View Full Version : 99 cent only store selling old calendars!!
Bonniegirl 12-18-2015, 01:58 PM I was at the 99 cent only store the other day and saw calendars for sale! All different designs and stuff. Really nice, not bad for a dollar! I bought one and right now I just was looking through it at the pictures, and happened to notice it is a 2015 calendar!!!! WTF!!! Why in the heck would they be selling 2015 calendars in the last month of that year????? I am fit to be tied! IDK if they all are? Or if somehow the old ones got mixed in with the 2016 ones? I guess I will take It back and see, and exchange it! If they are all old, than I will demand my dollar back! ;)

bmasters9 12-18-2015, 04:10 PM For those who don't know,99 cent only store is a big dollar store chain on the west coast. It's like Dollar tree only a lot bigger, and has a big produce section too!
So anyway, I was there yesterday and saw calendars for sale! All different designs and stuff. Really nice, not bad for a dollar! That disgusts me why this store would still be selling 2015 calendars when we are practically at the bottom of 2015. Hopefully it is nothing more than a simple mixup and there are 2016 calendars to be had.
OH Nuts! 12-18-2015, 04:22 PM Hopefully, it was just a screw-up on their part. I'd demand my money back too-hope they do the right thing and refund you.
gidgetgrape 12-18-2015, 04:22 PM I almost bought a 2015 planner a few days ago. :(

WOW!!! You too? I wonder how common this is? Stores selling calendars that are about to expire!!!
Bonniegirl 12-18-2015, 07:15 PM I'm hoping that the 99 cent store just made a mistake! Because like I said this store is a large chain, they do a really good business! They don't need to make an extra buck or two off of poor Shmucks like myself that take it for granted a calendar purchased in mid December is going to be for the following year!
Live and learn, huh? From now on when I buy a calendar I'm really going to check to make sure it is for the right year!
Janice 12-19-2015, 12:06 AM That's insane Bonnie. I could be wrong, but I think I was in a 99 cent store in New Hampshire a few years back. My sister lived there.
Zoneboy 12-19-2015, 12:16 AM I don't know what type of Calenders they had at the .99 cents store but some are collectible even if they're outdated. Big Lots normally sells current year calenders for $8.00 but they're reduced 90% near the end of the year. I've bought Beatles, I Love Lucy & Star Wars for .80 and resold them for up to $10.00.

Maybe they branched out? I know the original store was in Southern California, and they are all over the place here and I know they are in Nevada too. I didn't know , but maybe they are in other parts of the country now too! :)

No ,nothing like that! Just your basic kittens, pretty scenery and the one I bought was quaint little old fashioned Churches in the United States. Not collectors items at all!
Mace Dolex 12-19-2015, 01:43 AM They're a good place for stocking up on toilet paper, office stationary, cup of noodles, soda drinks, motor oil, potato chips, tooth paste and soap.

YES!!!!! ;) It's an excellent store!!! And you can't beat the price! I've never bought an outdated food/shelf item and the produce and dairy are always fresh! That's why it surprised me about the old calendars!
Family Ties Forever! 12-19-2015, 05:57 PM The 99 cents stores shouldn't sell old (2015) calendars. That's not fair to the customers who think they are getting a new one (2016).
bmasters9 12-20-2015, 05:26 AM The point was they were selling old calendars! ;)
As I said in one post earlier, my desk calendar for 2016 is spoken for, in the form of another cat calendar.
Family Ties Forever! 12-20-2015, 11:33 AM Cute cat calendar.

Family Ties Forever! 12-20-2015, 11:56 AM Than I stand corrected! I wasn't aware there were 99 cent only stores all over the country! I will change my original post. Where the stores are located was beside the point anyway! The point was they were selling old calendars! ;)
Sorry Bonniegirl, I edited my original post on page 1.

:) ;) Sorry I was too sensitive! I shouldn't have even taken offence to your post! :(
Their website says they serve Arizona, California,Nevada, and Texas. So I'm forced to go to Dollar Tree and spend the extra penny:(

I just tend to think an employee never went through the box to check. Help these days is getting worse.
robyrob 12-26-2015, 12:34 AM technically there are only 14 different calendar years (one for January 1st starting on each day of the week, and 7 more for the same with leap Years), so if you find the right old one you can reuse it - of course some things like full moons and daylight savings dates will be wrong, but hey what do you expect.
so you can reuse that 2015 Calendar in 2026 !! http://garyc.me/calendars/
and if you've been saving that old Saved By The Bell Calendar from 1988 it will work in 2016

Good to know robyrob. If I come across a calendar I really like, I may save it for a "future" year.
I rarely go in, so I surprised myself by buying a calendar at Dollar Tree for $1 today. (Yes it was for 2016).

WHAT???? My local Dollar Tree store doesn't sell calendars!!!:( I've searched every inch of the store!!! But I was able to exchange my 2015 calendar, apparently there were 2015's mixed in with 2016's ,and I was one of the dummy's that picked out a2015 one!!! Sad cause I liked the pictures on the 2015 one better than the one I exchanged it for!

Well, today is the last day of my Peanuts calendar for 2015 (as well as the last day of 2015 itself), and tomorrow, my new cat calendar kicks in. As such, I went ahead and set up my new cat calendar.
Has your friend set up that other new cat calendar yet?
