View Full Version : Was this case ever solved?
1990 UM fan 03-08-2016, 11:56 AM Unsolved Mysteries ran the story of Ryan Heath and his sister Brianna Smith on 5/19/95. They were abducted by their mother Tyger Hoag and her husband Archie Hoag. It was believed that they were abducted because Tyger's oldest daughter Michelle Heath accused Archie of molesting her, and that they may have fled to Amsterdam in The Netherlands.
At time time of the broadcast, Tyger would have been 30 and Archie would have been 25. He had her name tattooed on his right wrist. Tyger also may have tinted red or orange in her blonde hair, and she was known to raise and sell Himalayan cats. She might use the name "Debra Anita Packard", "Debra Heath" and "Tyger Heath". Brianna Marie Smith was eight years old at the time of the broadcast and has blonde hair and blue eyes. Ryan Heath would have been thirteen at this time as well and is fond of baseball. It was also mentioned that the Hoags had a 3-year-old son who is in need of medical care for heart problems.
I can't find anything about them anywhere other than a small mention on Unsolved Mysteries Wiki.
1990 UM fan 03-18-2016, 12:52 PM I'm surprised that nobody commented on this. I can't find anything else on this case, and whether it was solved or not.

Nobody commented because there's nothing to say. There's nothing at all online about them. I don't remember seeing any updates or even the case itself for that matter. It may be one of the few I haven't seen.
SeekDaGreat 03-20-2016, 02:01 PM Never once seen.
1990 UM fan 03-22-2016, 02:18 AM It was on the same episode as the Taos Hum, Jordan family arson/murders and Robert Arcieri. Might not have been aired on Lifetime after Stack's death.
wiseguy182 03-22-2016, 03:07 AM It was on the same episode as the Taos Hum, Jordan family arson/murders and Robert Arcieri. Might not have been aired on Lifetime after Stack's death.
The Jordan family arson/murders originally aired on the 2-hour 6th season finale in May of 94. If it aired in 95, it was a repeat.
Amanda Malone 03-22-2016, 06:49 PM I remember this segment because it was one of the few that did not include a recreation. Robert Stack introduced the story, but local reporters covering the kidnapping interviewed Brianna Smith's father, Tyger's daugher Michelle, Tyger's mother, and an investigator working on the case. It aired on Lifetime and was part of the episode featuring the Taos Hum and Robert Arcieri; however, I stopped seeing it around 1999-2000. It was edited out of the episode and replaced with the segment about the Jordan family murders. I recall seeing a missing persons bulletin on this case as part of America's Most Wanted: America Fights Back around the same time and there was a brief update that said the children were located in Germany. I've searched but I haven't been able to find anything confirming what I remember seeing on AMW. Given that Lifetime stopped airing the case, I'm inclined to believe it was solved.
WishfulDreamer 03-22-2016, 09:58 PM I remember this case, and have seen no indication of an update anywhere.
They probably fled the country.
wiseguy182 04-26-2016, 12:53 AM I'll have to backtrack my previous comments, after just watching the case, I knew I had seen it before, I must have just gotten the names mixed up or something. And there is more to say:
I have no doubt Michelle Heath is telling the truth. She passed a lie detector test. What a sorry excuse for a human being Tyger Hoag is. She actually told her daughter that it didn't happen, and it if did, that it was her fault and she brought it on. How revolting! Even Tyger's own mother was sickened by that, and thankfully she was there for Michelle since Tyger was not. Archie is a creep as well. I hope they both got caught. I just hope Archie wasn't abusing his other children on the run.
I believe only the youngest child was Archie's, the rest are children of Tyger's ex-husband. It is a case of parental abduction as Tyger was the mother to all of them, and I use the term mother loosely.
ShalandaJones81 04-27-2016, 09:14 PM I was just thinking about this case too

Wow. Thanks for posting. I'm sure someone one here will likely have a copy of your segment.... between the entire crowd, we seem to have them all. :)

Amymarie 01-13-2017, 05:31 AM Breanna? If it's you email me amymckee3@gmail.com. I've tried looking for you on fb so many times.
UMFan123 11-04-2017, 03:20 PM Did they ever find Archie and Tyger and were they charged? Or are they still wanted?
And123 01-23-2019, 10:29 PM Does anyone have the segment on this case? Or a link to a website or YouTube video?
Thanks in advance,
Andrea
Labonte18 01-28-2019, 06:11 PM What's weird about this case.. You can find little to no info on it.
Let's assume the poster from 3 years ago was Breanna.. Which.. May be.. May not.. It is the internet after all.
The case has been removed from the Unsolved Mysteries Wiki.. I can't find any missing persons reports or anything on either of them. Even cases that are long solved, they stay up on the NCMEC website, unless they're requested to be removed.. Which seems to have happened here.
But not even a newspaper article?
Hmm... Something odd here.
This sounds like it turned into some kind of feud.
I can't even find any old newspaper articles about this in my newspapers.com subscription. And you can't remove something from the newspaper.
I would suspect that this case isn't on any of the streaming services? Can anyone confirm that? One of those things that smells like there were threats of lawsuits.

Agreed. I just came across the "editor's note" page on the Wiki. Bizarre.
And it is also missing from the re-edited episodes, not that means much.
