On May 24th, 2004, Al’s employer grew concerned when he failed to show up for work, so they contacted his sister, who lived in another state. She called the police and requested a welfare check.

The police were dispatched to Al’s condo on 2002 South Helena Street, not realizing the horrific scene they were about to encounter. They discovered Al deceased, bound and tied up, face down in a basement bedroom. It was a gruesome scene.

His hands were tied to his ankles and had extensive wounds on the bottoms of his feet. The coroner performed an autopsy, and the results shocked everyone. It was determined Al died Saturday, May 22nd, and was tortured for hours. The killer used Al’s kitchen knives to insert above his eyeballs and into his ears and shoulders. Unfortunately, it didn’t end there. The killer viciously stabbed Al 22 times, and his head was almost severed. The killer took his time and was extremely careful to clean up the scene. Police found all the kitchen knives, a honing rod, house key, pen, drinking glass, and Al’s car keys, soaking in a sink full of bleach to destroy any DNA. The killer also took a shower, poured bleach down the drains, and even took trash with him. Fortunately, he forgot two things; his bloodstain on the basement stairs and a rental agreement found crumpled up in a trash can. This would be the detectives first clue into who might have murdered Al.

Al’s renters had recently moved out, and he posted an ad in the library of the nearby University Of Colorado Medical School. A few weeks before Al’s murder, a man, using the alias Robert Cooper, answered the ad telling Al he was from the East Coast and worked for Wells Fargo. Al arranged for Robert to see the unit. Al’s girlfriend, Linda, happened to stop by while Robert was down in the basement. Al wanted Linda to meet Robert, but she asked to use the bathroom before Robert came back up. Linda said Robert rushed out the front door before she could introduce herself, which she found odd. She noticed the man was well dressed, had a limp, and carried a cane in his right hand. She didn’t get a good feeling from him and was happy when Al said the man didn’t want to rent the unit. But Robert contacted Al later and said he wanted to move in and gave Al a deposit on May 18th, four days before Al’s murder. Al gave Robert a key to the home. Law enforcement believe Robert Cooper is responsible for murdering Al Kite.

All the information Robert Cooper supplied Al on the rental agreement was false. The name, social security number, references, and even his current address were all for other people or businesses. Detectives discovered Cooper’s cell phone was a burner(prepaid) phone purchased at a 7-11 in March 2004. Cooper waited 30 days to activate the phone; exactly how long the store kept their surveillance footage before taping over it. This made it impossible for the police to see who purchased the phone. Cooper only used the phone to communicate with people renting out properties. One woman Cooper contacted showed him her rental property. She said he gave her the creeps, and he only seemed interested in the windows and doors. She taught Romanian at a local college and noticed Cooper had a hint of a Romanian accent.

Al’s case was featured on The DNA of Murder with Paul Holes on Oxygen Channel in 2019. Paul met with a bindings expert, Lindsey Philpott, and intelligence analyst, Julie Quinn, to get their take on the bindings and torture methods used. The bindings were odd because Al was bound around the upper arms, above the elbows, and twice above the knee. This type of hogtying is connected to the Turkish Hezbollah group, a violent radical Kurdish Islamic group organized in the 1980s. The group’s purpose was to secure a separate Islamic state in Turkey. The whipping of Al’s feet is unusual to investigators as well. There’s a type of foot beating called Falaka, a kind of corporal punishment that involves beating the soles of a person’s feet and is excruciatingly painful. This method is common in Turkey. The honing rod found in Al’s sink was most likely used for the injuries on Al’s feet.

Olivia Farnsworth, a cute little girl who baffled medics when they discovered she has a strange chromosome condition that omitted the feelings of hunger, fatigue or pain from her life forever. It’s a “rarer than rare” medical condition.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-3401566/The-bionic-girl-doesn-t-eat-rarely-sleeps-didn-t-feel-pain-dragged-street-car.html

Olivia Farnsworth baffled doctors when she was hit by car and dragged down the street but walked away without shedding a tear.

The seven-year-old, who often goes up to three days and nights without sleeping, has a condition is described as chromosome 6 deletion.

She is believed to be he only person in the world to exhibit the three symptoms together.

'She got run over and dragged down the street by a car and she didn't complain,' she said.

'She was dragged about ten car lengths down the road. It was horrendous, I don't think it's something I will ever get over.

'I was screaming and all my other children were screaming as she ran out.

'But Olivia was just like, ''What's going on?''. She just got up and started walking back to me.

'Because of the impact she should have had severe injuries. She had a tyre mark on her chest. But her only injuries were she had no skin on her toe or her hip.

'The doctors think what saved her from injury was she didn't tense up.'

Happy Mother's Day weekend!!!

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kermit_Gosnell

https://thefederalist.com/2015/05/11/planned-parenthood-and-kermit-gosnells-grisly-mothers-day-celebrations/

https://murderpedia.org/male.G/g/gosnell-kermit.htm

It has been reported that he spent four decades practicing medicine among the poor, including opening the Mantua Halfway House, a rehab clinic for drug addicts in the impoverished Mantua neighborhood of West Philadelphia near where he grew up, and a teen aid program. He became an early proponent of abortion rights in the 1960s and 1970s and, in 1972, he returned from a stint in New York City to open up an abortion clinic on Lancaster Avenue in Mantua.

Gosnell told a Philadelphia Inquirer reporter in October 1972: "as a physician, I am very concerned about the sanctity of life. But it is for this precise reason that I provide abortions for women who want and need them".

In the same year, he also performed fifteen televised second-trimester abortions, using an experimental "Super Coil" method invented by Harvey Karman. The coils were inserted into the uterus, where they caused irritation leading to the expulsion of the fetus. However, complications from the procedure were reported by nine of the women, with three of these reporting severe complications. The super coil experiment by Gosnell has been dubbed the "mother's day massacre" by some.

---

Gosnell's license to practice was suspended on 22 February 2010, and these and other findings were presented to a Grand Jury on 4 May 2010. Public discussion focused on claims of unsanitary conditions and other unacceptable conditions at the practices. Media reports stated that furniture and blankets were stained with blood, freely roaming cats deposited their feces wherever they pleased, and that non-sterilized equipment was used and reused on patients.

According to the grand jury report, patients were given labor-inducing drugs by staff who had no medical training. Once labor began, the patient would be placed on a toilet. After the fetus fell into the toilet, it would be fished out, so as not to clog the plumbing. In the recovery room, patients were seated on dirty recliners covered in blood-stained blankets. Prosecutors alleged that Gosnell had not been certified in either gynecology or obstetrics. The Grand Jury estimated that Gosnell's practice "took in $10,000 to $15,000 a night" additional to income from his exceedingly high level of prescriptions.

--

Gosnell's lawyer states that "Everybody's made him the butcher, this, that and the other thing without any trial, without anything being exposed to the public and everybody's found him guilty, that's not right". He accused the government of a "lynching" and stated, "This is a targeted, elitist and racist prosecution of a doctor who's done nothing but give (back) to the poor and the people of West Philadelphia.

Cases cited in the media

Examples of cases cited in the media include:

Girl age 15, accompanied by relative (1998): said to have told Gosnell she changed her mind about the abortion once inside the practice. Gosnell allegedly got upset, ripped off the patient's clothing, and forcibly restrained her. The patient later stated that Gosnell told her "This is the same care that I would give to my own daughter." She regained consciousness 12 hours later at her aunt's home, the abortion having been completed against her will.

Woman age 28, five months pregnant (2001): Patient described the pain four days after abortion as being so bad she could barely walk. The patient described that upon returning to the clinic because of the pain, ultrasound showed fetal remains left inside her womb, and that Gosnell suctioned these out without anesthesia. "I was just laying on the table and crying and I just asked the Lord to get me through it."

Fifteen-year-old (undated): damages awarded in court upon a finding that Gosnell performed an abortion on a fifteen-year-old without parental permission.

Karnamaya Mongar, a 41-year-old refugee from Bhutan (2009): according to prosecutors, Gosnell's staff gave the 90-pound woman a lethal dose of anesthesia and painkillers during a 2009 abortion (this is the adult whose death is charged as third degree murder). During Gosnell's trial, a toxicologist testified to unsafe levels of the drug, and the chair of Anesthesiology at the University of Pittsburgh Medical School testified that the dose received by her was "outrageous" and "most" average adults would have stopped breathing if dosed in the manner described. Gosnell's lawyer asserts that Karnamaya Mongar also had other drugs in her system that did not come from Gosnell's clinic, and that none of the infants were born alive.

On May 15, 2013, Gosnell was sentenced to life in prison for the third child's murder.

No one came to visit or set out flowers above. Grass grew and snow fell for three years on her cheap wooden casket, her skin and organs began to decay until only her skeleton remained.

A Swedish man who was arrested on suspicion of murdering his wife has been cleared, after police decided she was probably killed by an elk.

Ingemar Westlund, aged 68, found the dead body of his wife Agneta, 63, by a lake close to the village of Loftahammer in September 2008.

He was immediately arrested and held in police custody for 10 days.

Now the case has been dropped after forensic analysis found elk hair and saliva on his wife's clothes.

Mr Westlund told Expressen newspaper: "My family and I have been dragged through a nightmare."

His wife had last been seen taking the family dog out for a walk in the forest. When she failed to return her husband went out to look for her.

The European elk, or moose, is usually considered to be shy and will normally run away from humans. But Swedish Radio International says the animals can become aggressive after eating fermented fallen apples in gardens.

https://news.amomama.com/287752-7-year-old-finds-her-photo-a-milk-carton.html

Bonnie Lohman had a unique childhood and spent many of her formative years moving between places like Saipan, Hawaii, and Colorado. While other children were playing and learning to read, she was with her mom and stepdad inside the house.

As Lohman grew older, her parents granted her more freedom and allowed her to play with their neighbors. She was excited to join her stepdad on a trip to the grocery store and was intrigued when he pointed at a milk carton.

Lohman's stepfather highlighted her face on the side of a milk carton. The youngster was confused but asked him if she could keep the carton and cut out the image.

He agreed but told her to keep it a secret. Lohman shared: "I remember cutting it out and staring at the picture." She stored the photo in her toy box and had no idea what it alluded to because she couldn't read.

One day, when Lohman forgot her toy box at the neighbor's house, they came across the photo and acted immediately. The family realized she was a missing child.

Lohman remembered police swarming her home and arresting her parents before she was reunited with her biological father. It was a difficult time for the then-seven-year-old who did not understand everything that had happened.

The reunion with her biological father was not filled with joy and love. She had no recollection of him because her mom and stepdad kidnaped her at three.

A tearful Lohman stated: "I remember being scared because I didn't know my dad. It sucked." Lohman longed for her mother for a long time, but she eventually formed a bond with her dad.

Just learned of this story this weekend and now I have a new hero:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6LR908EITgk

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maurice_Wilson

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8976261/Maurice-Wilson-wanted-crash-land-plane-walk-Everest-fly-climb.html

===

Wilson formed a plan to fly a small aeroplane to Tibet, crash-land it on the upper slopes of Everest, and walk to the summit. It was a bold plan; a solo flight halfway across the world would have been a significant undertaking for the best aviators of the day, while no mountaineer of the time would have contemplated a solo ascent of Everest – a feat which was not to be achieved until 1980. A practical problem was posed by the fact that Wilson knew nothing about either flying or mountaineering, so he set out to learn these.

Wilson purchased a three-year-old de Havilland DH.60 Moth, which he christened Ever Wrest, and set about learning the rudiments of flying. He was a poor student who took twice the average length of time to gain his pilot's licence, and was told by his instructor that he would never reach India. However, he did obtain his licence, and the scepticism of his peers only increased his determination – he told his instructor that he would reach Everest, or die in the attempt.[11]

Wilson's preparation for the mountaineering challenge that lay ahead was even worse than his preparation for the flight. He bought no specialist equipment and made no attempt to learn technical mountaineering skills, such as the use of an ice axe and crampons. Instead, he spent just five weeks walking around the modest hills of Snowdonia and the Lake District before he declared himself ready.[12]

I'm surprised this case isn't more talked about in true crime circles given the odd circumstances.

A 10 year old is locked out of the house after arguing with her sister.

She walks to a store to call her parents. A man is seen in the phone booth with her. The man actually talks to her mother and tells her to hurry here and pick up your daughter or I'll call the police. The mother comes within 20 mins but the man and child are gone.

A letter from the man comes to the police 25 years later. Another 3 years after that. The man is eventually found and cleared.

The girl remains missing.

https://www.theguardian.com/society/2016/jul/14/genie-feral-child-los-angeles-researchers

She hobbled into a Los Angeles county welfare office in October 1970, a stooped, withered waif with a curious way of holding up her hands, like a rabbit. She looked about six or seven. Her mother, stricken with cataracts, was seeking an office with services for the blind and had entered the wrong room.

