see…” she said aloud, even though she was alone in her office. “Jinny and Magda can question the family and friends. CD and Nate can talk to the suspects, and Raina can be the go-between. Hey, it works.” She muttered, proud of herself for figuring it out so quickly.
“Hey, Cap?” Raina came into her office without knocking.
“Yeah.” Kate said, still looking over a file.
“Can I work on the streets today? Please? I know that I can do a good job, and I’m an inspector now.” Raina begged.
“Sure. I’ll put you with CD and Nate.”
“Oh, thank you so much, Cap. I hate this desk work crap.” Raina complained smiling.
“Yeah, I understand.” Cap said. “Is that all?”
“Yep.” Raina said, and left.

The Cap came out of her office to give out assignments.
“Alright, you guys. Listen up. You’ve all heard about the kidnapping, and even though we’re homicide, we got assigned to this one.”
There was a collective groan, because it meant that the cops in charge of handing out assignments thought that the little girl hadn’t made it.
“Jinny and Magda, you guys are going to question the family and friends of Breanne. So far, the only information they’ve given us is that she wouldn’t have gone with anyone unless she knew them.” Kate said, and turned to face CD and Nate. “CD and Nate, Raina is working with you guys today. You all are going to talk to the suspects. So far, there are three, but we want you to bring them in anyway. We need to find this little girl, fast. So get to work.” Kate said, and walked back into her office to make some phone calls.

CD and Nate shared a look that plainly showed their obvious dislike for not being by themselves.
“OK, guys. Where to first?” Raina came up to them, smiling.
“Umm, we don’t know. You have the file.” Nate said.
“Oh, yeah. Well, how about we go and talk to Howard Dubrin. He’s a friend of the parents, but he’s got a rap sheet a mile long,” Raina said to the partners.
“What all has he done?” CD asked.
“He was locked up for five years for armed robbery, then another 2 for drug possession.”
“Where does he live?” Nate asked.
“1223 Westside. I don’t know where that is, do you?” Raina asked, reading from the file.
“Yeah, I lived around there for awhile when I was a kid.” Nate said.
“OK, then lets go.” CD said.

Jinny and Magda were on their way to talk to Breanne Steven’s parents about their whereabouts the night she disappeared, when Teddy came out of the building.
“Jinny, I figured this would be easier than remembering to call you. I can meet you for lunch at 12:15 at the Anchorside. Is that ok?” Teddy asked.
“Mag?” Jin turned to Magda, hopefully.
“As far as I know, we should be done with the questioning by about 11:30.” Mag said smiling and walking away.
“Thought she’d never leave.” Jinny said, before kissing Teddy. She had planned it to be a quick little kiss, but he pulled her in for a long one. Her hands came up the back of his neck and they stood there for a good couple of minutes before pulling away.
“Wow…did you miss me that much?” Jinny asked.
“You have no idea.” Teddy said, kissing her once more. “I’ll see you at lunch, ok?”
“Yep. See you then.”
“I love you, Jin.” Teddy said.
“I love you too.” Jinny said looking around to make sure that no one had seen this little exchange.
As she walked to her car, Magda gave her a look.
“Don’t even say anything.” Jinny warned.
“I wasn’t going to.” Magda said, grinning.

CD, Nate and Raina arrived at the house of the first suspect, Howard Dubrin.
“So, what are the stats on this guy again?” Nate asked.
“Armed robbery, illegal drug possession, he’s 45 years old and he’s lived in San Francisco all his life.” Raina said.
“Married? Kids?” CD asked.
“Married once, divorced. No kids came out of that,” Raina answered.
“We’ll talk to the ex-wife. See what she can tell us about him,” Nate said. “but for now, we have to get to this guy.”
They walked up the sidewalk leading to the small, gray, un-kept house. CD knocked on the door, then rang the doorbell. There was no answer, so she motioned for Nate over to the side of the house.
“If he’s in there, and knows we’re cops, he’s not going to answer that door.” She said.
“Yeah, I thought of that. But that’s just making him look worse. He should know that by now.” Nate said.
“Maybe we should walk around the house, make sure he’s not home.”
So, CD and Nate walked around, looking in all of the windows. When they got to the detached garage, they noticed that his car was gone.
“He could just be out.” CD observed.
“Yeah, I’m sure that’s it.” Nate said, rolling his eyes.
Just then, Raina came around the corner of the house. “You guys, I just called the Cap. She said that we can’t get a warrant yet, because there’s nothing here that’s substantial enough to use to get one.”
“Yeah, we coulda told you that.” Nate said.

