View Full Version : The Unofficial DECADES TV Schedule 2015
Ronny G 05-16-2015, 01:39 PM I don't know how accurate this website is, but here is the link:
http://en.timefor.tv/listings/decades
Scroll down to Monday May, 25th
Their programs seem to be all over the place meaning they're not on at the same time each day.
For example, The Doris Day Show and Family affair are on weds and thurs., but not mon, tues, fri.
If correct, they're having a Mary Tyler Moore Show marathon on * Saturday May, 30th and huge blocks of MTM on other days.
Here's another link which might be a little easier to read:
Decades TV - Zap2It.com (http://affiliate.zap2it.com/tvlistings/ZCSGrid.do?stnNum=74916&channel=&aid=torosunb0l)
Ronny G is right. The schedule is a bit unpredictable and all over the place but that appears to be part of their strategy. Each day, there will be shows like movies, news specials and documentaries which will focus on a specific time in history and all shows airing that day, including a 2 hour block of sitcoms and dramas which change daily, will all focus on a certain theme. Looking at what they have in their first week, I have no clue what the themes are. Maybe some of you can help after I show you what they have:
Classic Sitcoms On Decades TV -- Week 1
Monday May 25
Hogan's Heroes - The Informer
Hogan's Heroes - Hold That Tiger

Petticoat Junction - A Most Momentous Occasion
TheLogoMan94 05-16-2015, 05:46 PM I can't wait for Decades to launch! I've been watching most of the Binge marathons on Decades by receiving them with a 10ft C-Band satellite dish, since no local affiliates in my area carry it. I like the idea of a mixed up schedule, but that's just my opinion.
Bonniegirl 05-16-2015, 06:02 PM I don't think I get this channel!
icecream 05-16-2015, 07:51 PM I don't think I get this channel!I don't either.

It must be in a 4:3 aspect ratio. Maybe you could adjust your television's settings to stretch the ratio to fit the screen.
chriszme 05-16-2015, 09:57 PM My tv has no such settings.

Coffeecup 05-17-2015, 05:35 PM I just found this station a few weeks ago. I do hope they thin out the marathon/binge watching for I can't watch all the episodes in one sitting and settle for an hour of one show a day. One day bumped into Dark Shadows which I remember from the late 1960's. Had a soap opera film look. Wanted to see more, but I would be up all night and day.

What did you mean by "soap opera film look"? Most of the episodes I saw appeared like most movies originally recorded on video tape (the episodes I saw that were filmed copies of the original video copies did not appear like TV programs originally recorded on video tape).
Coffeecup 05-20-2015, 04:22 PM Wasn't the show a soap opera and shown in the late afternoon? If you look at old episodes of the Secret Storm, you will see what I mean by soap opera look. I guess the film they used was different ?? some # millimeter film.
Ronny G 05-20-2015, 08:28 PM I wonder if you're referring to the kinescopes? There are several video tape masters of Dark Shadows missing, so they used kinescopes to replace the missing episodes. Back in the 1960s, they would make copies of program by pointing a film projector at the video monitor playing Dark Shadows and film it. This gave it a "filmed" look. That's how they would make copies back in the sixties because video tape was expensive, and not everyone owned a VCR.

Yes it was! And especially the early Dark Shadows eps. had that "old soap opera look" like you are describing if I remember correctly! I know EXACTLY what you mean! ;)
Mario500 05-21-2015, 09:47 AM Ronny G was correct about my previous message.

That's what DVRs and DVD Recorder hard drives are for.

No, what it is, the morons with their High Definition, 100 inch flat screen TVs, complain about gorgeous black and white video tape, because on their TVs, instead of looking like its live and coming from the next room, it looks like ****. That's why they complain about it.

Hard to watch.yea, I was excited when I found out last night that we have it but became disappointed when I saw that.

how do you do that?

Could you explain the asterisks in your message?

I would usually go to the menu for my TV set to do that.

As impressive as that channel sounds,if that's how they show their programs, what good are they. I consider that unwatchable.--I don't get this channel yet so I'm wondering if it's like that in all areas or just some, or maybe it's something they'll fix. What's wrong with some of these channels anyhow? They don't even know how to broadcast a proper picture anymore. No matter what type of TV one has the picture is gonna look ridiculous.