But the girl transfixed welfare officers.

At first they assumed autism. Then they discovered she could not talk. She was incontinent and salivated and spat. She had two nearly complete sets of teeth - extra teeth in such cases are known as supernumeraries, a rare dental condition. She could barely chew or swallow, and could not fully focus her eyes or extend her limbs. She weighed just 59lb (26kg). And she was, it turned out, 13 years old.

Her name – the name given to protect her identity – was Genie. Her deranged father had strapped her into a handmade straitjacket and tied her to a chair in a silent room of a suburban house since she was a toddler. He had forbidden her to cry, speak or make noise and had beaten and growled at her, like a dog.

There was Genie’s older brother, who also suffered grievously under their father. He lived, in his own words, like a “dead man” and failed his own daughter – Genie’s niece – who in turn failed her daughters.

The story begins with Genie’s father, Clark Wiley. He grew up in foster homes in the Pacific north-west and worked as a machinist on aircraft assembly lines in LA during and after the second world war. He married Irene Oglesby, a dust bowl migrant 20 years his junior. A controlling man who hated noise, he did not want children. Yet children came. The first, a baby girl, died after being left in a cold garage. A second died from birth complications. A third, a boy named John, survived, followed five years later by the girl who would become known as Genie.

When a drunk driver killed Wiley’s mother in 1958, he unravelled into anger and paranoia. He brutalised John and locked his 20-month-old daughter alone in a small bedroom, isolated and barely able to move. When not harnessed to a potty seat, she was constrained in a type of straitjacket and wire mesh-covered crib. Wiley imposed silence with his fists and a piece of wood. That is how Genie passed the 1960s.

Irene, stricken by fear and poor eyesight, finally fled in 1970. Things happened swiftly after she blundered into the wrong welfare office. Wiley, charged with child abuse, shot himself. “The world will never understand,” said the note.

Genie, a ward of court, was moved to LA’s children’s hospital. Pediatricians, psychologists, linguists and other experts from around the US petitioned to examine and treat her, for here was a unique opportunity to study brain and speech development – how language makes us human.

Genie could speak a few words, such as “blue”, “orange”, “mother” and “go”, but mostly remained silent and undemonstrative. She shuffled with a sort of bunny hop and urinated and defecated when stressed. Doctors called her the most profoundly damaged child they had ever seen.

Progress initially was promising. Genie learned to play, chew, dress herself and enjoy music. She expanded her vocabulary and sketched pictures to communicate what words could not. She performed well on intelligence tests.

“Language and thought are distinct from each other. For many of us, our thoughts are verbally encoded. For Genie, her thoughts were virtually never verbally encoded, but there are many ways to think,” said Curtiss, one of the few surviving members of the research team. “She was smart. She could hold a set of pictures so they told a story. She could create all sorts of complex structures from sticks. She had other signs of intelligence. The lights were on.”

Curtiss, who was starting out as an academic at that time, formed a tight bond with Genie during walks and shopping trips (mainly for plastic buckets, which Genie collected). Her curiosity and spirit also enchanted hospital cooks, orderlies and other staff members.

Genie showed that lexicon seemed to have no age limit. But grammar, forming words into sentences, proved beyond her, bolstering the view that beyond a certain age, it is simply too late. The window seems to close, said Curtiss, between five and 10.

Research funding dried up and Genie was moved to an inadequate foster home. Irene briefly regained custody only to find herself overwhelmed – so Genie went to another foster home, then a series of state institutions under the supervision of social workers who barred access to Curtiss and others. Genie’s progress swiftly reversed, perhaps never to be recovered.

For the surviving scientists it is regret tinged with anguish. Shurley’s verdict: “She was this isolated person, incarcerated for all those years, and she emerged and lived in a more reasonable world for a while, and responded to this world, and then the door was shut and she withdrew again and her soul was sick.”

The legacy of Clark Wiley’s abuse never released Genie’s brother, John. After the beatings, and witnessing his sister’s suffering, he told ABC News in 2008: “I feel at times God failed me. Maybe I failed him.” He saw Genie for the last time in 1982 and lost touch with their mother, who died in 2003. “I tried to put [Genie] out of my mind because of the shame. But I’m glad she got some help.”

https://www.theguardian.com/society/2016/jul/14/genie-feral-child-los-angeles-researchers

Teenager kills a girl. His family put up his bond. He repaid his parents for this by murdering his brother and raping his sister.

https://www.latimes.com/archives/la-xpm-1995-05-28-mn-6956-story.htmlCRETE, Ill. —

On St. Patrick’s Day, Roger and Gayle Pfiel relaxed at a party--a respite from their waking nightmare, the murder accusation against their younger son that had hung over their family for more than a year.

They returned home to find a cataclysm.

Six squad cars and two ambulances lined the pothole-scarred rural road that separated their large and isolated Tudor home from a fallow cornfield.

Inside, their older son lay dead, beaten with a baseball bat, his throat slashed with a meat cleaver. A young family member, the one whose hysterical telephone call had summoned help, had been raped.

For a family that already had too much grief to bear, there was one more terrible blow in store.

Police told them it was not an intruder who was responsible for the violence, but Steven--the baby-faced, 18-year-old son who had been charged with killing a young girl 20 months earlier.

This was the son for whom they posted a $100,000 bond and moved the family to a rural home when the taunts and glares of neighbors became too much. He was the son who, days later, penned a note to his parents from a jail cell.

“Mom and Dad,” Steven Pfiel wrote, “now I’ve killed two people.”

There could be a dark Luke Skywalker joke to be made as most "average" people only know of the original movie - but even this Star Wars fan has their limits.

In 1998, conservationists were doing repairs on 36 Craven, looking to turn Franklin’s old haunt into a museum. “From a one-meter-wide, one-meter-deep pit, over 1,200 pieces of bone were retrieved”—remnants of more than a dozen bodies, according to Benjamin Franklin House. Six were children. Forensic investigations showed that the bones dated to Franklin’s day.

“The most plausible explanation is not mass murder, but an anatomy school run by Benjamin Franklin’s young friend and protege, William Hewson,” said the Guardian in 2003.

Franklin was probably aware of the illegal studies going on in his building, says the Benjamin Franklin House, but it’s doubtful the he was involved himself.

Second shooter' behind John Lennon murder: New evidence reveals bullets from two different guns were pulled from Beatles legend's body in autopsy

Two different guns may have been used in the John Lennon shooting, according to a British writer investigating the case.