Magda and Jinny walked to walkway to the mansion-like house that belonged to Breanne Stevens’ family.
“Wow…” Magda said breathlessly.
“So, we know it’s gotta be someone who knows this family’s got money.” Jinny said.
“No kidding. This place is like the White House!”
Magda walked up to the door and knocked several times before the door was opened by a well-dressed butler.
“Mr. and Mrs. Stevens have been expecting you.” He stated, as if the two inspectors were late.
“Oh, well, we just have to ask them a few questions concerning the disappearance of their daughter. Maybe we could talk to you a little later, on our way out?” Jinny asked, looking for more witnesses.
“I’m afraid that would be quite impossible,” he said, sticking his nose even farther up in the air. “Now, please follow me.”
As soon as he had turned around, Jinny gave Mag a look that clearly said, ‘What a freak.’ When they got to the library, which is that Jinny assumed it was, considering there were shelves upon shelves of books, they met a handsome couple in their mid-forties. They stood as Jinny and Magda entered the room.
“Hello. I’m Richard Stevens and this is my wife, Samantha.” He said, with a worried look on his face.
“I’m Inspector Exstead, and this is my partner, Inspector Ramirez.” Jinny said.
“I’m so sorry that we’re not the most sociable couple right now, but you do understand.” Samantha said.
“Mrs. Stevens, I’m so sorry for your loss, but we haven’t lost hope. Apparently, whoever kidnapped your daughter left us quite a few clues to catch him or her. We have our hearts set on this, believe me, but we just need to ask you a few questions.” Magda said, feeling sorry for the parents of the little kidnapped girl.
“Certainly,” Mrs. Stevens said. “We’ll be glad to have our little girl back.”
“OK, first of all. Do you have any enemies that would want to hurt you in any way?” Jinny asked, wanting to get the interview done and over with.
“Not that I can think of.” Mr. Stevens said, recollecting on the past few weeks.
“No, no one’s ever tried to harm us, or our family, before.” Samantha said.
“Mr. Stevens, what do you do?” Jinny asked.
“I’m a defense lawyer for J Jacobs and Company.”
“Any cases that you lost and your client had to be imprisoned?” Magda asked.
“Not lately. Why don’t I give you my firm’s records? It’d be so much easier.” He said, gaining his lawyer attitude quickly.
The wife put on a forced smile. “Honey,” she said. “Why don’t we just leave this alone right now. Your blood pressure isn't doing so well, and on top of that dreadful kidnapping, we don’t need to bring up old business.”
Jinny stood. “Ma’am, what are you talking about?”
“There was a reason I just said what I did. I don’t want to have to deal with another one of my husband’s awful heart attacks.” Mrs. Stevens said.
“Oh, I’m so sorry. I thought you wanted your daughter back.” Jinny said sarcastically.

Later, Jinny and Magda were walking down to the main floor, ready for lunch after an extremely long morning.
“The wife’s hiding something.” Jinny stated.
“I know. Why else would she be so adamant about her husband’s health issues. I bet that if we looked, we’d find something in those files. Want me to call in and see if I can get a warrant?” Magda asked.
“Sure. Meanwhile, I have to get down there to Teddy. I was supposed to be there 15 minutes ago. He’ll think I left him.” Jinny called behind her shoulder and she walked out of the elevator, leaving Magda alone.
As Jinny walked into The Anchorside, she was filled with memories, as she always was when she came into a bar of any kind. This had always been her favorite place to drink, because she had come there with her fellow detectives and they all drank up. She hadn’t felt out of the group then. Now, when someone accidentally brought up going out for drinks after dinner, she felt a pang of what she used to be like. She realized that she was standing by the bar, ready to sit on one of the stools placed there. ‘Probably out of habit.’ She decided in her mind. ‘I can’t do this.’ She thought again.

Teddy walked into the Anchorside, worried that Jinny was angry at him for being late. He looked around the room at all of the tables, looking especially at her favorite booth. ‘Now I don’t feel so bad.’ He thought, ‘I should have known shed be late too.’
Just then, he looked over at the bar, in time to see Jinny grab something and drink it. “Oh my God.” Teddy murmured.

