I'll give you a few reasons:
1. Red Foxx. Every episode he did the same routine. I'm comin Elizabeth! Doesn't that get old after the 200th time?
2.the people who produced the show, made colored people, be portrayed in an poor way.
I don't like that (I'm white ,just saying).
3.The setting &the lighting. Ugh. The setting was so depressing. They lived in a junk yard. And the lighting, oh boy. The lighting is so bad, I can't stand to watch one episode, because it makes my eyes hurt.

You seem to know an awful lot about a show that you claim is too annoying to watch.

Your description of black people is very offensive.

I'm sorry. I really didn't want to say black person because I thought it was offensive. Anyways, im sorry if I disrespected anyone.

You have nothing to apologize for. I've never heard of anyone being offended by that term and if they were, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People or NAACP would've changed their name by now.

It is 2015. Most black people don't like being called "colored people."

the people who produced the show, made colored people, be portrayed in an poor way.

The series was originally intended to star Barnard Hughes & Paul Sorvino but it was suggested that Fred & Lamont be played by black actors.

It is 2015

Thanks, but I have several calendars in the house plus it's also displayed on my computer and cell phone so I don't need more reminders.

Then you probably also realize that the NAACP was founded in 1909.
Again, it is 2015 now and again, most black people don't appreciate being called "colored people." It's not 1909 anymore.

the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People or NAACP

I love Sanford and Son, even though it's overplayed on television. It's very funny.

Sanford and Son is one of my favorites, although Fred was kind of a jerk at times.

I'm black, and don't find "colored" offensive as much as it's just politically incorrect. Black is still perfectly okay lol

No, I am do not find Sanford and Son annoying. It is one of my favorite shows of all time, and I find it hilarious. Redd Foxx was one of the most iconic comedians of our time, and he still consider funny today.

I agree! :)

That is one thing about it though. Antenna plays it all the time, and a few other shows that Antenna always has on. They could mix it up more, add more new shows ( I mean old shows that haven't been shown before on Antenna)! ;)

And the term "Colored people"! Wow, I haven't heard that since about 1965!

I never knew that. I always wondered what this show would have been like if it had been with white actors instead. We did get to see a little spoof of what it would have been like when the show parodied itself in an episode and was called Steinberg and Son. That was a funny episode.

Wasn't it based on the English show "Steptoe & Son" ?

I suspect Michael cole is a troll, but then again I'm sure some people on this board think I'm one.

I don't find this show annoying at all. For the most part it was well written, and the lead actors were fantastic. The recurring characters were excellent and really helped to make the show. Part of the fun is the repetition of Fred's "this is the big one!" routines. Great show!

It's a hilarious show! :D One of my all time favorite! It really does make me LMAO! As much as I like it though, I rested it for a while because as said already Antenna is ALWAYS playing it. But even though i have seen it so many times and know the episodes by heart, it still cracks me up!:D Esp. the banter and bickering between Fred and Aunt Esther!!!

Esther: " You fish eyed fool"
Fred : " You could put your face in some dough and make gorilla cookies" !

It's a fantastic show and very funny. I love the recurring gags actually (with Aunt Esther, the fake heart attack, etc.)

Only parts of the early episodes seem out of place as they were more straight adaptions (and not just plots) of the British series where Steptoe and Son were more nasty to each other than Fred and Lamont were.

So you have see scenes where Fred and Lamont are more nasty to each other before the U.S. characters were fully developed and not just "Copies".

He was too old to be concerned with his father's love life which is why I hated the character

I was around during the original episodes on TV. I never watched the show regularly, just an episode here and there.
I would not say "annoying" to describe it, but I just did not find it interesting.

I did think that "Chico And The Man" was only trying to be another "Sanford And Son."

Both shows overdid the concepts of crotchety older man and whipper-snapping younger man.

I'm a fan of Freddie Prinze's stand up career, but I couldn't stand Chico And The Man. It was like the first season of Sanford and Son but not as fun at alll to me. The stereotyping was just too much with Prinze's accent. The last season without Prinze is awful!

When I was little watching the show, I used to think Fred Sanford was WHITE lol, I guess I never made the connection that he and Lamont were father and son at that time.

I like Lamont as well. The reversal of roles between father and son are one of the things that make the sitcom so funny!
Indeed, the show is run on antenna tv twice a day where I live and don't mind a bit. However, I sure wished Bewitched wasn't on as often as it is. I like some episodes, ( and I love some charcTers such as mrs kravitz and samantha's aunt) but it's not a favorite of mine.