Author and TV producer David Whelan has unearthed official records showing for the first time that two different types of bullets were removed from the music legend's body following his fatal shooting on December 8, 1980.

Mr Whelan believes a 'second shooter' could have been involved in the murder of Lennon and has now uncovered dramatic new evidence supporting his case.

Mr Whelan's three-year investigation into the murder has highlighted a series of extraordinary inconsistencies - including the suggestion that detectives may have fundamentally misunderstood how the shooting happened.

Whelan's research has focussed on the bullets recovered from the scene.

Oddly, only two 'slugs' were ever entered into evidence, according to the documents, despite the fact that Chapman was said to have fired all the rounds in his five-chamber '.38 special' revolver, four of them hitting Lennon.

The whereabouts of the missing three bullets is unknown.

But the two bullets which were removed from Lennon's body during the autopsy raise their own intriguing questions, says Mr Whelan, because they are marked as being of different types.

One is marked on a receipt from the New York morgue, where Lennon's body was stored, as an '1 x 38 cal.SWC', which stands for 'Semi-wadcutter' or hollow-point bullet, designed to spread out on impact with a target.

The other is listed as simply '1 x 38cal lead bullet'.

Mr Whelan told MailOnline: 'Though unlikely, it is possible to have different types of ammunition in a single revolver.

'But Chapman always insisted he was using hollow point wadcutter bullets and he was familiar with guns and ammunition from his security guard days.'

He added: 'Different bullet types found in John Lennon's body is explosive information.

'Perhaps this is one of the reasons why Lennon's autopsy has not been leaked to the world by the authorities, and the wishes of Lennon's family to keep John's autopsy private have been respected.'

Mr Whelan believes that the different bullet types bolster his theory that a second shooter was involved in the killing.

As we revealed in April, Mr Whelan, 56, has spoken to key figures involved in the aftermath of the shooting. These include the surgeon who treated Lennon and two nurses who assisted - as well as uncovering other witness testimonies which don't appear to correspond with the official narrative.

The prosecution's version of events, accepted by the courts, was that disturbed loner Chapman lay in wait for Lennon and shot five times, four of the bullets hitting his victim in the back. But this now appears to be riddled with contradictions.

Instead, Whelan's witnesses suggest that the way the shooting was officially recorded may have been completely wrong - with the fatal shots fired into Lennon's chest rather than back.

He added: 'If Mark Chapman was shooting hollow bullets at John Lennon and only one hit him, with four missing, this could account for the one which was found in Lennon. It could also account for three bullets holes low down in the glass vestibule doors which were at a height that didn't match Lennon's upper left chest wounds.

'As for the other normal lead bullet that was found in Lennon, could this have come from the weapon of a second shooter inside the vestibule area, and be the single bullet that a doctor and two nurses all said was left in Lennon's body?'

He added: 'The scenario would be that Chapman fired at Lennon when he was walking into the vestibule doors. Four missed, with three hitting the glass doors. One hollow bullet struck Lennon.

'Lennon, staggered onwards into the vestibule, but a second shooter concealed inside the building finished the job and shot Lennon with four bullets in his upper left chest area in a 'tight professional grouping' (as the medical staff all claimed), with one bullet staying in Lennon and three exiting his back.

'The hollow-point bullets Chapman supposedly used do not usually pass through a victim, as they are designed to spread out on impact, causing maximum damage to the body.'

Yet three bullets did pass through Lennon, leaving holes in the glass panels of a vestibule door attached to the security entrance of the building. Whelan claimed that the slugs' marks in the door were too low to have come from shots to Lennon's shoulder.

https://www.greenbaypressgazette.com/story/news/local/oconto-county/2014/10/06/two-sentenced-squad-car-tryst/16820229/

A 33-year-old man and 29-year-old woman had sex in a squad car after being pulled over for drunken driving in Oconto County.

Travis Husnik of Luxemburg and Heather Basten of New Franken were being transported in August to the Oconto County Jail when they started having sex in a squad car. The deputy stopped the car, told Husnik to pull his pants back up, then put Husnik in the front seat.

Husnik was charged with lewd and lascivious behavior and disorderly conduct in connection to the Aug. 3 incident. The same charges were filed against Basten, who was driving the car which was stopped by a deputy just north of Gillett.

"What do I sentence a guy who has sex in squad car to?" asked County Circuit Court Judge Jay Conley during the recent sentencing in the case.

"I'm getting to be pretty old guy and I've never seen that situation in my legal life. It's not like you have a lot of law school courses or training on what do you sentence a guy who has sex in a squad car to."

Assistant District Attorney Robert Mraz asked Conley to sentence Husnik to time served of nine days, the amount of time he was held until posting $1,500 bond.
"You would hope people would have more self-respect for themselves, and have a better character than to do this behavior in the manner in which this defendant and his female friend did," Mraz told Conley.

"This is kind of … it's a little disgusting to have another person watching (others) engage in sexual relations the way the defendant and his female companion did."

"We're in complete agreement with the state that this was completely unacceptable behavior," said Husnik's attorney, Timothy O'Connell.

Husnik posted bond but remained in custody in Oconto County because of the probation hold or sanction by his Department of Corrections agent. He would continue to be held until Oct. 14 regardless of his sentence.

During his chance to speak in court, Husnik did not address what happened. He told Conley that he understood that he remained in custody after posting bail because of his conduct that night.
Conley said because the case was "so unusual and so outlandish," he was pondering the sentence until he looked over Husnik's criminal history through online court records. Conley said he found 19 convictions, with four felonies, including one for battery to law enforcement in Brown County, and three resisting or obstructing officer convictions.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lawrence_Singleton

https://allthatsinteresting.com/lawrence-singleton

On September 29, 1978, Singleton picked up 15-year-old Mary Vincent of Las Vegas, Nevada, while she was hitchhiking from her grandfather's house in Berkeley, California back home to Las Vegas. He picked her up outside of Modesto, California, after which he knocked her unconscious with a sledgehammer, spent the night raping her, and tortured her by severing both her forearms with a hatchet. Singleton figured she was dead or near death and he threw her off a 30-foot cliff on Interstate-5 near Del Puerto Canyon, leaving her naked and bleeding out. She mitigated the bleeding from her forearms by shoving them into mud, and the mud suppressed her bleeding while she managed to pull herself back up the cliff. She walked for three miles, naked, covered in blood, and armless, before finding and alerting a passing couple who took her to a hospital.

