Empire was the only network show nominated this morning in either the Comedy or Drama Series categories, while shows on streaming services took up five nominations total in both categories. That meant the snubbing of critically acclaimed network shows like Black-ish and The Good Wife. PLUS: Streaming is king (http://www.tvinsider.com/article/58563/golden-globe-nominations-list-of-television-nominees-for-the-73rd-annual-awards/) among this year’s nominations, here are 47 of the most egregious snubs (http://tvline.com/2015/12/10/golden-globe-snubs-nominations-2016-photos/), how Lady Gaga screamed (http://www.ew.com/article/2015/12/10/lady-gaga-american-horror-story-golden-globe-nomination) in reaction to her first Globes nomination, Netflix is No. 1 (http://variety.com/2015/film/news/golden-globe-nominations-2016-scorecard-20th-century-fox-netflix-1201658230/#) with the most nominations, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend’s Rachel Bloom (http://www.tvinsider.com/article/59205/crazy-ex-girlfriends-rachel-bloom-on-her-golden-globe-nomination/) considers her nomination a victory, check out more nominee reactions, nearly all the best drama nominees (https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/arts-and-entertainment/wp/2015/12/10/the-golden-globes-nominations-for-best-tv-drama-look-a-lot-different-this-year/?wprss=rss_style) premiered within the past two years and are not prestige dramas, and the Globes nominations prove that TV comedy is ruled by the Internet (https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/arts-and-entertainment/wp/2015/12/10/tv-comedy-is-ruled-by-the-internet-so-says-the-hollywood-foreign-press/).

Gaga’s nomination (http://flavorwire.com/550902/for-television-the-golden-globes-idiosyncrasies-prove-a-double-edged-sword), says Robert Rorke, "reeks of the kind of palm-greasing for which the Globes are famous.” He adds: "Gaga is not an actress (http://www.eonline.com/news/723125/why-do-the-golden-globes-love-tv-newbies-so-much). What’s she doing as the vampy Countess on AHS: Hotel is a performance, all right, but it’s the kind of voguing you might see in one her music videos. Her dialogue delivery is stilted — and that’s putting it kindly.”

The annual Globes — which have become free promotion for outlets like HBO and Netflix — gives the Peacock big bucks, thanks especially to its upscale audience. The Globes also gives NBC a chance to promote its own shows.

"The jokes weren’t funny,” says Melissa Maerz, mostly blaming host Ricky Gervais. "The winners were far more senseless than usual, even for an awards show that prides itself on erratic choices. The acceptance speeches weren’t nearly tipsy enough. Worst of all, it was boring. If ever there was a moment when we desperately needed Jacqueline Bisset to rush the stage, smacking her lips and slurring, 'Go to hell and don’t come baaack!' this was it.” PLUS: Ricky Gervais risked turning into a Ricky Gervais tribute band (https://t.co/7gv6jAgFzR), the worst thing was too many celebrities trying to be funny (http://www.tvinsider.com/article/65088/roush-review-the-glittery-but-hardly-golden-globes/), there just wasn’t much fun (http://variety.com/2016/tv/reviews/golden-globes-2016-post-show-review-1201675973/) to be had, bringing Gervais back was as cynical (https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/arts-and-entertainment/wp/2016/01/11/golden-globes-review-we-ask-for-the-worst-so-we-get-the-worst/) as asking Donald Trump to host SNL, the hardest-working person was whoever was in charge of the bleep button (http://www.latimes.com/entertainment/envelope/la-et-mn-golden-globes-tv-review-20160111-column.html), Gervais was thankfully still pointed (http://www.slate.com/blogs/browbeat/2016/01/11/_2016_golden_globes_reviewed_this_awards_show_tried_so_hard_to_pretend_that.html) in mocking the absurdity of the Globes, Leonardo DiCaprio explains (http://www.etonline.com/awards/goldenglobes/179726_leonardo_dicaprio_explains_his_hilarious_reaction_to_lady_gaga_win/%20https://t.co/DkDAeiX30d) his Lady Gaga reaction, and watch a supercut of the bleeps.
