According to http://tvnewscheck.com The American Medical Association wants to see ads for prescription drugs banned. They cite the negative impact of commercially driven promotions and the role marketing plays in the role of escalating drug prices :eek:
I think all of you know why I gave up on b"appointment TV nine years ago, thanks to age inappropriate commercials played at times when children are watching. :angryfire.
In 1971 commercials were banned from TV (During the 1971 New Year's Day Festivities (That's Parades and Football Games for those of you in Rio Linda!) it seemed every other ad was for cigarettes, since this was the last time they'd be on). The tobacco companies didn't put up a legal fight when their ads were banned, so IMO prescription drug Commercials should be banned.
PS. with my luck if such a ban was enacted, the commercials that would replace them would be EVEN WORSE! omg:
