Bonniegirl 08-04-2015, 08:07 PM Tonight, the intro of Ed, and the first 2 parter.Tomorrow, season two, and the first 4 parter. Oh yeah! Tomorrow , the four part runaway eps start ! They were good! ;) '80sSitcoms 08-05-2015, 08:18 AM Julie was so annoying to me whenever she was so rebellious or outrageous...I actually prefer Alex! lol Bonniegirl 08-05-2015, 12:26 PM Julie was so annoying to me whenever she was so rebellious or outrageous...I actually prefer Alex! lol Say it isn't so!!!!!!  Alex!! NO!!!!!!! I tended to like the eps that focused on Julie. That was when the cool drama came in and the continued episodes like this Runaways four parter, when she got involved with the older man, Marriage to Max etc. !! ;) opus 08-05-2015, 03:50 PM The show never would have run for 9 years without Barbara, but it may never have become a success in the first place without Julie. Wawwie 08-05-2015, 10:13 PM In my opinion, Julie was the best and most interesting character on the show. TVFactFan 08-06-2015, 09:22 PM The show never would have run for 9 years without Barbara, but it may never have become a success in the first place without Julie. The show would have never run for 9 years if it was more than 3 channels:lol: Bonniegirl 08-06-2015, 10:57 PM The show would have never run for 9 years if it was more than 3 channels:lol: Glad it did though! ;) Cause years later we are here commenting and clowning the show! Loving it yet hating it , over 30 years later.! :D Isn't it cool? ;) :D TVFactFan 08-06-2015, 11:03 PM Glad it did though! ;) Cause years later we are here commenting and clowning the show! I SO wanna see Alice instead!!!!!!!! Only I wish they could digitally change the title of that series on air and on DVDs to "Mel's Diner" since it focused on the other characters there too besides just Alice. opus 08-07-2015, 11:13 AM YES!! I SO wanna see Alice instead!!!!!!!! Only I wish they could digitally change the title of that series on air and on DVDs to "Mel's Diner" since it focused on the other characters there too besides just Alice. I've never been a fan of catchphrase shows like Good Times, Alice, Different Strokes where someone said the same thing every week (kiss my grits, dyno mite) and the laugh track roared hysterically every time. It always felt like lazy writing. Bonniegirl 08-07-2015, 01:07 PM YES!! I SO wanna see Alice instead!!!!!!!! Only I wish they could digitally change the title of that series on air and on DVDs to "Mel's Diner" since it focused on the other characters there too besides just Alice. I would love to see Alice again! ;) I never thought of it, but yeah "Mel's Diner" would have actually been a good name for the show! ;) NOW!!! Everyone sing along-------- Early to rise...early to bed. Then, in between, I cooked and cleaned and went out of my head. Going through life with blinders on - it's tough to see. I had to get up, get out from under and look for me. There's a new girl in town and she's looking good. There's a fresh freckled face in the neighborhood. There's a new girl in town with a brand new style. She was just passing through but if things work out...she's gonna stay awhile opus 08-07-2015, 02:20 PM I would love to see Alice again! ;) I never thought of it, but yeah "Mel's Diner" would have actually been a good name for the show! ;) NOW!!! I didn't think so before but who knows now that I'm older maybe Old Mel would look better to me! I remember him being too hairy! :D And that customer that was always there the funny guy with the glasses! He wasn't hot either. Than wasn't the guy who played Reuben Kinkaid on the Partridge family one of the customers? He wasn't hot either. And Tommy was kind of cute, but not quite crush worthy! So OMG will I be able to watch a show without developing a crush?????  :D TVFactFan 08-07-2015, 10:23 PM I've never been a fan of catchphrase shows like Good Times, Alice, Different Strokes where someone said the same thing every week (kiss my grits, dyno mite) and the laugh track roared hysterically every time. It always felt like lazy writing. Well nobody said SH*T on One day at a time:lol: opus 08-07-2015, 10:38 PM Speaking of catchphrase shows, the only one I stick up for is the first 5 seasons of Full House. They weekly beat some lines to death, but I still liked it. Guilty pleasure, I guess. The show did get pretty bad after the twins were born though. Bonniegirl 08-07-2015, 11:34 PM Well nobody said SH*T on One day at a time:lol: Yes they did. Ann was always saying "Dammit' ! Dammit David, Dammit Julie, Dammit Ed, Dammit Schneider! :D opus 08-07-2015, 11:36 PM NO!! :D Well IDK . I didn't think so I'm sure Mrs. Vic Tayback would disagree. opus 08-07-2015, 11:38 PM Yes they did. Ann was always saying "Dammit' ! Dammit David, Dammit Julie, Dammit Ed, Dammit Schneider! :D No Dammit Barbara? Bonniegirl 08-07-2015, 11:45 PM No Dammit Barbara? Barbara never seemed to get her as mad as the other people! :D opus 08-07-2015, 11:54 PM Dammit ice cream woman who slept with David? opus 08-08-2015, 11:38 