Magda called the Captain over and over again on her cell phone until she finally got an answer.
”Cap. It’s Magda. I need to know if Jinny and I can get a search warrant for Mr. Stevens’ law firm.”
“I’ll see what I can do. I’m not making any promises.” The older woman said.
As Magda hung up her phone, she realized that she didn’t have any plans for lunch. She decided to just go home and make something there. She was so tired of eating at restaurants and fast food places she just wanted to go home and cook. ‘Uh oh. That’s a bad sign.’ She thought, remembering being pregnant with Ben and wanting to go home and sleep, 24 hours a day. ‘No, I didn’t say I was tired. Just wanted to cook.’ She thought, laughing at her stupid argument inside of her own head.
When she walked into her house, the phone was ringing. “Hello?” she said.
“Oh, Mag. I was just going to leave a message. I didn’t expect you to be home. What are you doing home? Are you sick? Are you ok?” Gabe asked, sounding appropriately worried.
Magda smiled to herself, realizing how lucky she really was, “Honey, I’m just home for lunch, and maybe a little nap.” She said, noticing how tired she was.

Jinny walked over to Teddy, with a mug of soda in her hand. “Hey, sweetie. I see you’re late too.”
“Yeah, I am. I thought…well…never mind. Why don’t we go sit down?” Teddy said.
“OK…” Jinny said, with a confused look cast in Teddy’s direction. “What’s with you?”
“Nothing, why?” Teddy asked, trying to decide whether or not to tell her that he thought she’d been drinking.
“You seem all bent out of shape about something.” Jinny said, hoping that he hadn’t seen her pondering whether or not to drink.
“Nope…so, how’s your day been so far?” Teddy asked, leaning back to listen to Jinny tell about the parents of the girl who was kidnapped.
“Jin, you’re kidding, that’s awful! Maybe the mother’s secret isn't so big. Just wait and see. But, in the meantime, I have to get to a meeting with the head of the company. Fun stuff, huh?” he said when she was finished with her story.
“Oh yes. Have tons of fun. Remember where you’re going after work tonight!” she said, smiling up at him, as they both stood up.
“Jinny, I really do love you.” He said, leaning down for a kiss.
After she’d kissed him, said good bye, then thought of all the other guys that she’d kissed there before. None of them was anything like Teddy. Not even close. None of them had made her feel the way she did when he kissed her.

Magda woke up from her little noontime nap just as Jinny was finishing her story to Teddy. Magda stretched and washed her face, then reapplied her makeup. All of this took only about 10 minutes, so she was back at the division only about 10 minutes after Jinny was back. Magda saw her partner and best friend sitting in her chair, chewing on a pen in concentration.
“Jin, you just got back from lunch. Please tell me you’re not hungry!” Magda said, smiling.
Jinny laughed. “Come on, I want to go see those records.” She said, grabbing her leather jacket off the back of her chair.
Just as she was about to open the door leading to the main hallway, she saw Mrs. Stevens getting out of the elevator.
“Great,” she murmured. “Mag, we’re not going anywhere. Mrs. Stevens is back.”

Samantha Stevens walked in, practically looking over her shoulder the whole time, and of course, Jinny and Magda noticed it immediately.
“Wonder what she’s hiding.” Jinny murmured in Mag’s direction, then she faced Samantha. “What can we do for you, Mrs. Stevens?”
“Please call me Samantha. Is there somewhere we can talk?” the woman asked, glancing over her shoulder.
“Sure, follow me.” The curly-haired woman said, walking towards and interrogation room, Jinny and the nervous Mrs. Stevens following.

CD and Nate exchanged an “I’m so bored” look as Raina sat in the backseat, blabbering on about something Dom had said. Finally, as Raina paused to take a breath, CD cut in, saying something about stopping to use the bathroom.
“I gotta go too.” Nate said, thanking God silently that they could stop soon. “Where are we going, again?”
“Back to the division to look for more information on this Dubrin guy.” CD answered.
“Good thinking,” Raina said as CD rolled her eyes.
“CD, are you gonna stop or not? I gotta pee.” Nate said.
“Oh, come one, big strong man. You can’t hold it for a little while?” CD asked, grinning.
“Hey, I thought you had to go!” Nate protested.
“Oh yeah…” CD said, lost in thought.
“CD, you with us? We were talking about pee and you got left behind.” Nate said, laughing.
Raina was cracking up in the backseat, not knowing that CD had wanted to stop for a little alone time with Nate.
