View Full Version : Freddie Show Update
Laz77 04-30-2002, 12:54 PM Hi all! I just wanted to check in and see whats happenin with you guys.
The show has been going great! Although we haven't gotton the audience we've wished from week to week it is slowly picking up with more and more heads each week. A famous comic George Wallace actually showed up on week 3 and he really enjoyed the show. He had another show to go to right after my show so I didn't get to meet him personally but he did leave his friend from Kiss Fm behind (Radio station in NY) Who said that George really enjoyed the show and that he had the good fortune of knowing Freddie back when they were both comics starting out. He said that George was touched by the performance and it reminded him of the good ol days of comedy. That was an honor for me, to have someone recognize what we are trying to do for comedy, for Freddie.
I'm also happy to say that this show has been educational for people who didn't know Freddie and are now just learning of his greatness. To be able to turn people on to Freddie and his great comedy has changed my life in many ways.
I am now turned onto stand-up comedy and thru Freddie's help (because to me he is alive and well) I am becomming a stand-up comic and have actually become a regular at the NY comedy club & other smaller venues doing my own material. Being young and hispanic actor/comedian Freddie has become my inspiration. I have always looked up to people like Jackie Gleason (the Honeymooners) Richard Pryor, Robin Williams but for some reason could never find my niche to do comedy (so I studied acting) Now my journey has led me to Freddie and now I am rediscovering myself.
But the work isn't done yet. I am still working on the act, studying CATM tapes, and trying to learn more about Freddie - the learning never stops. So thanks to all of you who continue to posts threads providing the world with more pictures and keeping Freddie alive.
Before I forget - a friend of mine at work said she spotted Freddie on Tv last week. He did a spot on the Carol Burnett show - I don't know if any of you caught it. It was a tribute to Carol Burnett.
Loookin Gooood!
LaZ
Sounds like you`re going to go far Laz., I`m so glad your show is introducing Freddie to people who don`t know him. Maybe they`ll want to see CATM, and start e-mailing Nick at Nite,or TVland to get it back on. Good luck with your career.
Pitooey 04-30-2002, 03:54 PM Good Luck to you Laz.......... and continue coming here for tips on Freddie. I am posting some of his TV shows from Chico and the man so come every now and then for a perspective of him.
Cheryl Harrell 04-30-2002, 04:09 PM Congrats with the show & your comic career. Freddie is smiling down from heaven & pleased... :)
MariposaLKB 04-30-2002, 04:18 PM  Do you think there is any chance that you might be able to post a picture of yourself in character on this board? :D
Luckymama58 04-30-2002, 05:08 PM Hi Laz,
I am so glad to hear the show is going so well. I keep praying that the audience will fill up more and more as word gets out what a wonderful show it is. Every time you write, either on this board, or in an e-mail to me, I get very excited to see the show. I know you and the other actors have put a lot of hard work into the production.
I am also glad to hear your stand-up career is taking off. I know Freddie is smiling down on you and lending his support as you assume your place in this career. I know if he were here in the flesh he would definitely be taking you under his wing as a mentor. I am glad that everything that you are able to study about him has helped in a mentoring way, even though he could not be here to do it in person. I am sure he is doing it in spirit!
I know we still have 3 weeks to wait till we see you in person doing your best to do Freddie's memory justice, but I want to second Mariposa's request for a sneek peek. The suspense is killing us! :D Pretty please??!?!?!?! :D
Yours,
Luckymama(Marie)

Karen64 05-08-2002, 09:17 PM Cool! That's a great pic!! :)
I would LOVE to go see that show, but right now, it's next to impossible for me! :(
MariposaLKB 05-09-2002, 02:05 PM Laz, I must say you have the perfect grin and the mustache is just right! There is one thing I would like to know, though--of course, you didn't have time to grow your hair as long as Freddie's was, but do you wear a wig in the show? The others in the picture didn't look like they were in character, so I assume you were not either?
No matter what, now that I have seen that picture, I am sooo much more excited to come and see the show, you can't imagine! See ya soon!
Lori
Cheryl Harrell 05-09-2002, 04:54 PM Wow it is so neat to see what Laz looks like. I too am curious to know if he wears a wig. Freddies hair wasn't that long anyway so Laz's may be grown out soon too. :) Good luck with the show! We are rooting for ya! Loooking Goood! :)
Pitooey 05-09-2002, 08:08 PM WoW The picture looks great....................... Laz is that a wig?
Cheryl Harrell 05-10-2002, 06:44 AM Here is a page with a picture of Laz on it:
http://www.livetheatregang.com/lazaro_viciedo.htm
I took this pic of Laz off this site & turned it into a pic of him looking like Freddie! :) This way you can see how he'd look if he were to dress like Freddie & wear his hair like him. To do this I had to take his face & stick it on a pic of Freddie. And I stuck Freddies mustache on him too! If it didn't turn out so great my apologies but here goes! Enjoy! :)
Laz77 05-10-2002, 04:17 PM Hi all,
To answer your question, yes I wear a wig. I didn't have time to grow my hair out even though it grows faster than light !
I'm sure they will post more pictures of us in character on the site soon. I asked them to put some up so I hope they will. If not - I'll try and get copies and scan them myself.
Thank you all for your messages :) They mean alot.
HAPPY MOTHERS DAY TO ALL YOU LOVELY MOTHERS!!!