AM Barbara never seemed to get her as mad as the other people! :D Running away to Chicago? Dropping out of college? Making out with your brother in law? Dammit Barbara! TVFactFan 08-08-2015, 12:45 PM Running away to Chicago? Dropping out of college? Making out with your brother in law? Dammit Barbara! Actually MAX was the aggressor and kissed her which caught her off guard. And ann wasn't around to know about it opus 08-08-2015, 12:53 PM There's a Grandma / Ann scene edited out in syndication of that episode that can still be seen in the closing credits. But I have no idea what they're talking about. Does anyone remember? Bonniegirl 08-08-2015, 01:08 PM Dammit ice cream woman who slept with David? LOL!!! :D DAMMIT!!!! And you only brought strawberry and vanilla?? DAMMIT , I want chocolate! :D Bonniegirl 08-08-2015, 01:12 PM I'm sure Mrs. Vic Tayback would disagree. OMG!! Look what I found!!! Vic Tayback young!!! ;) Hello! ;) http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-K-jdT7YmiJQ/T2s9Fe-DhJI/AAAAAAAAC2o/FVfHaAfRu2k/s1600/VicTayback48.jpg Bonniegirl 08-08-2015, 01:25 PM Actually MAX was the aggressor and kissed her which caught her off guard. And ann wasn't around to know about it Ann would have said " DAMMIT, Max, why did you kiss Barbara, you aren't attracted to me"? TVFactFan 08-08-2015, 01:39 PM Ann would have said " DAMMIT, Max, why did you kiss Barbara, you aren't attracted to me"? I think Barbara was supposed to keep it to herself that she liked it LOL opus 08-08-2015, 02:35 PM DAMMIT!!!! If anyone never watched, but is familiar with the show 24, Ann is the original Jack Bauer. That was his favorite exclamation too. And that's the first and last time you'll see a One Day at a Time/24 comparison. Bonniegirl 08-09-2015, 12:19 AM OMG!! Look what I found!!! Vic Tayback young!!! ;) Hello! ;) http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-K-jdT7YmiJQ/T2s9Fe-DhJI/AAAAAAAAC2o/FVfHaAfRu2k/s1600/VicTayback48.jpg I can't believe nobody commented yet on this old picture of Mel (Vic Tayback). He was only 18 here!!! He was born in 1930, and this pic was a high school picture from 1948) ! ;) OK!!! If he looked like this when he was on Alice, you KNOW I would have had a MAJOR crush on him!!! ;) :D He looks older than 18, like early/mid 20's. But when I found this pic it said from 1948, Burbank High School, so that would put him at 18! ;) visaman666 08-09-2015, 12:29 AM YES!! I SO wanna see Alice instead!!!!!!!! Only I wish they could digitally change the title of that series on air and on DVDs to "Mel's Diner" since it focused on the other characters there too besides just Alice. Just as long as we don't get subjected to Tommy washing his mother's feet in the opening credits! omg: TVFactFan 08-09-2015, 12:38 AM Just as long as we don't get subjected to Tommy washing his mother's feet in the opening credits! omg: I think he was just pouring the water in the bucket lol '80sSitcoms 08-10-2015, 08:14 AM I've never been a fan of catchphrase shows like Good Times, Alice, Different Strokes where someone said the same thing every week (kiss my grits, dyno mite) and the laugh track roared hysterically every time. It always felt like lazy writing. They only said it once per episode, and probably not even every episode. And I think you mean "studio audience", not "laugh track". ;) Bonniegirl 08-10-2015, 10:15 AM Just as long as we don't get subjected to Tommy washing his mother's feet in the opening credits! omg: That was kind of Ewww :p because wasn't she soaking her feet in the kitchen pots? But it was nice of Tommy to be thinking of his Mother on her feet all day waitressing to pour water on her sore feet! ;) I had a desk job , so my sons never poured water on my feet! opus 08-10-2015, 12:00 PM They only said it once per episode, and probably not even every episode. And I think you mean "studio audience", not "laugh track". ;) Nah, the cynic in me means "laugh track". (The optimist side still says "studio audience" though). TVFactFan 08-10-2015, 10:11 PM That was kind of Ewww :p because wasn't she soaking her feet in the kitchen pots? But it was nice of Tommy to be thinking of his Mother on her feet all day waitressing to pour water on her sore feet! ;) I had a desk job , so my sons never poured water on my feet! If you wore high heels to work you may have had sore feet lol '80sSitcoms 08-11-2015, 09:10 AM Nah, the cynic in me means "laugh track". (The optimist side still says "studio audience" though). Yeah, but you have to go with the realist in you, lol. ;) I think by the mid-late '70s laugh tracks were done with. I'm 99% sure Alice has a live studio audience from how I remember the laughter. And I have the first 2 seasons of Diff'rent Strokes on DVD and you can tell those are studio audiences. When I hear "laugh track" I think of things like The Munsters and Green Acres, lol. opus 08-11-2015, 11:36 AM When I hear "laugh track" I think of things like The Munsters and Green Acres, lol. Gilligan's Island and early MASH spring to my mind. |
