View Full Version : at what point did you realize Santa Claus wasnt real
auburntiger 12-16-2015, 07:26 PM for me it was at age 10 its actually kind of fun and interesting the lengths our parents go to at these holidays to make we sure we enjoy them when we're young at Christmas kids are suppose to believe a man in a red suit with flying deer brings them gifts. and at easter they're suppose to believe a giant rabbit brings them eggs and chocolate
He's...not...what??????? :( :( :( :( :(
Family Ties Forever! 12-16-2015, 08:28 PM At age 3. My great-grandma felt it was wrong for children to believe in things that aren't real.
Rankin Bass said it best-

Penny Lane 12-16-2015, 10:08 PM On Christmas Eve my dad always dressed as Santa Claus and handed out our gifts. Well, (I remember this vividly!) I think I was about 3 or 4 years old and I noticed that Santa was wearing my dad's boots and I announced that! Everyone laughed but I can't remember if that tipped me off or not! But that probably gave me a hint!

Darn it Opus!!! I was about to post the same thing you posted when I saw this thread! :D
But really I was pretty old! I held onto it as long as I could!! I didn't want to believe there wasn't a Santa. I was the baby of the family, and my older siblings never spilled the beans but an older neighbor kid had said Santa wasn't real, and I refused to believe him!! :(
I was the same way with my kids, I kept the Santa thing going as long as I could!;) I think they knew already and pretended to still believe to humor me!:D
treky 12-17-2015, 02:51 AM YOU MEAN HE'S ACTULLY NOT REAL????
I'd always heard that but I never believed it.
MrCleveland 12-17-2015, 08:40 AM I think I was 10 years old as well. I wasn't that upset unlike many other kids who'd not believe that Santa wasn't real.
But if I had a family, I'd rather have my children know about Santa and once the oldest child hits 10...I'll tell them the REAL story of Santa Claus, who's name is actually St. Nicholas of Myra in modern-day Turkey. St. Nicholas helped the poor by giving the children gold as they slept...hence why the legend became Santa Claus.

I was going to post about the true SANTA CLAUS and how his spirit still lives on today (But, you beat me to it)!!:(
If Santa Claus doesn't exist, then there sure are a lot of imposters running around claiming to be him or that they are his helpers!
I even saw one at my granddaughter's school Christmas program today!
Santa still comes to my house on Christmas Eve because there are still "presents" that say they are from "Santa"-- (but, I still haven't caught him or seen him yet, he sure is fast for a big guy and he doesn't miss any cookies left out for him either)
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

Even with grown kids no longer living here, every Christmas eve before we go to bed I still put out a glass of milk and cookies for Santa! ;)

Tweety 12-17-2015, 02:53 PM It was proven in court that Santa IS real
My older cousin David told me when I was 8. I think he should have kept it to himself though.

Mr. Television 12-17-2015, 06:35 PM I accidentally caught my parents. I suspected earlier though. I was about 10 or 11.
Regulus 12-17-2015, 08:20 PM I'm leaving him some of my homamade cookies and a bottle of Mikes Lemonade on Ice.
mets82 12-17-2015, 08:34 PM I was 10 and I woke up in bed and saw my parents were still up and put two and two together.
Jaqui-Michel 12-17-2015, 10:40 PM I think I was 6 or 7 and my brother showed me where my mother stashed our gifts. My mother could have strangled him. :D
Regulus 12-17-2015, 11:33 PM :uplol:
DJM77 12-18-2015, 09:06 AM I don't remember ever believing in him.
Nordy 12-19-2015, 10:35 PM I think my parents told me when I was 8. I was so broken hearted. Then after awhile it did seem odd he can just come into your house, eat your cookies, drink your milk basically do whatever he wanted without setting off any alarms.
treky 12-20-2015, 02:29 AM I think it was once when my older brother told me that to go all around the world he would have to leave during the day on the 23rd because of the international date line.
And once I remember I got mad at my little brother and sister for something and I said to them "Santa Claus isn't real you know. It's your parents who give you all those presents." (this was after I stopped believing) My older sister overheard me and yelled at me, then went and told my father who also yelled at me."
Blonde Ambition 01-03-2016, 05:47 PM I was 8 years old when I found where my parents hid the Christmas gifts.
Crusinforabrusin 01-03-2016, 05:53 PM At an early age. I was never one of those kids who bought into the Santa Claus Bull^^^^. My parents would continually yell at me because I kept telling my other siblings that he wasn't real
Evil Zebra 01-03-2016, 05:55 PM Santa Claus isn't real??
I bet the next thing you're gonna tell me is the "Blond Ambition" on here is not "Blond"

No, I am blonde but I do sometimes dye my tips brown/black/ or Red.

I saw...... (Before you took your profile picture down) lol
Retro4Life 01-04-2016, 07:45 PM Age 8, I had a feeling Santa wasn't real so I asked Mom and she told me. I think she felt badly, but she was very honest. Also had my 'birds and bees' talk that same evening, oddly enough. A real twofer!
I was pretty young I don't know my exact age, but we moved when I was 7 and it was before that. My parents never did the whole "Santa brings all the presents" thing anyway. We just got one Santa present usually a book. The rest we knew were from our parents and grandparents. We did leave out milk and cookies though, there's a pic of my brother with a big smile holding the empty plate.
