He meant programs that not too many people know of. Or obscure programs! ;)
Well, come on! You know what he meant right?
Schmoopie 08-24-2015, 02:36 AM I liked that show Medicine Ball when it was on way back in 1995 or so. I loved that it was set in Seattle, but it got really dumb toward the last episode and it barely ran for a season. My favorite is Dobie Gillis, though. LOVE that show!

Torgo 08-24-2015, 09:02 PM One of the newer shows I like, which isn't really known outside the horror community, is Holliston. Created, written, starring, and directed by Adam Green (creator of the Hatchet trilogy), and also starring fellow horror director Joe Lynch (Wrong Turn 2).
Adam and Joe play longtime friends trying to make their first horror movie. To pay the bills they direct local cable commercials. Their boss at the cable station is played by Dee Snider as Lance Rockett (who moonlights as the lead singer for a Van Halen cover band). The late Dave Brockie, as his GWAR persona Oderus Urungus, is Adam's imaginary friend.
Several horror celebrities make appearances, many as themselves, including Kane Hodder, Danielle Harris, Tony Todd, James Gunn, John Landis, Sid Haig, to name a few.
The show makes many horror references, constantly breaks the fourth wall.

Some very short-lived shows:
Lotsa Luck
:yeahthat
I remember finding How to Make it in America to be a pretty funny show, decided I'd try to get into it, and then it was canceled.
Undercovers with Blair Underwood was decent.
Earl77 08-25-2015, 12:45 PM Perhaps "Hey dad" is not famous in America (I dont know). It's Australian and actually very good but unfortunately similarities with the Cosby Show in "real life"...

That may very well be! It is really a funny and likeable Sitcom, I loved it as a child but nowadays it is the same as with the Cosby Show - can't watch it anymore without thinking about...

Torgo 09-03-2015, 08:49 AM Three more I don't hear/see people talk about anymore:
Hangin' In Ran from 1981 to 1987. Haven't seen it since the 80s. It had to do with a lady running a teen counseling center. I remember watching it after school. I think the reason I watched it the first time was when I turned it on I recognized Dave Eisner (who turned out to be a regular) from the early 80s slasher Happy Birthday To Me.

Brothers 1984-89. Aired on Showtime. About 3 brothers. One is a former professional football player who opens a restaurant, his older brother who is a construction worker. Their younger brother who is gay. This is the first sitcom I remember seeing that was centered around a character being gay.
Also haven't seen this one since its original airing.

The Steven Banks Show 1994. Aired on PBS. I mainly watched it because of Steven Banks, who did what I think is the funniest one man show I've ever seen Steven Banks: Home Entertainment Center.

That show was a big deal when it first aired, because it also meant that they were free to do and say whatever they wanted to, including the use of words that are forbidden from being typically used on television. That, and the gay plotline, are now common in commercial-free cable TV these days.
And why isn't there a page for it? It had plenty of seasons of first-run episodes.

And I've never seen it re run any where, would be neat if they released it on DVD. But seems it'll be one of those sadly forgotten shows.
Regulus 09-03-2015, 08:47 PM WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too many to mention! :D
tlc38tlc38 09-04-2015, 10:38 PM Although these shows are known by many here on the boards, when I mention them to other non-sitcom/TV "freaks", they have no clue what I'm talking about...
The Torkelsons
Small Wonder (most people still don't know about this little gem)
Brotherly Love
Hearts Afire
The Real McCoys
Evening Shade (even though this is on Antenna TV, it's still a VERY rare show)
Evening Shade is one of those shows that had a decent little run, but I'm still surprised it didn't have much of a life after its cancellation. I think it aired on the Family Channel back in the mid-90s, but disappeared until now.
It's a show that's kinda grown on me on Antenna TV.
scrapple 09-06-2015, 09:55 PM How about "The Pruitts Of Southampton", starring Phyllis Diller. For some reason, I just loved that opening theme!
