This may be bad news for you folks who did not see or record the marathon last week. I looked at the schedule for the next few days once season 4 ends the episodes won't be in order anymore. All the season 5 episodes that were aired in the marathon will be skipped so the ones that were not played are the only ones that will air as of now. They will probably be aired during the next rotation.

Well that sucks. I don't know why they are doing that. I DVR'd the season 4 episodes in the marathon but none of the others.

It was definitely bad news for me since I may not get to see those skipped eps because there is no guarantee Antenna will give the show another full cycle

No point in trying to record this show for a personal collection because you will be unsucessful LOL

Dang! So much negativity. The EPISODES AIRED! LOL. They did not air in the traditional format but Antenna did air them. I, for one, am grateful the show is on TV and I have access to it. Can we find some positive ground somewhere? Plus, I have a feeling that the show will do another rotation soon.

I'm just saying for those who wanted to complete their collection of ODAAT doesn't have that opportunity

Maybe so but most people want eps in order when they are building a collection

Then if they want them, they will tape them the next rotation and have to accept that the recordings will not be in order unless they arrange them via DVD recordings. There is always a way to work with a situation and this one is a simple one.

I don't disagree with the original poster, but the whole thing doesn't make sense since they already gave second airings of episodes from seasons 1, 2 and 3 during the marathon, so why wouldn't second airings in the regular rotation be the same thing?

Yes ODAAT was licensed for a contracted length of time, it will be around for quite awhile unless the ratings tank....The Monkees, Gidget, The Flying Nun, Father Knows Best, Hazel, Dennis The Menace, etc have all been on since Antenna TV launched 3 years ago!

The last episode "Off We Go" #208 5/21/84 was aired @2:30AM eastern during the marathon, so they will skip it in favor of running episode #1 for a third time? Not including the schneider pilot which was #209 and only featured Valerie Bertinelli for a few seconds at the beginning on the phone.

It is a bit weird to do it that way, but it actually works for me, as Mothers day was naturally Ann focused, and I'm here for Barbara.

I'm with you, since age 12 I've been with "Barbara", now 52, I met her several times and confirmed with her that it was her actual autograph on a first season photo I got back from a fan letter I wrote in early 1976.

She said quote, "Yes every Friday night during the first few seasons, my father made me sit at the kitchen table and sign the pictures personally" I gave her a DVD of appearances I had recorded on VHS of her on talk shows like Merv Griffen, Hollywood Squares, and her very rare shot in London starring "ABC Afternoon Special". She replied she had none of that stuff.

Yes the marathon was and should have been geared towards Ann "mothers' episodes" that is why I did feel it was odd that they aired the touching episode where "Barbara" learns she cannot have a baby.

Guys hold your horses. This is not a totally bad thing. At least the episodes being skipped were aired right. Many people did record the marathon so they will be able to still follow the show and build their collections so it is not a waste to everyone.

Even if those episodes do not air again it is not really a total loss because missing a few episodes from a collection is not the end of the world. I have many collections that are not 100 percent complete but that does not keep me up at night. I just completed my One Day at a Time set because the only episode I needed aired last Sunday.

If Small Wonder (90 something episodes) is getting a second and third cycle (confirmed by Antenna on Facebook) then One Day at a Time will for sure get at least one more cycle.

No need for such negativity.

PS: The schedule I saw only covers the next 2 weeks so those episodes may air at a later date. The episodes from season 5 in that marathon seem to not be playing but that may not be the case for season 6-9.

Yeah. You didn't know that? LOL. Corey Feldman was in it as well. Barbara books him a trio to Miami or Ft. Lauderdale to see after his nephew and niece. He then decides to stay.

Taping took place in the 90's and early 00's as well. People still do have VCR's. Besides, you know what I mean.;)

Taping and recording is the same thing if you guys want to get technical. I work for a TV station and the media we use is still referred to as a tape even though tapes have not been used in almost 10 years.

Speaking of VHS vs DVD recordings most of my One Day at a Time collection is DVD quality. I have dumped older recordings (E! and Me-TV) with the exception of CBS episodes and the recordings from the 80s from local stations. Some of those older recordings are almost DVD quality because the VHS tapes were not worn out too much. They were literally watched once or twice and not since the early 90s.