Six months after the assault, Vincent faced Singleton at his trial, where her testimony helped to convict him.[5] Singleton was sentenced to fourteen years in prison, the maximum allowed by law in California at that time.[5] The presiding judge remarked: "If I had the power, I would send him to prison for the rest of his natural life."[6]

While Vincent won a $2.56 million civil judgment against Singleton, she was unable to collect it when Singleton revealed that he was unemployed, in poor health, and had only $200 in savings.[7]

Along with the particularly gruesome and callous aspects of the crime, the case became even more notorious after Singleton was paroled after serving only eight years in prison. He was able to reduce his time through good behavior and working as a teaching assistant in a prison classroom.[6] Singleton was paroled to Contra Costa County, California, but no town would accept his presence, so he had to live in a trailer on the grounds of San Quentin prison until his parole ended a year later.[

On Feb. 19th, 1997, a local house painter decided to swing by a client’s house in Tampa to do some touchup work — and instead witnessed a horrifying scene unfolding there.

Peering through a window, the painter saw the man he knew as “Bill,” completely naked and covered in blood, standing above a motionless woman on a sofa and stabbing her with a frenzied and vicious intensity. Later, the painter would say he heard the sound of bones crunching with each thrust — “like chicken bones breaking.”

Though the painter didn’t know it, it was Lawrence Singleton.

The painter rushed to call the police, and when they arrived on the scene, it was clear that Hayes was beyond saving. Singleton was promptly arrested and charged with murder.

In a remarkable display of courage, Vincent traveled to Florida to testify against Lawrence Singleton once more, this time on behalf of Roxanne Hayes. She played a pivotal role in Singleton’s ultimate conviction.

Ellen Rae Greenberg died on January 26, 2011 of multiple knife wounds. In all, she was stabbed and sliced 20 times. 9 of those wounds were to the back of her head and neck. 1 was to the top of her head. 10 were to her chest and front abdomen. An autopsy was performed the following day with an initial finding of homicide by multiple stab wounds.

Sometime between January 26th and February 18th, the medical examiner who performed the autopsy was purportedly called into a meeting with Philadelphia PD personnel and a representative from the district attorney's office where he was told that there was no way anybody could have been inside her apartment with her because the door was latched with a swing bar style lock from the inside and that her fiancé, Sam Goldberg, broke down the door in front of a witness, the apartment security guard, Phillip Hanton. On February 18th, a final autopsy report was published with a finding of suicide by multiple stab wounds.

Ellen's parents hired a lawyer, Larry Krasner, to help them overturn that finding. In 2018, Mr. Krasner was elected District Attorney in Philadelphia. Citing a conflict of interest, he referred the case to the Attorney General, Josh Shapiro.

Mr. Shapiro's office stated that they agreed with the Medical Examiner's findings, and closed their investigation into Ellen Greenberg's death. When testimony under oath from a former Philadelphia medical examiner stating that at least two of the wounds Ellen suffered had occurred post mortem was delivered to the AG's office, along with a written statement from Phillip Hanton that he had not infact witnessed Sam Goldberg breaking the door down and video evidence supporting his statement, the AG's office released a public statement that said they still believed Ellen committed suicide.

https://www.reddit.com/r/TrueCrime/comments/n2rj4i/the_horrifying_submarine_murder_of_journalist_kim/

On August 10, 2017 the 30 year old Swedish journalist Kim Wall was spending the day with her partner, Ole with whom she lived in Copenhagen, Denmark and their friends, having a goodbye party for herself and her partner as they were about to move to China for Kim's work when she received a text messaged from the scientist and inventor Peter Madsen, with whom she had been trying to get an interview with for months. Peter Madsen quite suddenly and a bit out of now where invited Kim for a trip in his fully functioning, homemade submarine.

Peter Madsen was a "semi-celebrity" in Denmark. And it was not his submarine that Kim Wall was interested in, but his ambition to build a rocket to launch into space.

It was 19:00 (7 PM) on 10 August when she boarded the UC3 Nautilus (name of the homemade submarine)

"I'm still alive btw," she texted her partner. "But I'm going down now. I love you! He brought coffee and cookies tho." It was the last message she sent. Her boyfriend, Ole repeatedly texted back without getting any replies what so ever from Kim. Photos were taken of Kim Wall and Peter Madsen from another ship approximately 90 minutes after they went down with the submarine. In the photo Kim looks relaxed and happy as she is seen waving to the people on the other ship.

Kim's partner Ole got worried and raised an alarm around after midnight. Both Kim and Peter Madsen were reported missing. The submarine was sighted by a merchant ship to the north-west of the Oresund bridge at about midnight, it had no satellite tracking and authorities were unable to contact Peter Madsen until the morning.

The submarine was finally spotted from a lighthouse at 10:30 on 11 August. A rescue helicopter radioed Madsen and then looked on as the submarine sank within 30 seconds. Madsen was pulled to safety by four people out fishing and taken to the port of Dragor, where he was met by a group of reporters and described the final moments of the sub, blaming its sinking on the ballast tank.

Madsen said he had dropped Kim off at about 10.30 PM the night before near a restaurant on a harbor near a restaurant. The owner of the restaursnt told the police that the area was well covered by CCTV and he handed the video footage over, on which there was no evidence to back up Madsens claims.

After a judicial hearing on 12 August, police revealed Peter Madsen had given them a new account of events, which finally emerged on 21 August. Madsen had told them there had been a "terrible accident" on board. Kim Wall had been accidentally hit on the head by the submarine's 70kg (150lb) hatch. He had then dumped her body somewhere in the water.

Finally, on August 21 a cyclist did a horrifying discovery on a beach when he found a mutilated torso which was quickly identified as Kim's. Her head, legs and clothing wasnt found until October 6.

Then, on 30 October, police said the inventor had changed his story and told them she died on board of carbon monoxide poisoning while he was up on deck. He also admitted dismembering her body, which he had previously denied. The air pressure on board the submarine had suddenly plummeted while he was on the deck, he explained, and Kim Wall was in the engine room. The sub had filled with exhaust fumes and he had been unable to get back in.

"When I finally manage to open the hatch, a warm cloud hits my face. I find her lifeless on the floor, and I squat next to her and try to wake her up, slapping her cheeks," he said.

After trying for almost an hour to push her body out of the submarine, he said he dismembered her. Peter Madsen always denied murder and aggravated sexual assault, but admitted dismembering Kim Wall's body and disposing of it at sea. He told his trial he had hidden the truth out of respect for the victim's family

THE TRIAL

The prosecution painted a picture of a man who enjoyed watching videos of women being killed or tortured which were found on his workshop computer. Peter Madsen had watched a beheading video shortly before he had taken Kim Wall out in the submarine.

