Did you ever agree to do something and shortly after thinking about it wished you hadn't? One of those times for me was when I was in 5th grade.
I was sitting in class when the vice principal came on the intercom and asked for me to come down to the principal's office. My heart started beating really fast and I started shaking thinking that one of my crimes must have been discovered. I went down there and waited outside his office still trying to think of what I did and if I should just run home. I gave up on the idea of running home since he knew where I lived and he eventually opened his door and asked me to come in. He then asked me if I would like to be a crosswalk guard and I said " I guess so " I was anxious to leave because I was nervous talking to him. He handed me an orange belt that wrapped around the shoulder and told me I would have to get to school 30 minutes early and I would be 30 minutes late leaving school. As I was walking back to class I got to thinking about it and got really bummed out, I had a hard time getting up for school as it was, why didn't I tell him no? The school used two crosswalk guards, one at each end of the school. When I first went to this school kids would talk about something that happened a couple of years back where this kid dropped his papers under a bus and the bus ran over his head and killed him, it happened right where I would be working as a crosswalk guard. I kept looking at that spot where they said it happened and I kept thinking " I don't want this job. " I was a terrible crosswalk guard, a couple of times kids were almost run over because I was busy bulls***ing with my friends. Luckily, I only had to do it for a couple of weeks and they replaced me with another chump. The next year I was sitting in my house watching tv and my younger brother came home all excited carrying an orange belt, " Guess what? " " They made me a crosswalk guard. " I told him he would have to get to school early and he would be late getting home and he said " Awwww sh** " He only lasted a couple of days because he got into a fight with some kid when he was supposed to be helping people cross the street. He was stripped of his belt and given a dishonorable discharge.
