VEI Magician all-in-one (that 1973-74 NBC detective series w/the late Bill Bixby)

Finally, I have decided to purchase the second half of the Girl From U.N.C.L.E. It drop from $47 to now $27! I purchase the first half at $49 three or four years ago! LOL! It hard to resist see Stefanie Powers at 23 years old being April Dancer! Pure eye candy and the plot and dialog is so chessy too! April dancer never is involved in anything physical or involve in killing someone. April primary weapon is her sex appeal!

I think that is the main reason that it only lasted one season; the way April Dancer was portrayed by NBC executives. Most of the ladies took offense and many of the other viewers viewed it with their family or spouse at April Dancers secret agent personality. The producers wanted to make it a more action female oriented show but the failure of Honey West, NBC executives insist on making April Dancer more of a woman being rescued and using female charms to overcome male physical strength. It not until Wonder Woman that females beat up males became acceptable for both genders on TV.

Stephanie Powers thought when she sign on to the role that it would be more of a physical role but the role changed to that of a seductive type secret agent!

I purchased two things today, I ordered season 2 of The Monkees, the Eagle Rock release. I also looked for season 1 but none were for sale, seems like the season 1 release from Eagle Rock is getting difficult to find.

I also ordered the Ellery Queen series with Jim Hutton, this is now out of print but I found a nice looking used set and the price was good so I bought it.

did you get the orignal the jetsons on blu ray or dvd? they had were you can get the jetson's the complete Anmited tv series on blu ray!! & its only $23 bucks!!

If you enjoy other 1970's detective series like Cannon, Streets Of San Francisco, and Harry O, then Bronk is right up your alley. It's pretty much your typical 1970's detective show, good writing, decent acting, interesting stories. Bronk ran for only one season but I'm glad Warner Archive released it on DVD.

I don't have Longstreet or Dan August so I can't say if the episodes are uncut or not. On the Bronk DVD set, I haven't watched all the episodes yet but those I have viewed have a run time of 50 minutes and appear to be uncut.

You're welcome. From comments I've read from posters over at Home Theater Forum, it sounds like the Dan August's are uncut but the episodes are speeded up/time compressed. I haven't read any comments about Longstreet.

Dan August and Longstreet were released by VEI. I have two DVD sets from VEI, I have the complete series DVD's of Cannon and Petrocelli. Both sets are good, episodes are uncut and not time compressed.

Bronk was released by Warner Archive, they are usually pretty good with their TV show releases, I have several of them and they all have uncut episodes with no time compression issues.