It is unclear exactly how Kim Wall died but during the trial the prosecutor denied the lack of sexual motive. Peter Madsen had been trying to get other women to join him in his submarine but none had come. The snuff films found on his laptop was evidence that he enjoyed this stuff. He had a life time sentence and the judge said it was clear sexual motive and a planned murder and dismembering case.

The prosecutor claimed that Kim may have been tied with her own stockings before Madsen "impaled her" in what he described as a sexual motive.

Peter Madsen also brought a saw, sharpened screwdrivers, straps, strips and pipes” to the submarine before the trip. The straps and pipes were tied to her torso and limbs to weight them down after he threw them overboard. The police investigation has not been able to establish the exact cause of death, but say that she was either strangled or had her throat cut.

The police said earlier that Kim had been stabbed repeatedly, including in her genitals. Peter Madsen used a one metre long screwdriver to stab her genitals.

Peter Madsen is now married to a woman he met while in prison. He has also tried to escape prison by claiming to have a bomb.

Drugged up mother spends years abusing her toddler. When he ends up missing and is found murdered, the mother is arrested and put on trial.

Despite being found guilty of abusing her child (including hanging him off a bridge), she is acquitted of his murder.

It would take years for DNA to uncover an unrelated 13 year old boy actually strangled the child.

A heart warming story overall!

The man who found Amber Gibson's naked body in a woodland southeast of Glasgow violated her instead of telling police, it has emerged.

Amber, 16, was sexually assaulted and murdered by her brother Connor Gibson in Hamilton, South Lanarkshire on November 26, 2021.

Connor, then 19, removed her clothing and repeatedly inflicted blunt force trauma to Amber's head and body. He compressed her neck with his hands and strangled her with intent to rape her, eventually killing her.

Stephen Corrigan, 45, discovered her remains in Cadzow Glen park at some point in the following two days. But instead of contacting emergency services he intimately touched and concealed Amber's body.

Corrigan, said in court not to be known to Connor, was found guilty of attempting to defeat the ends of justice and breach of the peace. He denied the charge and had lodged a special defence of alibi.

The court heard that Corrigan told police he was at a 'complete loss' to explain why his DNA was found on 39 areas of Amber's body, including her breasts, buttocks and thighs.

His father, William Corrigan, 79, told the court his son was at his home in Blantyre, South Lanarkshire, that weekend after a fall on ice left his arm in a sling, and denied lying to protect him.

Today, Lord Mulholland remanded both Connor and Corrigan in custody after the jury returned its verdicts.

Turning to Connor first, he said: 'Your sister - the last person she saw was you strangling her. It was depraved. You will pay a heavy price for that.'

The judge then told Corrigan: 'You have been convicted of two horrific crimes. You came across a young girl who had been strangled to death and was naked.

'Instead of alerting the authorities you decide to handle her body all over from head to toe including areas that were intimate - private parts - and your DNA told the story. Be under no illusion what is also coming your way.'

The judge said Corrigan faces a 'lengthy sentence'. He deferred sentence until September 4 at the High Court in Livingston for pleas in mitigation and background reports.

Lord Mulholland told Connor that he faces a mandatory life sentence with the punishment part to be decided after considering the plea in mitigation on his behalf and a criminal justice social work report.

Neither showed any emotion as they were taken handcuffed to the cells.

Connor, then 19, attacked his younger sister Amber in a park in Hamilton on the outskirts of Glasgow. He removed her clothes before sexually assaulting her and hitting her on the head, then fatally strangled her.

He denied sexually assaulting and murdering Amber but was convicted following a 13-day trial based on a combination of CCTV footage and DNA evidence, including his bloodstained jacket.

Connor now faces a life sentence after being convicted of murder and attempted rape. Corrigan was convicted of a breach of the peace and attempting to defeat the ends of justice. They will be jailed in Livingston on September 4.

https://www.websleuths.com/forums/threads/romania-vasile-gorgos-93-returns-home-after-30-years-missing.585422/

In 1991, Vasile Gorgos, a 63-year-old cattle seller from Romania, disappeared without a trace after leaving for a business trip. He got a train ticket, as he usually did when going on a business trip, told his wife and kids he would be back in a few days, and never returned. His family reported his disappearance to the authorities, but nothing came of it. Fast forward to August 2021, a car stops in front of his family home and drops the now 93-year-old off. He has a good appearance, is clean, wearing the same pants he went missing in, and can’t remember where he’s been for the past 30 years.

His family can’t believe their eyes. When they ask Vasile where he has been for 30 years, he replies that he was ‘home.’ But it gets even weirder. They notice that he wears the exact same clothes as when he left 30 years ago. His train ticket is even still in his pocket.

After a thorough medical examination, doctors can only conclude that Vasile is in good health. For 30 years long, he was perfectly taken care of. Except for some neurologic issues, nothing extraordinary for a man of his age, they can’t find any medical problems. The bizarre thing is that he can perfectly remember his family, his house, and everything he knew 30 years ago. But Vasile doesn’t remember anything from the past 30 years.

https://www.mlive.com/news/muskegon/2017/11/look_back_thanksgiving_foundry.html

MUSKEGON, MI - It will go down in history as one of the Muskegon area's most tragic cases: the Thanksgiving Day foundry-ladle deaths of two young boys at the hands of their mentally ill father.

Nov. 26, 1987, at a Norton Shores foundry. Bartley James Dobben, suffering from paranoid schizophrenia, placed his two sons in the ladle and turned on the gas burners.

Mental illness

It was just before 4 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day when Dobben swung into his workplace at Cannon-Muskegon Corp. on Lincoln Street in Norton Shores. His pregnant wife, Susan, and sons Bartley Joel Dobben, 2, and Peter David Dobben, 15 months, were in the car with him.

He needed to retrieve his Bible, Dobben told his wife, and brought the kids with him, saying he wanted to give them a tour of where their father had worked for nine years.

Once inside, he placed the toddlers inside a transfer ladle, suspended by cables and about 7 feet wide, that was used to move molten metals inside the foundry. And then he turned on the burners.

Afterward, he walked up to a security guard and told him "My kids are in the furnace," according to a Norton Shores Police report. When asked if they fell in, Dobben responded, "No I put them in and lit it."