Do you even know the difference between film and videotape? Or kinescope?
mayberry66guy 05-26-2015, 09:23 PM This channel is barely visible with my small TV antenna--as the station is a far distance. So, I have only seen brief bits. My question is, have any of you guys timed out an episode as it airs? Is DECADES airing uncut/original episodes or are they airing syndicated (edited) episodes?
I could probably receive this channel better with a rooftop antenna, but really have no need for it if they are all edited, chopped up episodes.

To me, they look like syndicated prints. Also, me and other people notice that they do the dreaded “credit crunch” as well.

I can't speak to all of the series that they ran in their Binge because frankly other than The Millionaire and Love American Style, everything else they ran I have complete on DVD so I didn't pay attention. I can tell you that The Millionaire ran complete but timesped to 23 minutes. LAS is only available one way, in half hour syndicated form. I couldn't tell you if the episodes are cut for syndication or not.

Wasn't the prints of The Millionaire they used sourced from 16mm prints? It looked like it to me, though I could be wrong.
Here is what their website looks like:
Decades.com (http://www.decades.com/#schedule-section)
For me, it doesn't look so great. The photos are too big and the information they give you is too small. It's only been one week, but the site and the channel both have a long way to go.

I just took a very quick glance at their schedule, but I tend to agree. They seem to be repeating the same exact episodes of the shows something like 4 times a day.Same goes for the movie. It would still be a nice channel to have, but so far it does not seem as impressive as I thought it would be.

Yes. They are sourced from old 16mm prints that were transferred to tape in the 80s.

They must be the same transfers Me-TV as well as H&I used.
Becca3557 05-27-2015, 08:32 PM I'm disappointed with what I've seen of this network. I know it's early and things may improve, but it sure isn't Must See TV for me. They need a new program director. When I first saw their post-Binge programming, I had to do a double-take. Why would I want to see the same shows every 6 hours or so? Tomorrow it's 3 straight hours of Mary Tyler Moore...... 4 times? I love Mary and Rhoda and the gang, but Yikes, Mr. Grant! :wallbang
MikeLutton 06-03-2015, 01:09 AM I got it Comcast 181
Mario500 06-03-2015, 06:40 AM I got it Comcast 181
Could you explain this message?
treky 06-04-2015, 02:20 AM I think he's saying he gets it on channel 181.
MikeLutton 06-04-2015, 10:18 AM yes that what I was saying and thanks
mets82 06-04-2015, 04:27 PM Well, I get CBS2 out of NYC but I dont get the channel. I believe it would be on channel 240 but nothing yet. This channel doesnt seem that great based on the thread here. I feel the same way about the LAFF channel. The website pictures are too big and the schedule is very underwhelming. Only show I watch is Empty Nest.
Bonniegirl 06-04-2015, 07:05 PM I don't get Decades channel!!!:( :( :(

quincywagstaff 06-04-2015, 07:52 PM Comcast in our area just added Decades a few days ago. I have to agree with the general trend of this thread - it looks like a bunch of amateurs threw this channel together. I'm guessing that they wanted to differentiate Decades from all of the other retro channels but what they came up with is a repetitive, utterly confusing schedule of programs that may appear on a given day one week, but appear on a different day the next (if at all). The shrunken picture is just stupid and annoying, and what I've seen so far doesn't make me want to keep returning. And the website is poorly-designed and not very user-friendly. Hopefully things will improve in time but you would think that CBS would be savvy enough not to come up with a product this confusing and third-rate.

http://wholewomannetwork.files.wordpress.com/2014/06/pity-party-time.jpgAt least you get Me-TV and Cozi, I don't have any of them. I do get Antenna TV though.
mets82 06-05-2015, 04:30 PM I'd like to see what the channel is and make a judgment. It doesnt seem like its very good.

Yeah , that's what I'm starting to think. Do I really need four channels ? I guess I can do just fine with Antenna, METV and Cozi to get my "Old show fix" ! ;)
tlc38tlc38 06-05-2015, 06:00 PM Looking at the schedule, the only shows they air that I really would want to see are "Petticoat Junction" and "The Beverly Hillbillies". I'm not that upset that I can't get this channel. It upsets me more about Antenna TV---now that's an awesome channel that I wish I could get!

Yeah, METV already plays Petticoat Junction and The Beverly Hillbillies. And yes, Antenna is awesome ! :)
