I noticed you appear to have the same last name as him: McGrath. Were you related to him? Just wondering how you found out so quickly.

He was my dad, though we lived in different parts of the country.

No, I didn't always agree with jjmcgr, specifically on EAR-A and a copycat EAR-B, but always appreciated the ton of effort and research he provided, specifically on that EAR-ONS case on the old A&E board and applied to his own site on that case. I tried to communicate that point to him once he started posting more frequently here recently, that he made a big difference. In fact, his EAR-ONS site is often referenced for material that can't be found anywhere else.

I'm glad he seemed to be active and upbeat until the end, or very close to the end. I remember him posting in many threads in recent weeks and months. I had no idea this was imminent.

Gad, very young, in fact younger than I would have guessed, based on the references he often made. But I see that he was a historian, so that explains it.

Quite an interesting biography. I'm impressed that he was working toward a doctorate.

This information should be posted on the EAR-ONS site on proboards. Many of the regular posters there migrated from the A&E forum on EAR-ONS and would be very familiar with your father's posts and contributions.

I always wondered about his user name. Now I see that it was based on his initials and last name.

I'm sorry for your loss, OP. Of course, that's always sad news but I'm glad to find out that two immediate family members (that aren't directly tied to the cases themselves) can co-exist well on this board.