Dobben and his wife had been having marital problems, brought on by his illness that had been diagnosed about a year earlier and his refusal to take his medications. Brett Gardner, Muskegon County's chief assistant prosecutor at the time, would later argue that Dobben had planned the murders as a way to get back at his wife.

Following the deaths, Dobben was taken to the state's Center for Forensic Psychiatry and was found by psychiatrists to be competent to stand trial. That ruling was reversed in April 1988. It was reversed again in August 1988 and his trial was set for May 1989.

During the nine-day trial, defense attorney Terry Nolan argued that Dobben should be found not guilty by reason of insanity.

Co-workers had said he was a religious fanatic that carried his Bible with him at work. His family said his "fanatical" religious rantings disrupted family gatherings and contact with him had been cut off several months before the children's deaths.

Dobben's mother, Marialyce Dobben, said he had been doing well, staying on his medications, until he became involved with the Emmanuel Fellowship, a small religious group led by Rood Vaughan.

Vaughan, according to later testimony, urged Dobben not to take his medication, and when that occurred Dobben would become obsessively religious. Vaughan would speak on Dobben's behalf at court hearings where he at times was disruptive.

It was Vaughan who put the the idea of "soul-cleansing by fire" into Dobben's head, Bruce Dobben said.

Following a nine-day trial, a jury on May 17, 1989, found Dobben guilty of first-degree murder but mentally ill, meaning he would be imprisoned for life without parole, but also required to receive treatment for his illness while incarcerated.

He was sentenced on May 23, 1989.

https://sports.yahoo.com/happened-sean-york-county-boy-180500463.html

https://original.newsbreak.com/@nik-1590556/2792154041723-suicide-or-murder-what-really-happened-to-12-year-old-sean-daugherty

Sean’s sister Maria tried running into the house but the door was locked, she knocked and rang the doorbell. No answer. She called and texted Sean, who was supposed to be inside babysitting, but no response. She called her mother to ask where Sean was and her mom told her he was likely just playing video games and couldn’t hear her at the door.

Maria decided she’d try the backdoor to see if it was unlocked, but as soon she entered the backyard she froze in her tracks.

She found him hanging from the swing set. He had his arms and hands bound down by his side with a belt. He was barefoot and hanging so low that his feet dragged on the ground. He had a motorcycle helmet bag over his head, which was tied around his head with a string. His glasses were on the ground nearby, shattered.

It is also noted that he was wearing his stepfather’s clothes and was barefoot. No note was found.

In the parents’ bedroom, Sean’s underwear was on the floor. The dresser doors were open.

Before his death, Sean was babysitting his 2-year-old brother at the house while Ramona Rivas took her mother to a doctor’s appointment. Sean was excited to watch his little brother, Ramona said. Jared Rivas, meanwhile, was in Williamsburg with their second-youngest son for an appointment.

During Sean’s last moments, he completed his homework, started taking out the trash, made a snack and even had a quick phone call with his mother — about an hour before his body was discovered.

In the medical examiner’s report, it is noted that no “known history of depression or suicidality” was found. It does note that the police investigation “raised the possibility of bullying at school,” but his family said that except for one incident in December, they’re unaware of any other bullying and said Sean didn’t seem to be overly upset by it.

His family questions how the examiner and police were drawn to the conclusion of suicide

Sean's mother Ramona was arriving back from her appointment with her mother, only to find a large police presence, ambulance and fire truck parked in front of her home. She saw her daughter Maria completely distraught and the medics working on Sean, but they would not let her go near him. She ran to Maria to get the story of what had happened and then they both ran into the house to look for the 2-year-old.

Inside, Ramona found the toddler hiding beneath a pile of laundry on a chair. She would say he appeared to be limp, out of it and not really himself.

==

Unfortunately, none of the neighbors had any helpful information to offer. None of them had seen or heard anything coming from Sean’s home. One neighbor had several security cameras that pointed near or towards the backyard, but unfortunately, none of them worked and they hadn’t in years.

The investigators went through the family home and took pictures of the house as well as the backyard. They took pictures of the backswing set and began to look around and document their surroundings. The family has reported that none of these photos or findings have been shared with them.

As of midnight that same evening, the home was cleared and the family was able to return. Right away, the family noticed some strange things — things that seemed out of the ordinary and like they would be important to investigators. There were also two trash bags tied up on the floor with Sean’s crocs sitting upside down beside the bags, as if Sean had begun to take the trash out, but left them there on the floor instead.

Ramona also noted two additional empty garbage bags lying on the floor all ripped up — and she said they appeared to be different than the ones she kept in the home. These garbage bags had blue handles while the bags they owned had red handles. The heat in the home was set to 85 degrees Fahrenheit/or 29 degrees Celsius, definitely higher than what the family usually kept the heat at.

Sean’s jacket and flannel he was wearing earlier that day were found hanging in the closet, but the T-shirt and shorts he had been wearing were never found. So where the hell did his clothing go?

Sean’s little brother, the one that he had been babysitting who was discovered hiding in the pile of clothes — was now telling a strange story. He said that Sean’s friend had been at the house that day and was punching him.

But there was more. They discovered what looked like blood drops, and a large handprint on the window of the backdoor…it looked as if the handprint had some sort of film or residue on it which really made it stand out. The family says that all of this information was shared with the police the following day, and they even came back to try to lift the fingerprints off the handprint to send them out for testing.

A few weeks later the lead investigator would tell them they got a good print from the lift of the hand, but that there weren’t any matches in the system. A month later, when they came back for more prints, he said there weren’t any good prints lifted, and therefore nothing to test.

The family have been critical of their local police, and in turn — the police have pushed back, releasing a video on Facebook that I can only describe as cold-hearted. In the video, they state that the family has not taken the opportunity to meet with them and the medical examiner’s office to go through their findings.

They clarify a few things — like that the yard was not muddy that day, which would explain Sean’s clean feet. That they tested the rope for DNA and only found Sean’s DNA on the part of the knot. They talk about a blood mark found in the house and say that it was found in the home later, but was not present on the day of the investigation. They say they placed bags over Sean’s hands to preserve evidence. They also say there was no evidence of an intruder or any sign that Sean was sexually assaulted.

There were also conflicting statements made by Sean’s sister Maria, and the police — she said his feet were touching the ground when she found him, while the police say there was a chair that had been moved from the deck to be under sean when he hung himself. They say they moved it out of the way to perform life-saving measures.

In May 1997, school boy Jamie Lavis was abducted and murdered by bus driver, Darren Vickers. Vickers then moved in with the Lavis family, claiming that he wanted to help them find Jamie because he was haunted by the fact he might’ve been the last person to see him alive. The Lavis family was so blinded by his false determination and desire to bring their son back home alive that they allowed him to continue to live with them.

Jamie’s remains weren’t found until two years after his disappearance. During that time, Vickers would make very public appeals on television as he urged the public to help find Jamie and took part in searches he knew were going nowhere. He was sentenced to 25 years in prison in 1997. He was denied parole in February 2023.

Dingle is the man convicted of fatally shooting the owner of a topless bar and then forcing a hostage to decapitate him in April 1983. His grisly crime (which also involved a rape) inspired what may be the most celebrated Post wood of all time: "Headless body in topless bar."

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2090605/Killer-Charles-Dingle-spawned-New-York-Post-headline-HEADLESS-BODY-IN-TOPLESS-BAR-hoping-free-30-years-bars.html

His horrific rampage began at strip joint Herb's Bar in Queens when Dingle - then 23 years old - gunned down the bar's owner, Herbert Cummings.

He then took four women hostage, raping one of them and robbing the others in an alcohol and cocaine-fueled rage.

But Dingle’s crime spree took a bizarre turn when he found out that one of his hostages was a mortician after finding her business card.

He demanded that she extract the bullet from Cummings' head so authorities would be unable to match it to his gun, but when she couldn't do it, he ordered her to cut off Cummings' head with a steak knife, the Post reported.

He later released two of the hostages and took the remaining two with him in a stolen livery cab - with Cummings' head in a box.

The ordeal came to an end when he stopped the car in Manhattan’s Washington Heights neighbourhood and passed out behind the wheel - and his hostages fled.

Two days later, the ‘HEADLESS BODY IN TOPLESS BAR’ headline was splashed across the Post front page and into notoriety, often called one of the greatest newspaper headlines of all time.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11607643/Satanic-child-abuse-ring-shut-victims-oven-filmed-gang-raping-court-hears.html

A satanic child abuse ring tortured children by putting them in an oven, forcing them to kill animals and gang raping them, a court has heard.

Seven men and four women are accused of abusing three young children over the course of 10 years in Glasgow which saw them attempt to 'call on spirits and demons'.

Two girls - one of whom was allegedly shut in a microwave, fridge, oven and freezer in an attempt to kill her - and one boy were forced to kill animals as well as being sexually abused by the group, it is claimed.

Members of the group have been charged with 43 offences with among the most serious being attempted murder and rape of young children.

The High Court in Glasgow was told on Friday that the offences took place between January 2010 and March 2020 at a number of addresses in the city.

The group are alleged to have run a wheelchair over the legs of one of the girls, as well as putting a plastic bag over her head.

It's claimed she was made to eat cat food, as well as take drugs and alcohol, with the other girl also made to eat pet food.

The second girl was allegedly chased by an adult wearing a devil mask and hung by her jumper from a nail on the wall.

This culminated with her being pushed into and trapped inside a microwave, an oven, a fridge freezer and various cupboards, the court heard.

It is claimed one of the girls was threatened with being sent to Turkey with a male stranger, while the boy was put in a bath which they said was filled with blood.

The boy and older girl are alleged to have been made to take part in 'seances (and) use a Ouija board...to call on spirits and demons'.

The children were also involved in 'witchcraft' leading them to believe that they themselves had 'metamorphosed into animals'.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Franca_Viola

Franca Viola (born 9 January 1948) is a Sicilian woman who became famous in the 1960s in Italy for refusing a "rehabilitating marriage" (Italian: matrimonio riparatore) to her rapist after being kidnapped, held hostage for over one week, and raped frequently. She is considered to be the first Italian woman who had been raped to publicly refuse marriage. She and her family successfully prosecuted the rapist. The trial had a wide resonance in Italy, as Viola's behavior clashed with traditional social conventions in Southern Italy, whereby a woman would lose her honour if she refused to marry the man to whom she had lost her virginity. Franca Viola became a symbol of the cultural progress and emancipation of women in post-war Italy.[1][2][3]

Melodia offered Viola a rehabilitating marriage, but she refused, thus acting against what was the common practice in Sicilian society at the time. According to traditional social norms, this choice would make her a donna svergognata, or 'woman without honour' (literally: a 'shameless woman'), as she had lost her virginity but remained unwed.[4] These concepts were not exclusive to Sicily or rural areas; to some extent, they were also implicit in the Italian Penal Code of the time, namely Article 544, which equated rape to a crime against "public morality" rather than a personal offence, and formalized the idea of a "rehabilitating marriage" (matrimonio riparatore), stating that a rapist who married his victim would have his crime automatically expunged.[4][8]

Insane story from Minnesota. Child protection services fail to save a boy from his mentally deranged mother despite even the pleas of her family to step in.

Ultimately she took a shotgun and shot her son 9 times while he was strapped to a car seat in her car. She dumped the body parts in dumpsters around town.
The police pull her vehicle over, find all the empty shells, a tire that is completely missing from the car, a back windshield that is shot out and blood everywhere AND DRIVE HER HOME.
She told them it was blood from venison and that the windshield and tire was wrecked by teens shooting at her.
Once they open the trunk and find more human remains, they rush back to her apartment and have to track her down as she tried escaping on foot.
When she was taken in the second time, she still had her son's brain matter in her hair.

Fine police work.

The perp wound up stealing 10 grand from the woman and was fired. He went back and murdered her for revenge.

The perp tried to evade police in a nearby lake and drowned to death.

So at least there's a happy ending.

Peter Samuel Cook (17 August 1928 – 9 January 2004)[1][2] was a British serial rapist who attacked women in Cambridge, England and so became known in the press as the Cambridge Rapist.[3] He attacked women after breaking into their bedsits and flats.[4] He was active between October 1974 and April 1975, and was also called the 'hooded rapist' because of a distinctive leather mask he wore whilst carrying out his crimes.[3] The mask was reported to be "stitched from an old leather shopping bag. The zipper-mouthed mask had the word 'rapist' painted in white across the forehead".

Weird case where a woman goes missing in Philly while on a work trip with her husband....and her stabbed body is found 5 months later in North Carolina.

She is found not in touristy clothes like when she vanished but hiking type clothes that matched the terrain she was found in 600 miles away.

- A local shop owner saw her and she ID'd herself as Judy from Boston.

- Her husband was overweight and physically incapable of killing her. He paid for private investigators to try and solve the case.