P.S. Can't wait to see you guys on the 19th :)

LaZ
Laz77 05-10-2002, 04:25 PM I'm all in a hurry and just in case my last post didn't make sense...I do wear a wig but not in that pic that you guys saw on the site - I didn't have it on :)
Cheryl - that pic you made of me with Freddie body is a trip - lol - thankx
P.S. Pic as complete Freddie comming soon.
LUV YA!!
Cheryl Harrell 05-10-2002, 04:38 PM We can't wait to see the pics of you as Freddie! :)
MariposaLKB 05-10-2002, 04:49 PM Laz, thanx for the Mother's Day wishes! I have two daughters, and the older one is hanging over my shoulder right now insisting that I mention that! LOL!
So glad to hear that you are wearing a wig in the show! Freddie without the long hair just wouldn't be the same! The more I hear about this show, the more excited I am getting! Can't wait til the 19th!!! :D
Luckymama58 05-12-2002, 02:38 PM Hi, Laz
I love the picture and I am getting so excited to see you on the 19th. Mariposa and I hope to get to chat afterwards and I hope we can take pictures for our friends here on the board! I hope your other friends in the show won't mind a couple of fanatic Freddie fans in the audience! :p We promise to behave (fingers crossed behind our backs!)
Thank you so much for the Mother's Day wishes!
Marie
Cheryl Harrell 05-13-2002, 01:45 AM Behave? Not if Freddie has anything to do with it! ;) Enjoy the show! We can't wait to see the pics! Here's a tip: If a concert place doesn't like you taking pics of the show just sneak & take 'em without flash. Works for me most of the time! Someone ought to videotape the show! :) Have a good trip! Give Laz our best wishes for a great show! :)
Pitooey 05-13-2002, 10:48 AM Thanks to Laz........ Hopefully I'll be meeting Luckymama and Mariposa!!!
I'm going to the show to meet Lucky, Butterfly and Laz. I wish I can meet all my friends at the Freddie board. I'll be taking my camera too. :) :) :)
Laz77 05-13-2002, 11:41 AM Hey thats great JennyLee! The Freddie fans are gonna take over that place - lol ALLLLRIIIGHT!!
If you are comming then you'll want to make a reservation either online www.livetheatregang.com or by calling (212) 946-1244 Just give your name, number of tickets and show date.
Email me twice2000@yahoo.com if you need more info.
The show went great yesterday. We have 2 more shows to do offically but we are working on getting booked in other venues around the Tri-state area - so pray for us.
These past few weeks have been strange and exciting. All of a sudden all these shows have been popping up with Freddie in them. Like the NBC 75th anniversery special, The Carol Burnett special, and the E true Hollywood Story. There was even a special on Comedians of Color on NBC last Saturday (it didn't mention Freddie) But it did mention every single comedian on our show and in some cases exact lines from our show.
People are calling me with "Freddie Sightings", the other day I got 5 phone calls about the E True Hollywood story. Maybe its because I'm doing this show and so now I am paying attention or it may be some unknown force but "Freddie Fever" is starting to grip everyone around me and people want to know more and more about this young man and his talent.
Lets hope we can continue to spread the word and maybe even bring back Chico and the Man - I think its well past time they put it on Tv and Video and DVD. I think Freddie deserves a star on Hollywood walkway as well - after all he did inspire many great actors/comedians even radio personalities of today.
How to do all this? By just turning more and more people onto Freddie. We cannot let Hollywood hide him anymore. It all starts here with us.
Love Ya All
LaZ
Pitooey 05-13-2002, 01:14 PM Well Laz I made my reservation. My hubby will be coming with me too. I'm going to spread the news to some of my friends. I am seeing an emergence on Freddie too. All my friends want to know about him. He's coming back in a big way!!! I can't wait to see you...............
Cheryl Harrell 05-13-2002, 02:14 PM Freddie would be so proud of you keeping his name alive! That's great that Jenny Lee gets to go to the show too! Can I be a little envious? :) I'd love to go but NYC is too far from VA. MAybe they can bring the show to VA esp Richmond. Hint, Hint....
"ALLLLRIIIGHT!!" Freddie used to say that! :) I bet he is looking down on Laz & smiling. I am so glad someone wants to keep his name alive. :) :)
What was on him on the Carol Burnette reunion? I missed that one & had no idea he was on her show.
I pray he is never forgotten the way he was after the hype on his death ended...
Danisel331 05-14-2002, 03:29 AM Hi!
I'm just going to inch my little way in here because you brought up the topic of getting Freddie a star. It's a great idea! I may be able to help a little there. On the Selena board, someone started a petition on petitionsonline.com to get her a star. We've gotten over 10,000 signatures and it's very close to be sent to the committee. I can try to find exactly what has to be done, if you're really interested. Just let me know!
tylersmistress2002 05-14-2002, 09:00 AM I'm soooo jealous!!! I wish I could see the show. It sounds like great fun. I hope you all enjoy it. Laz, thanks for sharing your experiences. Best wishes for your continued success...... and I am sure we all hope you are able to book more shows... and keep Freddie's memory alive.
Pitooey 05-14-2002, 09:54 AM I would love for Freddie to get a star **** on Hollywood's walk of fame......
He deserves it. & I can just picture Fred Jr. accepting it for him. Let's bring on the petition........
tylersmistress2002 05-14-2002, 01:18 PM Jennylee...that is a great idea..... is someone starts a petition I will be there.... and get as many friends as I can to help...
Cheryl Harrell 05-14-2002, 04:06 PM I so want to see him get a star on the walk of fame. He deserves it... :) Good luck in getting this done...
