I was going to start a thread about Barbara's hair. Wondering what you guys think of it? I loved her hair right before she cut it, it was long but the front styling was so cute and becoming! Slimmed her face out a lot. The hair I didn't like so much on her was when it was all curled back in the front and really fluffy and shorter than the first few seasons. It added so much weight to her face.:( I really liked her hair straight and natural when she was younger In earlier seasons, than how it was right before she cut it. But also to be honest , the shorter cut is kind of cute. It's more conservative. I guess they want her to look more like Mark Boyer's wife than Eddie Van Halen's wife! ;)

And Max's beard, well I like facial hair on men, but he looks good clean shaven too! ;) So either/or I wouldn't kick him out of bed! :eek: ;) :crazy:

In all honesty guys, I like the changes. I like Michael without the beard and Valerie with the short hair. It draws even more attention to her beautiful face. When I started watching the show, it was season eight but I never saw the episodes with Max until season nine. So beardless is how I remember meeting him. Lol.

I can't speak to the beard, but as for the haircut, although everything still looks fine, and to paraphrase Julie, that genetically blessed button nose will always be there, I do remember being slightly disappointed back in the day.

Funny that Max would shave the beard when he became a writer. I think a beard would have went along with somebody who is a writer and doesn't need to be clean cut for a 9-5 job?

At least nowadays, scruffy 5 :00 shadow is more acceptable than in the old days! ;)

I have a beard, started growing it in my 20's and have had it ever since. I trim it every so often before it starts to grow out too bushy and wild. I prefer to keep the beard neat and trimmed rather than look like a wild man from the mountains. :lol:

I do too! I like beards! And like Retro TV fan said, nice trimmed not like a Mountain man.:D Or a little hair on the chin is nice like a goatee is nice too like TV Fact fan mentioned. IDK if I prefer a beard to clean shaven though? Either way, it depends on the man too! I like a variety of looks and grooming on men! ;) :D

I'm thinking Michael Lembeck usually was clean shaven. Looking around at pictures of him on the internet, he mainly isn't bearded. It seems like playing Max was really the only time he was. Than he shaved last season again! ;)

Michael has such beautiful, nice dark thick hair! ;) even now at 67 with greying hair, he still has nice thick not balding hair! ;)

Oh yeah!! I love beards on men in general! Some men look great in them. But I personally think Max looks better without a beard. He has a cute "Baby face" ,and it shows his cute smile and pretty teeth off more without the beard! :)

The 9th season is a mixed bag. Some episodes I like, some I don't like. Not a bad season overall, but I think they went as far as they could with the series, it was done after 9 seasons. Maybe they could have spun off Max and Barbara into a series, but instead they tried the failed Schneider pilot, which was terrible.

LOL, I would have liked to see that, Barbara cheating on Mark with Max. Then afterwards, Mark finds out about it, gets in a jealous rage and has a huge fight with Max. I agree with your reason about why Ann had the short hairstyle starting with the 4th season. The producers of the show wanted her to look more like a career woman/businesslike. But she lost much of her sex appeal with the short hairstyle. :( And the male viewers of the show mostly focused on Barbara anyway. :lol:
