See topic. I'm just curious. I watch it on Nick at Nite all the time, but I've never heard what it stands for. Could someone help me on this? Thanx in advance.

They never clarified what the "P" stands for. It wil always be a mystery.

Yep. If you look at http://www.sitcomsonline.com/familyties.html under their trivia section, it says the "P" in Alex P. Keaton was never revealed during the series and it doesn't stand for anything.

actually, the "did you know?" section is incorrect. there was one episode where alex's name was written on something (i can't remember right now what it was or what episode it was in....) and it said "Alex Patrick Keaton." so the "P" does stand for something! at least, it did in one episode! ;)

Really? I always thought they never revealed it. Let me know if you figure out which episode it was.

i've been wracking my brain trying to think of what episode it was! now i'm like, "did i really see that or did i just think i did?" lol i'm like 99% sure that i saw it though. i'm thinking maybe it was like on his diploma or something from one of the episodes where he graduated from high school or college? ugh! i can't remember! lol

Actually, I think you will need a little more proof then that. Let us know when you find it! ;)

In Michael's new book he stated that he ad-libbed the initial "P" during a scene while anwsering the phone. It's on page 81 for those interested.

The "P" could also stand for "Peace". Remember, in one episode, we could see younger Steven and Elyse who were saying that they were going to call the 1st son "Peace Keaton". Imagine: "Alex Peace Keaton": Pretty ironic!!!!!!

Progress is his middle name. Backies would get that joke. Seriously, though, in my stories - I say that his middle name is Patrick. Anyway, I kinda like the idea of him having the same middle name as Mike Flaherty.

As I was reading this post I noticed something Michael has the same type of name as Alex I mean Micheal's full name is Michael J. Fox and his Character is Alex P. Keaton, they both have just a letter for there middle name. So I have a question, what does the J in Michael J. Fox stand for? Hopefully this one will be easier to figure out.

His real name is Michael Andrew Fox. He picked the J for his middle initial from his favourite actor, Michael J Pollard. I have no idea what the J stood for in Michael J Pollard.

Thanks I always wondered what the J stood for. As for the P in Alex P Keaton I have no clue what that stands for

Maybe we're neveer meant to know what the P stands for. I think if it ever does get revealed, the show would jump the shark.

The P stands for Proctor, not Patrick, at least according to Wikipedia and other websites, and Jeopardy.

^ That's interesting. I have, admittedly, always wondered what the P stood for

The P doesn't stand for anything. Michael J. Fox added it during the taping of the pilot episode. They kept it in. So Alex Keaton became Alex P. Keaton.
