FOX's hit show Gotham (https://www.yahoo.com/tv/gotham-back-were-liveblogging-003156789.html) is a tricky thing. The Batman adaptation/prequel has garnered a ton of attention from comic book fans for both bringing exciting new characters to the screen, as well as not giving a crap about keeping things within the DC canon. And while some TV goers have praised Gotham for being a largely original story, many die hard DC fans have been anxious for the introduction of a full fledged Batman (https://www.yahoo.com/news/m/c837e429-a873-3610-aff4-ca9f6939f707/batman%3A-5-actors-who-were.html), Joker, Harley Quinn, and all of the other favorites. However, one Gotham actor doesn't think Batman is at all necessary. And he's playing the man in question David Mazouz plays Bruce Wayne on Gotham, and recently opened up to Collider as to why the series doesn't need Batman at all...

Gotham really shouldn't exist; it completely negates the flow of events in the bat-universe. I actually refuse to watch it, because almost none of the villains featured should be around before Batman is, well, Batman. The presence of Batman in the streets of Gotham actually instigates the crime world to become more... colorful, theatrical... in response. This was one of the things the Nolan films got right, and they called it "escalation." Maybe they're doing it in such a way that it somehow doesn't matter, but I'd be surprised that they could pull it off.

Finally, there's no way that this kid should ever become Batman in this show unless it lasts 10 + more years. The actor is only 15 right now (I think the character is actually younger), and I for one don't want a Batman younger than 25. Plus... that's a lot of pressure to put on that kid to start filling out and becoming more physically "Batman-like" by the time he reaches his early 20s.