I love how easy it is to rearrange DVD sets so I have pretty done away with VHS recordings in favor of something simpler. I only have a VCR so I can transfer old VHS to DVD.

We are living in the day where most of our favorite shows are being put out on DVD or airing on channel where we can record them to DVD. Either way VHS is not a typical media anymore.

I understand what you are saying Josh but if someone has missing eps of a show that was on for 8 or more years it kind of defeats the purpose of the collection

I remember recording the entire series of the Jeffersons on TV land and would not have felt right if I was not able to have all the eps

Check out all the One Day at a Time eps I used to have from CBS. I got rid of them after youtube destroyed tape trading lol

I can't agree with you on this one Solomon. If I fixated on having every show in my collection being 100 percent complete then I would be very lacking in my collection. If I can get about 70 or 80 percent of a show's episodes in my collection then I am content.

In my opinion it does not defeat the purpose of the collection because the show is rare and may never be seen in syndication anytime soon after Antenna TV stops showing it. A few missing episodes should not prevent you from enjoying your collection. If Antenna TV keeps this show for a couple more years then all of those episodes should air again.

Technically none of us have "complete" collections if we are recording any TV show in syndication these days with the exception of Canada and a few other countries. Technically since many networks cut out chunks for commercials none of us have a complete collection of a show even if we have every episode because they aren't uncut.

Solomon there is something seriously wrong with you! People bend over backwards and go crazy to get original airings of their favorite TV shows and you are the only nut who throws them out

No offense man but why did not just trade them away or even sell them. Why throw them out. There are people who would literally bang your door down for a chances to get their hands on those recordings. Do an Ebay search sometime because there are people spending thousands of dollars on these websites to get rare original recordings.

The rule I have with my collection is to never throw anything out unless I can replace it with something better.

For example: I throw out my syndicated versions of One Day at a Time from E! and other places once I got the Comedy Gold and On Demand episodes. Both sources were unedited so I did not feel the need to keep the edited ones. I did keep my original airings because those are always worth keeping.

I did the complete opposite with my Silver Spoons collection. The complete series of original airings I had were completely unwatchable so I threw those out when I got Me-TV versions from a friend in Chicago. They happened to air the show unedited so it was not a complete loss to throw away my original recordings.

I also got rid of my Nick at Nite recordings of The Facts of Life and Diff'rent Strokes once I got the complete series of TFOL from Shout and the entire series of Diff'rent Strokes from Encore.

In the case of Mama's Family I decided to keep my TBS/Ion recordings because of the musical edits on the DVD sets.

Because I thought that trading DIED and no one would buy them. Plus I was running out of room in my apartment because I had over 100 VHS tapes so since trading was no longer popular in 2011 like it was in 2002-2006 I just put all the tapes in trash bags and threw them out lol

Seriously dude! You DON'T throw out great stuff like that! Unless you have transferred them to DVD or backed them up on your hard drive you keep them and cherish them.

I now will be calling you out every time you complain about something being edited on a DVD release. You had your hands on unedited versions of so many shows and you threw them out. If I was allowed to cuss on this board you would be getting an earful from me dude! LOL

There are just some things you don't do. Original airings are something everyone wants especially if they are sitcom lovers like us on this board are.

I transferred some of them but the DVD Reecorder died. I only have NBC airings of Cosby show and different world on DVD and a CBS ep of Good Times from 1974 on DVD

Looks like all my ODAAT are gone

One Day at a Time is the holy grail in my book considering how rare it is on TV. It is one of those things in my collection that I am proud to have as a complete set.

I was happy about my Cosby collection (I Spy, The Bill Cosby Show, The Cosby Show, Cosby, A Different World, Fat Albert, Little Bill) until those allegations came out. I have not thrown them out but I keep them in storage rather than keeping them in my personal collection at home.

Empty Nest is another show that is a great part of my collection. I own almost every episode from NBC. What I don't have from NBC I hope to get from Laff at some point.
