They are releasing so many series on DVD, and I can't believe they are not releasing TBH. We need a complete series release and I know the demand is there.

View Full Version : When will CBS have a complete series release of TBH? ILuvCarolBurnett 12-03-2015, 04:35 PM They are releasing so many series on DVD, and I can't believe they are not releasing TBH. We need a complete series release and I know the demand is there. tlc38tlc38 12-03-2015, 11:02 PM When it comes to TV on DVD, CBS is horrible. I would also love to see the complete series of TBH be released, along with Petticoat Junction. Although not a CBS title (but still a Paul Henning creation), I'd LOVE to see Green Acres completed on DVD. Ron Ron 12-04-2015, 02:26 AM I am surprised that Shout Factory has not taken this one on. Shout Factory has been really quiet now with those great complete series box releases. Shame….I got a coupon and never used it because there wasn't anything I was interested in…. tlc38tlc38 12-04-2015, 05:17 PM ^I think Shout! is taking a short break to see if the series sets they took on pays off before they release anymore. Ron Ron 12-04-2015, 08:22 PM Id love to see this on Blu ray as well…the complete series a la Dick Van Dyke Show…which looks just stunning on Blu ray. tlc38tlc38 12-06-2015, 12:31 PM Honestly, I love TBH but I don't really want to own it on Blu-ray. I'd be completely satisfied with the complete series being released on DVD. CBS....hear us now! ILuvCarolBurnett 12-29-2015, 12:46 AM I saw this explanation on the Wikipedia page for Filmways, inc. Filmways was the production company that produced TBH. Maybe the public domain issue, and who clearly owns copyrights, is the reason why we haven't seen a TBH complete series release? ""CBS holds distribution rights to The Beverly Hillbillies and Petticoat Junction. Viacom (the parent of CBS from 1999-2005, actually started as CBS’ syndication arm) syndicated these two programs since the 1970s. In the case of Hillbillies, Orion Television (now an in-name-only unit of MGM) still owns the copyrights to the episodes, excluding episodes from the first season and the first half of the second season, which have fallen into the public domain. However, any new compilation of Hillbillies material will be copyrighted by either MPI Media Group or CBS, depending on the series content." comedyfreak 12-29-2015, 10:33 AM I'd love for the rest of the series to make it to dvd. Crusinforabrusin 01-02-2016, 10:24 PM I'd like to see the rest released too! But don't get your hopes up. This is the same thing what CBS did to Happy Days.Released the first 6 seasons and stopped. Unlikely we'll ever see a complete release Will Dockery 01-15-2016, 06:52 AM I saw this explanation on the Wikipedia page for Filmways, inc. Filmways was the production company that produced TBH. Definitely seems like the rights are all tangled here, there, everywhere. Svenfan1234 04-14-2016, 01:24 PM This seems very problematic. While I would love to see Shout! or VEI or anybody release a complete series set of TBH, it sounds like the rights things are tangled up and nobody truly knows who owns it. Kinda like with the 1966 "Batman". But that got resolved. It's either CBS or MGM that owns TBH? Don't lose hope, a complete set will probably happen soon. LTCProductions 04-14-2016, 05:30 PM Apparently, MGM owns the copyright, while CBS has distribution rights. stanwyckfan07 05-23-2016, 08:02 PM An official first season set has FINALLY been released recently. It's available at Walmart and elsewhere including online. Of course it was long passed over for fear that all the many public domain versions out there would undercut it's sales but it's good to see we can now have top quality prints of this historic season. tlc38tlc38 09-27-2017, 09:19 PM Shout! Factory needs to start buying CBS titles (TBH, Petticoat Junction, & Happy Days) and treating them with the respect they deserve. There's no reason this show shouldn't be completed on DVD by now. Svenfan1234 09-27-2017, 09:33 PM :yeahthat And The Love Boat too. CoolGuyBevHills 09-16-2018, 04:43 PM I'd like to see s complete series set of TBH, too. My fear is that since the show had 274 episodes, it might start off being kinda expensive. It will probably have to be out for awhile before the price comes down. But who knows. TMC 03-06-2024, 05:08 AM I read (https://jacksonupperco.com/2024/03/06/ask-jackson-march-2024/) that CBS simply isn't all that interested now in making new physical media-related releases (https://www.hometheaterforum.com/community/threads/the-beverly-hillbillies-season-5-when.357792/) of old shows despite the fact that the entire (https://forums.stevehoffman.tv/threads/the-beverly-hillbillies-how-about-more-dvd-releases.284377/) Beverly Hillbillies (https://forums.stevehoffman.tv/threads/beverly-hillbillies-complete-series-box-set.1096686/) series has been remastered. stevea 03-06-2024, 07:52 AM I'm reading these links to the Steve Hoffman forum. I haven't read any post yet, saying the entires series has been remastered. Is there evidence of it on streaming sources? I know Amazon Prime has My Three Sons now, and the color seasons are "same old"--tired Viacom masters that have been on TV for years. 1960'sTVfan 03-06-2024, 10:43 AM I'm not sure if I would want the complete series of Beverly Hillbillies on DVD. I have the seasons that have been released thus far, seasons 1-5, and I seem to be fine with those. If the remaining seasons would get released, I would probably at least consider buying them but again I'm not sure. Petticoat Junction is also incomplete on DVD, only seasons 1-3 have been released. From what I understand, starting with season 4, the series began a change in direction and several songs were performed in episodes, I imagine clearing all the music for seasons 4-7 on DVD would be quite the difficult task. stevea 03-06-2024, 05:18 PM I'm reading these links to the Steve Hoffman forum. OK I just read the post from the Jackson Upperco site (linked to the word "read" in the TMC post) that says the entire series has been remastered. If he means the 90s work that mastered many sitcoms to videotape, yes, that's true. But there's no evidence in TV showings that the later seasons have had any work done to them beyond that. |
