I've been on their website and seen the schedule. Just a bunch of dumb movies I care nothing about. I certainly won't be watching that day. Not happy I have to miss The Jeffersons because of some stupid movies.

Yeah war movies I think!!! :( Regulus 05-12-2015, 10:47 PM Yeah war movies I think!!! :( Yup, it's war movies (It IS Memorial Day, which has been set aside to honor those who gave their lives serving in our armed forces). patriot: addseo1119 05-12-2015, 10:50 PM i want to your watching sitcom in thailand. Bonniegirl 05-13-2015, 12:59 AM Yup, it's war movies (It IS Memorial Day, which has been set aside to honor those who gave their lives serving in our armed forces). patriot: Yeah I know, I didn't mean any disrespect . God bless the men who have fought for this country, even though most of the wars shouldn't have even happened. That is my point more, and a whole day of war movies is not my bag! :( Torgo 05-13-2015, 09:32 AM Yeah, they should cancel Memorial Day so people won't have to miss a rerun of a TV show. Regulus 05-13-2015, 09:38 AM Yeah, they should cancel Memorial Day so people won't have to miss a rerun of a TV show. Those in the picnic industry would LOVE that, being Memorial Day is one of the biggest picnic days of the year (along with Independence Day and Labor Day)! Sal 05-13-2015, 11:47 AM Another way that both Antenna TV and ME-TV could have honored Memorial Day is to fill the entire schedule with war-related sitcoms and dramas: Hogan's Heroes F Troop Mash Phil Silvers Show McHale's Navy Gomer Pyle USMC Combat! Baa Baa Black Sheep MRPITT 05-13-2015, 12:14 PM Another way that both Antenna TV and ME-TV could have honored Memorial Day is to fill the entire schedule with war-related sitcoms and dramas: Hogan's Heroes F Troop Mash Phil Silvers Show McHale's Navy Gomer Pyle USMC Combat! Baa Baa Black Sheep I like the sitcom idea, I think Antennatv did that either in 2013 or 2012. Baa Baa Black Sheep I actually like McHales Navy and Gomer Pyle ! ( Wish Antenna or METV would start showing Gomer)! ;) Torgo 05-13-2015, 01:09 PM CPO Sharkey is another they could air. OH Nuts! 05-13-2015, 01:35 PM Yup, it's war movies (It IS Memorial Day, which has been set aside to honor those who gave their lives serving in our armed forces). patriot: Precisely. Antenna 's marathon is totally apropos. I think many folks lose perspective of what this day represents; not that they mean to, but we're so conditioned to being "entertained" esp. by a channel like Antenna. I personally think war-type sitcoms really don't fit - this is supposed to be a solemn day of remembrance-at least in theory. If this one day of non "entertainment" is unacceptable to someone there are other options - You Tube eps, DVDs - or maybe just going outside and doing something with a loved one - esp. One who is a vet. Nobody is going to die by a one day marathon of movies; however MANY have died or been maimed for the many freedoms we routinely take for granted. I revere our vets; sign me a pat. too! Bonniegirl 05-14-2015, 12:58 PM I wonder what Antenna has planned for Fathers day? Didn't they have a Father Knows best Marathon last year? OH Nuts! 05-14-2015, 02:09 PM I wonder what Antenna has planned for Fathers day? Didn't they have a Father Knows best Marathon last year? I wonder as well and think it was FKB last yr. But based on their past track record, it will be something good. Unfortunately, no matter what they do, someone will take issue with it. As for me, I love Antenna TV. Are they perfect? No, but still pretty darn good, esp. for a free station. Bonniegirl 05-14-2015, 05:37 PM I wonder as well and think it was FKB last yr. Like randomly playing eps of Leave it to Beaver, Dennis the menace, Father knows best, Mr. Belvedere, Patty Duke Show etc. All the Antenna shows that have Dad's. ;) OH Nuts! 05-15-2015, 12:17 AM I'd like Antenna to mix it up on Fathers day. Bonniegirl 05-15-2015, 01:36 AM That's not a bad idea; it'll be interesting to see what Antenna comes with! I forgot Flipper. Sandy & Bud's Dad ( He was good looking)! Also George Jefferson, Lionel's Dad and even on Mr. Ed, there was an ep where Ed found his father ( A Palomino )! ;) Regulus 05-15-2015, 10:36 AM As most of you probably know, I lived in Michigan for the first 40 years of my life before moving to Florida. Each year on Memorial Day the city of Dearborn has a HUGE parade, and that's one of the few things I miss since I moved. Memorial Day in Florida is a "Beach Picnic Day" for most of us, no Parades or Fireworks to enjoy. :( On the other hand, there aren't many Christmas Parades up in Michigan, so that "balances" things a bit :santa2: mets82 05-20-2015, 05:16 PM I can understand why there having a movie marathon on Memorial Day. I'm not a big War buff and the War movies dont really interest me but I understand why they are showing them. Btw, 2,500 Posts!! |
