View Full Version : Has Anyone Here Read The New Andy & Don book? ILuvCarolBurnett 12-20-2015, 08:53 PM Wanted to know if it is worth the read. http://books.simonandschuster.com/Andy-and-Don/Daniel-de-Vise/9781476747736 SherryCarl 02-08-2016, 05:40 PM I am reading it right now. It tells a lot about their childhoods and how they got together on the Andy Griffith Show. I would say so far it is worth the read if you are a fan. Becca3557 02-08-2016, 07:14 PM Sounds like something I'd enjoy. The Andy Griffith Show is one of my all-time favorites. Thanks for the heads-up! SherryCarl 02-10-2016, 09:52 PM Your welcome. The Andy Griffith Show is my favorite. My Husband and I watch a few episodes everyday. I'm watching Bargain Day right now :) PracTz 02-13-2016, 05:10 PM I read it and thought it was legit take on both performers with as many facets re their work and personalities covered as one could expect without either of them having done a 'tell all'. I, especially, liked the parts dealing with Don Knotts and believe that a fascinating movie could be made just from his early life and background BEFORE he became Barney. Seriously, Not giving it away but the odds he'd had to overcome are incredible and one would more easily have predicted him becoming a derelict and dying much younger than he did considering. And I say this not just because of this one book but due to other sources confirming this including interviews with the late Mr. Knotts himself. Coffeecup 02-13-2016, 09:35 PM Yes I read the book late last fall. Interesting early life of Don. What was interested was how many time each was married. Also that Andy and Aneta were a couple ON and off the show. I do hope she laughed more in real life than she did on the show. Her character was so serious on the show. |
