I'm just curious because some shows used the excuse where a character's sleeping bag zipper would get stuck and they would hilariously jump around.

Characters that honestly surprise me that they didn't get trapped in a sleeping bag:

Andy Travis (WKRP in Cincinnati): I mean, come on! Wouldn't a guy/girl camping trip be fun? Especially since something could have happened between Herb and Andy and Herb ended up giving Andy a faulty sleeping bag that has its zipper stuck and Andy could be the leader of the escapade and nobody can get him out but Herb.

Kirk (Newhart): Maybe there could have been an episode where Kirk sells sleeping bags on the side and one of his customers has a fear where the zipper might be stuck and asks Kirk to try it on and then the zipper turns out stuck and Dick just wants to leave him be.

Rob Petrie (The Dick Van Dyke Show): This is the one I am honestly MOST surprised about. With him being such a master at slapstick, why WASN'T there an episode where he got trapped in a sleeping bag and jumped around? He would have been great for it!

Kevin (Mr. Belvedere): I am a bit surprised about this one as well. There was one where Wesley and Mr. Belvedere went camping, and there was one where Kevin unrolled a sleeping bag and was going to sleep in it but didn't. There should have been an episode where they went camping and he got stuck in a sleeping bag.

Postie (Happy Days): Again, another one. Being the "nerd" that everyone likes to call him, a camping episode would be perfect where he got his zipper stuck on his sleeping bag.

Gopher (The Love Boat): An episode where maybe he got a sleeping bag at the gift shop or something and the zipper got stuck would be fun.

Bubba (Mama's Family): I would LOVE to have seen an episode where Bubba got trapped in a sleeping bag while camping.

Yeah!!! Orrin ( not Warren) was trying to score points with Uncle Joe on the camping trip! Uncle Joe didn't like Orrin too much or think he was good enough for his niece Bobbie Jo! :( Orrin zipped up his sleeping bag so Uncle Joe wouldn't get cold. Uncle Joe didn't know he was zipped in and he couldn't get out in the morning when he smelled the breakfast cooking!!!! :D

The only other sleeping back incidents I can think of are from horror films where people are killed in the bags. But that's a whole other thread.

OMG!!! That ep. was hilarious !!!!! Poor Mama getting stuck with the hammock!!:( I can't believe the other three would let an old woman sleep in a hammock!! Vint or Bubba should have traded with her!!!! ;)

That was so funny when Vint was saying to Mama " Goodnight, sleep tight , don't let the bed bugs bite "And Mama already getting annoyed, Vint keeps going "Cause if they do, than take your shoe and beat them till they're black and blue" !! Wondering if this ever happened to Garry Shandling.

It happens to Alice in another episode beside the one mentioned earlier in the thread. In The Brady Bunch episode where Greg wants his own room and moves into Mike's den, Alice and some of the kids are out back getting sleeping bags ready for a camping trip and Alice gets in then can't get the zipper undone and Greg helps her get out.

I'm pretty certain it never happened to Garry on It's Garry Shandling's Show, don't think it happened on Larry Sanders either, most of the episodes centered around the talk show on stage and back stage, don't recall them camping or doing anything involving camping equipment. That just doesn't seem like Shandling's style of humor.

It could've happened on Larry Sanders, I didn't watch that as devotedly as It's The Garry Sandling Show, granted it's been a while since I've watched either so maybe someone here has seen them more recently.

I'm 99.9% sure that this did not happen to Bubba on "Mama's Family". I've seen all the episodes MANY, MANY times and I don't recall this.

I know it never happened to Steve on Petticoat Junction or Kevin on Mr. Belvedere !!! Kevin did however have a "roll in the hay" in a barn with an Amish girl!!! That was kind of hot!!!!!

On The Donna Reed Show, Donna Stone is briefly shown stuck in a sleeping bag, and husband Alex mentions they will fix it (un-stick the zipper) in the morning. I think it was the episode in which the family drives an RV to Las Vegas, but I'm not certain.

There's a late episode of Petticoat Junction where Uncle Joe, Steve, and the girls go on a camping trip, along with Dr. Janet Craig & Orrin Pike. I think in that one, Uncle Joe gets stuck in his sleeping bag.

For the record, Bubba IS in a sleeping bag in "Bed and Breakdown". Looks very good in it, too.

On the Doris Day Show, season 1 episode 'The Camping Trip', the youngest son gets stuck inside his sleeping bag before they even leave the house. We don't see him walk/jump, but somehow he manages to get from his upstairs bedroom to outside to have his grandpa help him get out.
